24 Tarkus moved back to his position by the doors then darted a glance around. Then he looked again, more slowly. “No one else is advancing,” he said. “I wouldn’t say we’re safe, but we’re not under attack right now.” Kaira moved back to her side of the door, then quickly glanced around the corner. That glance almost led to her throwing up. The chemicals the doctor had thrown must have burnt incredibly hot. The attackers’ clothing and even armour had largely melted away, as had large parts of their skin and the flesh underneath. The sight of it was horrific. The smell was worse.
