30 “It’s time,” said Sath, the first words he’d spoken since they climbed into the craft. Dav started. Not that he’d been dozing, but his mind had finally found a level of peace. Peace which was now interrupted not only by the pilot’s voice, but by his rapid movements as he brought the small craft to life. Dav watched him work, there was nothing else to hold his attention. Sath seemed to be working his way through a bewildering array of settings, but when Dav glanced to the side he saw Tarkus intently focused on what the pilot was doing and nodding slowly to himself. “At least it makes sense to someone,” Dav thought. “I’ll be damn glad to get out at the other end though.” Sath didn’t speak again, nor did Tarkus, so Dav kept his silence as well.
