— Chance POV—
It was nice to finally have the asshat gone and that Alpha Linx agreed to talk to me. I walked over to the edge of the training area and mind linked the current beta, Trevor’s father.
“What can I do for you young man?”
“The alpha and I are going to be in a small meeting for a little bit I won’t be able to help with the training. Continue on without me please.”
I cut the mind link and turned back to Alpha Linx before we started off towards the Alpha’s house, or, well, Alpha Axel’s house. He was going to be coming back soon and I wanted to talk to Linx soon. Hopefully there weren’t any interruptions.
We passed through the center of the community and saw various people putting up subtle but elegant decorations for my sister’s birthday celebration in two days. We had talked before and I had asked her if she wanted to do a regular teenager party or to follow tradition for a true healer’s coming of age. Her response had been so cute I still chuckle every time I think about it.
“Hey brother how was training?” The time has been way after breakfast but it was typical for Rosertina to sleep in late due to her training at night. It didn’t bother me per say but I was still worried about her. She didn’t really have time to mourn our parents before she went to the waterfall.
Her training was very important but I couldn’t help but wonder I if she even wanted to have this honor. Our mother has been great and was, most likely, the best healer that the pack had ever known. My sister had the makings of being great but I just wondered at time. I watched as she opened up the fridge to heat up the left over breakfast that had been set aside for her. She took the plate to the microwave, put the food in, started the timer and promptly plopped her head on the counter with a thud. I chuckled at her antics and heard Ritae growl at me in response.
“Oh relax it was funny.”
“Yeah since my pain and torment are so funny to watch and observe.” She lifted her head to give me a peeved look before turning to look at the calendar on the wall. Upon seeing the date she r rubbed her eyes and blinked at it again.
“Holy crap! It’s only three weeks before I turn 18! Yes I can’t wait to finally know who my mate is.”
“You’re that’s excited about it?”
“What would you like to do for the celebration? Do you want to do a traditional healer celebration or a regular teenager party at the pack house?”
She tapped her chin as she thought it over for a few minutes. It seems to takes forever for her to make up her mind but she started how she wanted to do a party with our friends before the full moon and then to do the Healer celebration as the actual festivity. Her response was so cute I couldn’t resist chuckling at her.
“Don’t laugh! It’s not funny.”
“Your face sure is red though.”
Alpha and I were in front of the new pack house now, which is where the first part of the celebration is going to take place before moving to the square. When we walked in Luna Trista jumped her mate the second we walked in. I wasn’t particularly uncomfortable with the PDA as I was with the starter it put me in when I thought about my own mate. They were currently positioned with the Luna between the wall and her mate. His hands were gripping her thighs and placing them around his waist while he seemed to devour her mouth.
No matter how short of a time they have ever been apart the greeting was always the same. Swift and passionate, if even a little graphic.
That wasn’t entirely unusual since we are werewolves. It’s in our nature. I just wish I could do the same thing to Victoria. I thought about it a little more and found I didn’t mind the idea of shocking my sister to the point of her freaking out about my banging her friend into sweet oblivion until all that was left in the world were the two of us together.
“Ehhhemmm.”
I jolted out of my stupor to find the Luna chuckling and Alpha Linx cocker his eyebrow at me, tense, almost as if he was going to end me any second now.
“Daydreaming are we?”
“Yes I was actually and it was quite a good dream until you interrupted it.”
He bristled as I felt the blood drain from my face instantly. I immediately lowered my head in a submissive pose and turned my neck to him. Just because I was training to take the beta position didn’t mean that I was immune to the alpha stare/voice. After about a minute or two I lifted my gaze through my lashes to gauge his demeanor before shaking myself out.
“Before we have the original discussion about that we are going to have I need to make one thing clear to you. If you ever look at my mate that way again I will end you, I don’t care who you are. Do we understand one another?”
I reeled back shocked at what he was implying. “Alpha I may have a few stupid characteristics being a young man and all but daydreaming about someone else’s mate is not one of those things.”
Linx immediately morning relaxed his shoulders before tilting his head puzzled. “Oh? Who were we daydreaming about them?”
