A look of absolute horror on Daniel’s face the moment before he falls unconscious is the most disappointing and satisfying thing I’ve seen in a long time. Once he’s out, Emily comes in, chuckling, having dropped her icy demeanor. “So,” she says, “What do you want to do now?”
“He doesn’t need a biopsy, does he?”
She snorts and shakes her head. “No, your big stud is teeming with viable sperm; it just can’t get past the blockages.” She rolls her eyes. “He thinks fertility specialists don’t collaborate. Once he started calling around, he became the local gossip.”
“And Weiss?” How to deal with him? My lesson for Daniel is panning out well. I might even forgive him … if he never repeats this again. But the doctor who he paid off?
