Fiona’s POV
“There… are… two… of you.” I stutter.
There are two of them. Two of them. Is this new one going to run for the hills too? What did I do to the Moon Goddess to have two of them? I do not know what this means. Were they both my mate? Ivy was going insane screaming in my head. I knew that the Alpha sitting at that table looked different, but I could not put my finger on it. Now seeing them together, I knew the one on the stairs was Cullin, and the one that was in the meeting was someone else.
“Fiona, please can we talk?” Cullin says.
“Cul, I think we all need to talk,” the new guy says.
“Why?” Cullin looks so confused.
“I think it is a good idea, Alpha Cullin,” I say trying to break the tension.
“Come on Cul, Trust me on this.” The new guy tries to coax Cullin down the stairs.
“I do not need my big brother to fix my problems” Cullin spits out at his brother.
“Brother?” I ask.
“Yes Fiona, this is Calix, my twin brother.” Cullin passes him and approaches me. “Please can we talk?” He pleads again.
“Twins? You are a twin? Identical twins.” I shake my head, and motion to the two guys to follow me. “We really need to talk, all three of us.”
I head towards an office on the first floor. It wasn’t mine, but I was not going to have this conversation out in the open. I am mated to twins; I guess it's only fitting. Now, to get both of them on the same page.
“Both of you in,” I state as I open the door. They both go and sit on the couch. Now, that I know there are two of them; I can easily see the difference, while they are subtle. I don’t know how I missed it. Cullin smells like cedar while Calix smells like fresh-cut pine. Cullin is maybe an inch shorter while Calix has his hair cut a little shorter. Otherwise, they look identical.
“So… who wants to go first?” I joke as a jump up to sit on the edge of the desk.
“She is my mate too…” Calix stumbles looking between the two of us.
“Wait… we share a mate!?” Cullin exclaims almost jumping off the couch.
“Well, you two are twins right?” I smirk, and they both nod their heads at me.
“Twins, Identical twins come from the same egg, and mates are destined at conception, so identical twins share a mate. My brother probably will too.” I explain, as they just look like deer in headlights.
“So we are both your mate?” Cullin asks.
“Looks like it,” Calix confirms.
“Okay, so let's get on with it. I am assuming Cullin would like to reject me, do you want to too?” I ask both of the boys.
“NO! I am not going to reject you!” Calix exclaims.
“Sorry I ran out. I was still processing everything that you told me. It was a lot of information, and I was not able to process it all. I shouldn’t have left, but I did. I am so sorry. I hope that you can forgive me,” Cullin lets out in one breath.
“He is the i***t one. I am not rejecting anyone,” Calix rolls his eyes.
“Okay… Well if no one is going to reject anyone. Can we make a deal?” I propose.
“Nope, no rejecting happening here!” They say at exactly the same time. I giggle.
“Okay well… I do not exactly trust you and need to know you are both in before I can fully accept you both. So how about, two weeks. You guys stay here one week and get to know the boys and me. Then Isaac, the twins, and I will come with you for one week. That way we can make sure that this is going to work, and give you a chance to know the boys.” I try and reason with the two of them.
“But why?” Calix questions.
“There is nothing that you could do that would make me want to reject you!” Cullin cries out.
“Says that one that ran for the hills the second he heard that I am raising my brothers.” I snarl back at him.
“I will never forgive myself for doing it. I thought that Isaac was your chosen mate and that you already had pups. Then I walk in and find out you are just so amazing that you are raising your brothers.” Cullin pleads back. I can tell he feels horrible for what he did.
“What he is trying to say is that he is an i***t,” Calix smirks back at me. I am starting to see the big brother in Calix, it is a lot like how Isaac treats me.
“Okay, so you have two weeks to prove that you are both up for all this,” I say waving my arms around me.
“And you Fiona, have two weeks to make sure my i***t brother and I are worthy of you.” Calix tries to joke, and Cullin punches him on the shoulder.
“At least me, my brother can be an ass.” Cullin laughs.
“Okay agreed, and if I reject one of you will accept the rejection, and if you reject me I will accept. I will not force either one of you to be with me, and you will not force me to either.” I explain with a hint of command in my voice.
“One condition,” Cullin states.
“Yes...”
“If my i***t brother rejects you, I don’t have to too. Or if you reject him.” Cullin confirms.
“It’s every wolf for himself,” I confirm nodding my head, and they both agree to the terms.
“So one week here. We would leave on Saturday or Friday?” Calix asks.
“Saturday morning? That way I can keep it as normal for the kids as possible?” I question.
“Agreed,” they both say at the same time.
“So… what do we do now?” Cullin asks. I was starting to see that he was the more oblivious jokester one, whereas Calix was the more structured.
