CHAPTER 01: A Mysterious Guy
***rumble***rumble****
I heard the sound of thunder as it brightened the sky. I pulled out my car key from my black leather sling bag and got inside the car. I started the car's engine and drove my way to the laboratory.
"Hi, I'm doctor Amanda Sullivan or you can just call me Dr. Sulli." I have long brunet wavy hair. My eyes were teak wood, fair white skin and a great physique.
I'm a scientist specializing in evolutionary biology. But in my hometown of New Orleans, we have unexplained incidents. Most causes of deaths in New Orleans were reported as being attacked by grizzly bears or mountain lions. Bodies found torn into pieces and scattered on the ground.
" Dr. Sulli, aren't you going home yet?" Kat asked. She's also on the same field as me.
" You go first, I'm gonna finish this paper work first before I head home," I replied.
" Okay, I'll leave you then." She uttered.
" Bye!" I replied.
All my colleagues had already left the laboratory while I was still inside and completed all the paperwork before the weekend. I got up, then I stretched my arms when I saw a shadow crossing the wall in front of me.
"Wh.. who's there!?" I exclaimed bravely, but I was nervous inside me. I called my colleagues just to distract myself from overthinking.
"Kat?...Pete?...Miguel?"
I heard a creaking sound in the locker room. I walked slowly to see what caused this unnecessary sound. My white stilettos clacked so I removed them and tiptoed slowly. My heart was pounding so fast. I was so nervous at seeing what was happening in the locker room. But then, I looked quickly to catch the culprit who was causing the noise.
"Gotcha!" I exclaimed as I quickly glanced at the locker room to see what was in there and:
***Squeek! ***
"Oh! just a poor little rat." But the rat fled quickly.
I was about to go back into my office to get my stuff, but I suddenly noticed the door was open with blood imprinted on the doorknob and some on the floor. I was so frightened which made me almost scream.
My heart was pounding so fast while I was catching my breath. I don't know who opened that door in my office. My hands were shaking as I was about to reach out the doorknob to open the door completely.
But I heard someone inside calling for help, but his voice was weak.
I swiftly pulled the door handle to see who was inside. I was completely shocked when I saw who was lying down with a gunshot wound in his chest.
" H...help me please..." He uttered it as he was reaching his right hand on me.
Without any hesitation, I rushed in to help him. I took the operating tools to remove the bullets inside his chest. I injected him some anesthesia and quickly placed an IV line on his arm, then started the operation immediately.
I pulled out one of the bullets in his chest and it made him scream with an excruciating pain.
" Arghhhh! Careful! They're silver bullets!" he exclaimed, because the anesthesia hadn't taken effect yet.
I have to wonder if with these kinds of shots a normal person will die. And I was curious about the weird bullets that I'd removed from his chest. It has some sort of lettering which is kind of hard to understand.
After an hour of surgery, the patient was resting well, but I was wondering how come his heartbeat had gone back to normal. An hour had passed, and he came back to consciousness.
I was looking at his golden brown hair and a textured cut with fringes. He has light pale skin, a hunky body and winter gray eyes, while he was also staring at me, observing.
"I know what you're thinking. Your thoughts are messed up right now. You wonder how I was able to survive the gunshots. Now forget that it was a gunshot, just think that it was just a normal operation. "
I just heard someone was speaking in my mind through some sort of telepathy.
" What exactly happened to you?" I asked curiously.
He stared into my eyes and I heard a voice inside my head.
"Come closer"
" No!" I replied.
" What!? My compulsion is not working on you."
He moved quickly at lightning speed as he pinned me against the wall, but not enough to hurt me. I was totally shocked about what I had witnessed.
" Wh...who are you?" I mumbled in fear.
" Don't worry, I'm not going to hurt you." I just wanted to know why I could not compel you. " He replied gently.
"Wh...what compulsion are you talking about?" I mumbled while feeling frightened about what I had just seen.
He noticed the silver amulet necklace that I was wearing, then he ripped it off quickly.
" Hey that's mine! What do you think your doing!?" I exclaimed while feeling irritated by his actions.
" Now I can compel you." He uttered, then he compelled me to do everything about the operation.
"Hello, Dr. Sullivan." He said, while looking down at the name tag on my medical white coat. His eyes were fierce, which made me a little nervous.
I gulped my saliva as he brushed his fingers along my shoulder blade. He looked into my eyes and asked about what happened that night.
" Now, tell me doctor, what exactly happened lately?" He asked in a compelling tone.
"I...I don't know, wh...who are you!?" I asked blankly.
He came closer to me as I was pushed back into the wall. His eyes were so seductive.
" Stand still and don't make loud noises." He uttered and I couldn't resist everything he asked me to do.
He pulled me closer to him while our bodies were glued to each other.
"What do you want?!?" I mumbled in fear.
He slowly touched my neck, my clavicle, and pressed my chest to feel my beating heart as he looked into my eyes and smiled ominously. He sniffed at my neck while I felt the heat of his breath. I felt a rough, pointy thing scraping gently on the side of my neck. His hands were grabbing my two pinkish globes, which caused me to moan.
"Ughhhhh... ughhh..." But then I pushed him away, even though I wanted to scream, but I could not.
He laughed thrillingly.
"Ha-ha-ha, come on Amanda, I know you want it too." He uttered seductively.
I was surprised at how he knew my first name when only my surname was on the name tag.
As I looked back at him, he looked at me ominously while he let out white ivory fangs, just like in those vampire movies I used to watch. I wanted to scream and call for help, but I couldn't do it. I can't seem to recall what happened after that.
***Amanda!!!***Amanda!!!***
I slowly opened my eyes and I saw Kat, Pete, and Miguel.
"Amanda! What happened to you to you? " Kat exclaimed, while her eyes looked so worried.
I was looking at them blankly, trying to remember what had happened last night.
"Doctor Sulli, you forgot to go home last night, didn't you?" Miguel asked.
"I don't know, I can't remember what happened last night," I replied.
Pete was looking at me curiously, maybe wondering what happened to me last night.
I drove back to my house still wondering what happened last night, but I can't seem to remember. I parked the car in my garage and went inside the house.
"Oh! You're back! "Where were you last night?" My aunt Lilia asked.
" I was at the lab working." I replied, feeling unsure about what I said.
"Woah! So you're not sure? " She replied while she smiled teasingly at me.
"Lilia stoppp... I didn't go to club last night. I replied.
" Hey, chill, stop being defensive. I didn't say anything. She replied, then we both laughed.
Then she stopped suddenly as she noticed a little scratch on my neck.
"Omg! What happened to you? " She exclaimed as she touched my neck and scanned it with her eyes.
"Wh-what? There's nothing wrong with Lilia; I'm fine! " I replied.
"No, you're not; you have a small scratch on your neck," She replied.
I searched in my sling bag but I couldn't find it.
"Oh no, this is bad." She sighed while her eyes looked worried.
"Come on, it's just a silver amulet," I replied.
"Amanda, that's a gift from your grandma. It is said that it will protect you from a vampire compulsion. " She uttered it in a serious tone.
" What!?"W...wait, what are you talking about? You're creeping me out! " I exclaimed.
" They do really exist, Amanda. I wonder who took your necklace. " She uttered it curiously.
If they do exist, why am I still alive? " I exclaimed sarcastically.
"He finds you something special." She uttered
I laughed sarcastically.
"I'm not some kind of princess who was suffering from amnesia?" I replied, and I went upstairs while she was still talking.
"Believe me, Amanda, they really exist. You gotta be careful." She shouted while I went upstairs.