I smiled to myself as I thought about her slim athletic figure and playful personality. “My mate.”
Linx’s eyes widened. “Your mated?!?! Your mates and you didn’t say anything?!?!”
“She is under age still. I have to wait one more year.”
“Ah I see. Sorry I just turned around and saw the expression on your face and you were facing us so I thought you were lusting for Trista.”
“No, oh god no!!!! She like a mother to me!!! Ewwww!” I shivered at the thought of being with the Luna and shivered involuntarily. The alpha immediately relaxed his stance and I could tell he was secretly relieved. He chuckled at my reaction before giving his Luna one last peck on the cheek before leading me back into the office.
The office was underneath the staircase that was on the left side of the doorway. The house was actually pretty cool. The front foyer had on the right side, a sunken in living room which had two sets of stairs lead out of it from the main door and also from the kitchen. The kitchen was diagonal to the door and had a pathway that lead towards the back hallway. The decor was very simplistic but then Axel was a very simple person. Since it was going to be his domain and his actual house for both him and his future mate, over that may be there was always room for improvements.
But now Linx was leading back into the office which actually took up the majority of the downstairs floor plan. Upon walking into the room there is a massive oval table that could easily seat ten alphas plus their betas and one or two others. In essence this room was multi proposed s as a conference room along with the traditional office outfitting.
The desk,I would have to say was a thing of beauty. Slick, dark mahogany that has the carving of a wolf howling at the moon with fireflies around it. The fireflies and moon, complements of a pack hybrid witch, were able to light up with a dim glow when it was late at night. The moon would also be able to change cycles with the real moon as well, which I thought was a little much but the witch thought it would be fun and did it anyways.
The walls themselves were a very pale reddish brown that made the whole atmosphere give off a calming affect. Which was good since my stomach was in knots. I was nervous to see what Linx would think of my plan but I didn’t quite know where to start.
He sat up against the edge of the table and crossed his arms waiting for me to begin. I was glad he was patient since it me a few minutes to muster the courage to begin. Once I started telling him my idea and began to get excited about it, his eyes were full of surprise and mischievousness.
Even though he is the alpha doesn’t mean he doesn’t know how to have fun. There has been many a time when he requested my help for a prank he wanted to pull in Trista. She may not have appreciated it but they were fun memories. And the idea I had may not be the smartest thing I have ever done but I didn’t want to pass up the chance. (No pun intended) One I finished I waited for his opinion and tried to gauge his reaction. He sat there for a long while with a serious and stoic expression. In the distance I heard the door bell ring and heard the Luna talking to someone but I was too concerned with his opinion to care who it was.
He finally looked at me before saying, ““Are you sure about this Chance? We can’t get this wrong or will live to regret it for a long while. You understand the gravity and consequences of our actions if we are wrong correct?”
“Completely Alpha.” I was confident enough that my plan would work and my gut told me I was correct. In instances like these I always went with my gut and it hasn’t steered me wrong yet. I nod ready to begin executing my scheme.
“Alrighty then I am giving you complete charge of this event understand. There can’t be any mistakes.”
“I’m fully aware sir.”
“Good man. Oh and Rose you can come in you know.”
What the HELL?????!!!!!! s**t how much did she hear? I turned around and watched her warily as she came in and went straight over to Linx and gave him a hug. They hugged for a minute before I got a little envious and held out my arms ready for my hug. She looked over at me, stuck her tongue out, and proceeded to continue hugging Linx.
Cheeky chit.” That’s not very nice.” I crossed my arms pretending to have a “tantrum” before she gave way. She rolled her eyes before walking over. “fine, fine.” When e we hugged it felt like coming home to a long lost relative. Even though we technically hugged a few hours ago it never got old. Stiffened
She pulled away and looked between me and Linx before squinting her eyes. “So what were you two talking about?”
I immediately stiffened while Linx remained completely relaxed.
“Nothing.” We said at the same time. That wasn’t very convincing. After a minute she shrugged her shoulders before asking me a question. I mentally sighed with relief as we got passed that hurdle. Not the only problem was keeping the plan from spreading.
