A wolf appeared growling and snarling it teeth at them. Freya stood frozen at her spot unable to move, the rogue wolf was very close to her and there was no way of escaping. Her mind raced with fear as her heart throbbed in her chest hard.
“Should I run? What can I do?” These questions swirled her head. She didn't want to cause any scene especially not with Jason, he might be frustrated or lose his temper if she attempt to do anything stupid. So she decided to stay put and accept her fate. Slowly she began stepping back.
Jason's gaze flicked to her, his expression unreadable. For a moment, she thought she saw a flash of hurt in his eyes, but it was quickly replaced by his usual stern mask.
"Stay back, Freya," he growled, his focus returning to the rogue.
The rogue noticed her movement and hurriedly grabbed her by the neck and she yelped. Jason attempt to go for her but was stopped when the man, rogue, brought out a pocket knife.
By now, Freya life began flashing before her eyes. Jason's pack members, unison formed a semi-circle and the rouge and Chloe, their eyes blazing with warning
“Let her go” Jason said
“Or what, you'll take me to jail. I'm not doing that” the rogue said.
“What you're doing is also an offense, just put down the weapon and we'll settle this” Jason tried to be calm but he's patient was running out.
As he was trying to convince the rogue, a member of the pack sneak up on him and tackled him to the floor. As they wrestled the rogue to the ground, Freya thought of ways of escaping having to face Jason, she stepped back carefully but he noticed her movement and stopped her again
“Where do you think you're going? It's too dangerous out there stick with us” he said signalling his members to drag the rogue. I followed them behind awkwardly, hoping he wouldn't start conversation. The walk was silence, they all kept alert and moved in unison. Freya was anxious and wanted to exit there as soon as possible.
She doesn't feel comfortable around Jason. His presence intimidated her, he's really scared of him and he knows it.
Jason on the other hand noticed Freya was lost in thoughts and was moving backwards, he held her hand and kept walking without glancing at her.
Her cheeks grew red and her heart pounded heavily on her chest.
They arrived home safely and Jason let go of her hands. She didn't want him go at the same time she wanted him to. She bid them goodbye and went to her dinner where Sam had prepared them dinner. Mandy was no where to be seen perhaps she's still mourning her daughter.
“So how's your hike?” Sam said putting down a glass cup at the dinning
“It was going well until you know who showed up” Freya said, putting a spoon in her mouth.
“Tell me about it”
Freya narrated everything that happened and Sam got intrigued.
“Well I heard some rogue are on a hunt to feed the infected… I'm not sure. You shouldn't have roam round like that”
“I know, I was just bored and felt overwhelmed by everything”
“I understand. Eat before your food gets cold”
That night, Freya couldn't sleep a wink. Her wolf had become so anxious of meeting her mate. She didn't know what to do, her wolf was sad and becoming relentless.
She felt pain in her chest like she has been heart broken. She felt miserable and hurt, she couldn't bare it and cry herself to sleep.
Her wolf needed it's mate and she's refusing it.
Freya woke up a day prior to the school resumption. She had felt uneasy and so wary that it made her looked depressed.
Sam was worried about her but he understood the situation… she was being too hard on herself and it's weighing her down.
“Are you going to school?” He asked pouring a milk into a cereal
“I think so” she simply replied, pouring herself the same milk
“You look tired. Didn't you sleep?”
“Nope. I did not. My wolf hasn't slept in a while and it's affecting me”
“That's because you're denying it's right” Sam paused looking at his daughters face, she rolled her eyes at him before eating her food.
“What about Mandy? I haven't seen her in weeks now” Freya asked
“Well, I have given her some drugs, I hope she's getting better.” He simply said and silence fell between them.
“Why don't you want Jason? He looks like a young decent and vibrant man” he stated his observation
“I know he looks decent but he's nothing like that at all. He bullies me in school. I haven't told you this because I was wishing for school to come to an end so we could all depart. But fate has it's way.” She said grumpily
Sam sighed..
The lockdown ended abruptly and school reopened. Freya was very hesitant to resume, she didn't want to face Jason or Vicky but she had exams to write. She stood beside her giant mirror and analyze her clothes, making sure there's no atom of stain and wrinkles in them.
She packed her things, had a little breakfast then start walking to school… her school isn't so far from her house so it was easy to trek.
She got to the school, everywhere was so lively.. friends who hadn't seen each other for weeks were hugging. Couples were making out.. ew
She shook her head and began walking to her class, hoping to not bump into Jason. The thought of Jason made her heart race.
She got to the hallway filled with students and her anxiety kicked in again, she buried her head low and kept walking suddenly she collided with someone.
She looked up to see Jason, standing with his friends.. Zayne and Rayne, they're twins.
“I am so sorry Jason. I wasn't looking” she apologised and all eyes in the hallway was on her…
“Watch where you're going freak?” Zayne said angrily
“You should, or we'll teach you a lesson” Rayne chipped in. Jason just stared down at her without saying a word.
Freya wanted to leave when she mistakenly stepped on Brittany shoes.
“What is the matter with you? I just got those shoes, do you know how much it cost?” Brittany spat
“I'm sorry, I wasn't looking” Freya apologised. This is getting bad
“Sorry won't bring back my shoes, do something. Clean them with your clothes” Freya eyes widen
“I can't do that. But I can take you to the….” She was saying when a slap stopped her. Brittany slapped her. The hallway got silent and the only thing that was heard was the sound of her heartbeat.
She looked up at Jason who had a cold expression laced in his face. Her eyes pleaded for him to step in but he just stood there as the twins mocked her while Brittany humiliated her.
“Finish up with all these and let's get to class” Jason said, leaving them alone.
Freya was hurt by his words but what was she thinking.. he'll never help her, rejecting him was the best decision.
