Freya pushed Martin away from her and faced Jason who had a disgust expression plastered on his face. “Jason” Freya said, looking at her mate. She felt guilty but don't know why. “I've been looking everywhere for you and you're with….” Jason voice trailed off as he stared at Martin more disgustingly. “we have to go” Jason. Said “You can't, there's a lockdown, didn't you hear?” Martin said. “I don't care about what they said. Freya we have to leave here” Jason directed his attention to Freya. “Jason, we were specifically told to stay where were. Didn't you see the outbreak…” “I don't know who you are but what I want from you is to stop butting in to my business” Jason said voice came icy. “It's my business too, as long as Freya is involved” Martin defend. Jason let out a chuckle. “Are you being serious right now? Well mister, don't get yourself involve with her, I don't even want to see you close to her….” “Or what? Jason, if I can recall the last time I met you with her, you bullied and humiliated her. She cried because of you. You've been nothing but a bully and a pain in the butt” Martin got up. Both stood staring at each other intensely. Jason ignored his remark and grabbed Freya by the arms. “You're coming with me” he said and was about to leave with her but stopped. Martin held her by her other hand, stopping them from going out. “If you want to get yourself killed, do that alone. Don't take her with you” “I order….” “You know you can't do that. This isn't your territory. I'm not one of your pack members Jason” Jason became so infuriated that he let go of her hands. “Consider what I said at the cafeteria permanent” Jason said, gritting his teeth. He turned to leave but stop at his tracks when he saw a wolf growling at him. It fangs opened and saliva dropping to the tiles. Jason took a step back and was now standing beside Freya and Martin. The wolf growl loudly and was about to Pounce on them, but Jason immediately drew out a wooden chair, raising up high, and slammed the beast on its head hard.the beast staggared back, slowing down before it could recover, they already ran away. The three of them dashed to the school compound and found it desserted. Blood stains everywhere, bodies lying scattered across the compound. Freya felt nauseous by the scene. “I think I'm going to be sick” she announced, running to a near by brush and vomited. Martin held her hair and pay her back. Jason could only watch and try not to react. “We have to keep moving” he said turning to the gate, that was wide open “Has no one survived?” Freya asked rhetorically. Martin sighed and followed Jason behind. They ran as fast as their legs could carry them as they were being chased by vampires. It didn't take long for Freya to be out of breath and wanted to slow down. Her pace reduced and Jason noticed this. “You can't stop now” he half yelled “I.. I'm tired” she panted and stop to catch her breath. “I need.. air” she panted, and stopped. Jason stopped at his tracks looking past her and saw a vampire hot on their trails. “s**t!” He spat, carrying her over his shoulder and continue the race. The navigated through the trees, dodging any logs in front of them. “Here” Martin announced, pointing at a dark cave, covered with leaves. The dashed in and stayed quiet. Jason put Freya down and adjusted his shoulders. “We should be safe.. for now” Martin said. The cave was really dark, that they couldn't see anything. Freya was scared of the dark, she clenched her hands and let out a heavy breathe. She was having a panic attack but don't want to make a fool out of herself. She closed her eyes shut and tried to sing a song her father had taught when she was a child, a song that'll console her anything she feels threatened and scared. The cave was dead silence that she heard her breathe shaking as her heart thud hard In her chest. Slowly she felt a hand on her, she opened her eyes again but darkness had engrossed the place. “It's okay” Jason's voice was soft. He wrapped his arms around her and patted het back. He noticed how scared his mate was and couldn't help but do something. His wolf can't stand it's mate being scared while his beside her. Freya let out her fears and embrace him. His warm body calmed her nerves. She took in a deep breath, sulking in the air of his cologne. It filled her nostrils. “We can go now” Martin said, peekin outside. “It's too dark, what if we see them again. I say, we stay still the morning” Jason said. “I don't think. Staying here is too dangerous, the wolves will smell us from afar and attack. Even you as an alpha can do anything about it” “It's best we wait for the morning. We can see clearly and escape. Leaving this night will only endanger us” Martin saw point in his words. He sat back down. “We'll sleep tonight, tomorrow we'll journey” Jason's voice was authoritative. Soon after, they all slept, except Freya, who couldn't shake of the fact that she's been saved by her rejected mate, worse of all, she sleeping beside him. She felt safe, her wolf was happy, she was happy. Her mate was protecting her. The next day, they set out again but never encountered any wild beast do it was easy to leave the forest. They arrived at their community and found it desserted. “This is taking a mild turn” Martin said from behind. “I think they've gotten here….” Jason was saying before his younger sister, Mary bursted out from the mansion. “Jason “ she said running towards him with an open arms, his mother following her, she looked troubled. “Mary, how are you?” He said, bending to her level. “Father is dead” she said without hesitation. The word stung Jason, ringing in his air. He gaze slowly met his mother but she averted it and went back to the mansion. “They killed him. Those things” the eight year old said. “Everyone was worried about you. They said you were dead but I never believed them. I always knew you would come back for me, because you promised” as the little girl went on and on, the trio stayed quiet none of them, had anything to say. Jason was at the brink of tears, but he blinked severally until it went back in. “Where's mom?” He asked suddenly, interrupting her. “She's in her chambers. She has been crying all day” “Come on let's go in” “I'll have to go back to my parents* Martin announced, waving at Freya before leaving. “I'll also… um” Freya said nervously “I have to go too” she waved at him and Mary waved back with a big innocent smile on her face “Please….” Jason said stopping her at her tracks. “Be careful.” He’s eyes softened and she held his gaze until he averted walking back in. She felt the need to be with him, to hold him, embrace him but….. “Hello” Freya called pushing the front door open. “Is anyone home?” She asked again walking into the house. “Freya? Freya oh thank goodness” Myers said upon seeing her, he walked in view and braced her. “Are you hurt? Did something happen to you? Where did you sleep?” He asked breaking the hug and scanning her with his eyes. “Dad, I'm fine.” “Are you sure?” he analyzed more. “Where's Mandy and Lily?”she tiptoed, searched the room for her step mother and sister. Myers just shook his head “Mandy is fine, Lily, however, was taken away by the wolves. I tried…” he stopped. “I tried to stop them but they were stronger and more vicious than I am. Mandy hasn't left the room ever since” he narrated ending with a sigh. Freya, later went in her room after having a quick lunch. She took her bath and wondered about her best friend- Vicky. “I hope she's okay” she prayed silently.
