27 He travelled back to Chora in the back seat of the police car with Andreas. Cristopoulos was in the front passenger seat, staring ahead as if unable to hear their conversation. There was not much that Day needed to say, as Andreas and Cristopoulos had been silently listening to everything from immediately outside the house. After a while they fell silent, thinking their own thoughts. “There’s nothing to keep me on Naxos once this case is closed,” Andreas said out of the blue. “We should have a drink before I go.” “Let’s do that.” “Better if it’s just the two of us. Helen would probably prefer not to see me at the moment.
