Roz suddenly turned down a side alley, one with almost no one in it. Dav studied it as they walked. It seemed to be a residential area, but the number of doorways packed close together showed the space behind each must be tiny. Roz led them further on, into a warren of what were clearly makeshift housing units which looked to have even less room within them. Nothing like this would ever have been planned in the tower. They passed a few people, but none looked up. They stayed focused on their own business and Dav tried to do the same. After dozens of turns down makeshift alleyways, which all looked the same to Dav, Roz pulled up suddenly in front of a nondescript door which might have been reclaimed from the bottom of the rubbish chutes. Roz rapped on the door in a complex rhythm.