“Well, it's Friday, so after lunch is training. Anyone up for some sparing?” I ask. They both look like they don’t even know what to say. They have a deer in the headlights look, and I can’t figure out if they doubt me or if they are afraid to spar with me.
“I am the Beta of this pack remember? I run the training most of the time. “ I laugh, as they both look about to s**t bricks. I know I am small, but I am the strongest warrior in the pack.
“I just… “ Calix starts, but I cut him off before he can even finish his statement.
“You just think because I have boobs, I can not hold my own?” I quip. I was not going to let this slide.
“That is not what I was thinking!” Cullin tries to defend.
“Me either!” Calix fits in quickly.
“No that’s fine. You boys must have alpha things to do. I will go. Catch you later.” I say chewing in my lip.
I use my hands and push off the desk, and stop to fix my dress. This is reminding me why I hate dresses and skirts. This dress is so short, I am never letting Joey pick out my clothing again. Before the boys have a chance scurry out of the room. I race up to my room and change grabbing an apple on my way out.
Why wouldn’t I expect the Moon Goddess to give me twin mates that have both of their heads up their asses? I know Ethan and Evan would kill me if I reject them, but how could I not think about it. They have both just seen the made-up version of who I am so far. I am going to have to make sure they see the true me for the next two weeks.
Cullin’s POV
My mate is amazing. She is head strung and fierce, and she is a warrior. I think she scares me more than anything. She seems so strong and powerful, how will I ever be able to compete with that. She is a warrior, not that Calix cares. He only sees the cute dresses, but I see the way that she handles herself. She is truly amazing, and the best mate that I could have asked the Moon Goddess for.
When she said that she wanted to spar, I was just shocked that she wanted to spar in a dress. That all I could think about is what is under the dress. It makes my eyes glaze over and enter into a dreamland thinking about last night. It wasn’t until her voice changed from laughing to anger that I realized she was thinking I didn’t think she was capable.
Now, I am stuck in this office with my brother. He is fuming, He has no clue who is messing with. She is the girl that ignored the mate bond through a whole dinner. She hid from me for hours and was still able to joke with me and not give in to the bond right away. The second that she got word her brother was hurt, she ran and left me with a serious case of blue balls. This Goddess is raising 11 kids and not batting an eyelash and is the Beta of her pack.
“God she is stubborn. We are never going to get her to fall in line,” Calix complains.
“Dude, did you not listen to anything I told you. She is amazing, sweet, and wonderful. She is the Beta of the pack and raising her ELEVEN younger brothers. She is not just a plaything or a girl in a pretty dress. She is not like the girls you date Calix. I know we are identical, but I never thought we would share a mate.” I yell back and storm out of the room slamming the door behind me.
He is a player. There are not many she-wolves our age he has not been with. He likes girls that are made up and perfect princesses. I have never really messed around, and only have dated once, and that only happened because Calix needed me to take out his dates’ sister. Reason number one why, I made sure that I still have a chance, even if Calix royally f***s this up.
I wander around the packhouse trying to avoid my i***t of a brother. This pack is so much more organized and put together. Everything is running like a well-oiled machine, and it is amazing how happy everyone is. The pack is in amazing shape, and I can only imagine how much Fiona will be able to help our pack when we get home.
I wonder out of the packhouse and come up to the training grounds. It looks like The Alpha and his son are running the training today, and it looks like a few of the visiting warriors are joining the ranks today. It looks like the Alpha King is sparing with my mate. She is holding her own. For being as tiny as she is, she is fierce and fast. I get close to the field and go sit to watch. She is amazing, as she dodges hit after hit and hits him back. He long black hair is flowing in a ponytail, and she is only wearing a black sports bra and leggings. Even with all her movement, her hair stays in place.
Finally, it looks as if she finally smells me near and gets distracted and he gets her square in the stomach. She falls to the ground, and he helps her back up. For the next hour, she spars with him but doesn’t go down again. She eventually takes him down, and he congratulates her whispering in her something else. Once she leaves the field, I jog over to try and catch her.
“You're amazing. I have never been so captivated watching someone spar before,” I smile.
“What do you want?” She snarls.
“To see my beautiful mate. And did I mention how much of an i***t I am?” I try to joke, and she just rolls her eyes.
“I am sorry, but you have to understand that this is now the second time you have left me with blue balls.” I smile, and I finally hear her giggle.
“Last night at the dance, and then imagining you sparing in that short dress. But at last, my idiotness got me in trouble. I guess I need to get my head out of the gutter,” I keep going hoping that I will get more giggles, and I do.
“So please will you go out on a date with me? Tomorrow? And this time I promise not to run away even if the building is on fire.” I smile looking down on her. She is shaking her head but smiling.
“Sure I will go on a date with you. BUT I get to pick the place.” Fiona smiles.
“Deal.”
