Chapter 4

Rosertina POV     After eating breakfast I walked out of the pack house and stopped to take in the view. My wolf and I both loved these scenery here. In the mild of nowhere in Montana, lived our pack. We had a whole meadow filled with pack houses and a gym. The nearest town was about a thirty minute drive, and if one didn’t know we were here then no one would be able to find us ever. The road leading up to our community was a dirt road that looked over grown and impassable.     Of course it was the Healer’s job to make it so. With the magic gifted to me by the Great Mother Nature i was today very quickly how to put up projective barriers to make it look old and worn but in reality the road was paved and well kept. The men of the pack were very careful with the upkeep.     Since it was ten or so in the morning, the sounds of training both in human and wolf form were taking place in the gym and on the practice field.  I never trained in the ways that the others did but I was still in pretty good shape.  My training consisted of running through the mountains to keep my stamina up and meditating in the middle of the community.     Hearing the sounds of daily lives and the occasional fight break out allowed me to drown out the monotonous sounds that would normally distract others. Many of the trends would come up to me while I did this and would try to break my concentration but they would never succeed.     No matter if they touched me, tried pushing me over, or would make very loud noises right next to my ears. In the beginning of my training with the Great Mother I had a hard time not breaking under the pressure. Now that I had been training for a while I didn’t have any trouble drowning out the ambient sounds.     ”It’s a fine morning isn’t it.”    ”It sure is Rosertina. “My wolf stretched and groaned as she finished waking up. She yawned in my head before shaking herself out. ”So what’s the plan for today? A run and meditating or are we going to do something more exciting.”     “What you don’t think that what we do is exciting?”     She huffed in response to my snarky remark. I chuckled before breaking the link and walked down the pack house steps. Pups ran around as they pretended to be in wolf form play “Alpha of the hill”. Mothers watched over them from a far in wolf form, twinkles dancing in there eyes from the little one antics. Passing by couples going about their days, every one I bowed my head to in greeting.  At this point in the year we were getting ready fora neighboring pack to come and stay for a few days but that wasn’t happening for another week or so. What was happening in the next few days was my birthday.    Already I could see some preparations happening for the occasion. What made the event more special was it fell on a full moon. My mother’s birthday fell on the half moon and she was quite powerful. I had asked  Mother Nature the other night what it meant for me to have a full moon on the same night as my 18th but she wouldn’t tell me. It was a bit frustrating. I had even gone to the library all of last week to see what happens but for some “strange circumstance” all passages referring to healer on those nights were blank. Hmmm jeeh I wonder why.       As I was walking around I found I was wondering closer to the practice field so I decided to stop by and see if brother was there. Seeing as he was going to be filling the beta spot when Axel came back he always helped lead the  workout regimes.  Looking at the group that was training now lead me to find that my dear brother wasn’t there.     Odd don’t you think Rosertina?     Yeah I would have to agree with you on that: I wonder where he is.     We can follow his scent and see where that leads us.      I immediately lifted my nose to the air to try and locate his scent and found it was in a jumble with the Alpha’s and, surprisingly Trevor’s the troublemaker. The scent though wasn’t coming from the training field though but not to far from the pack house. I followed it until I reached the Alpha’s house.  I was quite puzzled as to why he would be here and not training so I knocked softly on the front door to see the Luna coming to the doorway.       The Alpha and Luna had a house that was separate from the pack house do to getting ready for their true son’s, Axel, arrival.       He had requested a new space to be able to start practicing his Alpha duties with our generation, but it was also the house that i would have a portion of her birthday celebration in. The Luna and a few other ladies were setting up some decorations for the party. I could tell because they were ones that we had picked it in a catalog a few weeks ago together.      “Hey sweet girl.” Even though Luna Trista acted as a mom to Chance and I, I still called her Luna. She came out just to hunt to be able to reach me in a suffocating hug.     “Choking not breathing.” I gasped.    “MmmmmMm.” She squeezed even harder before letting go. My back popped with the last squeeze which felt kinda nice actually. I had been so sore that I didn’t realize that my back needed a boost. I grounded in satisfaction as I began feeling weightless. Luna Trista was a very kind and motherly woman but fooled everyone when it came to fierceness. Even Alpha Linx didn’t mess with her if she was raging mad.     As I stretched my back and groaned she chuckled before stepping back into the house. I walked in behind her and closed the door.  The inside was nice and airy. Immediately upon walking in the living room was caved down a little and to the right. There were stairs stepping down into the sitting area from the front door and another set leading into the kitchen. A hallway lead straight back from the door and broke off to a set of stairs going to the second level on the right while a walkway led around the corner behind the stairs.     A few of the pack women were setting up decorations showing someone lives in the house while also setting up decorations for my party. A majority of the festivities would take place outside, but there was going to be a pre-party if you will.     “How can I help you Rosey?”    The question caught me off guard completely. I startled and then gazed over at Luna Trista before lifting my nose to the air.     “I came in search of Chance.”     She smiled as me before pointing towards the back hallway that went under the stairs.    “He’s in the office.”    I nodded my thanks to her before heading in that direction. I walked around the corner, smelling Chance and Alpha Linx’s scents getting stronger and stronger.  I raised my hand just about to knock when I caught part of the conversation that was taking place.      “Are you sure about this Chance? We can’t get this wrong or will live to regret it for a long while. You understand the gravity and consequences of our actions if we are wrong correct?”    “Completely Alpha.”     “Alrighty then I am giving you complete charge of this event understand. There can’t be any mistakes.”    “I’m fully aware sir.”    “Good man. Oh and Rose you can come in you know.”    My checks turned fire red in shame and embarrassment at being caught, one, but also listening in on an important conversation. I opened the door and walked in shutting it and turning to find my brother studying me curiously.     I turned my attention to my Alpha and went to hug him. He smiled and walked from the desk to meet me halfway. He squeezed not as hard as the Luna but you could tell he was holding back his strength. I looked over at Chance to find him smiling at me and holding out his arms to.    I stick out my tongue to him and continued hugging the Alpha.     “Hey that’s a low blow. Where’s my hug?” He made a putting face before crossing his arms like a child having a temper tantrum.     I sighed with feigned indignation before walking over to him.    “Fine. Fine.” We hugged and it felt like it always did, almost as if we hadn’t hugged each other in years when technically I hugged him a few hours ago.     “What’s up baby girl?” My brother asked.     “Just wanted to hug my brother but someone wasn’t on the training field so I came looking for you.” I looked between him and the Alpha and felt them both tense ever so slightly. Hmmm fishy fishy fishy.  “Everything okay? Is something wrong?”   “Nope.” They said at the same time.     I squinted at them in doubt.    Hmmm fishy.
