Episode one
Blink blink blurry vision. Blink again, the images around became clearer. A final blink, an unfamiliar environment came to view. Uncomfortable, he tried to move but the brutal ache in his head forced him to give up.
"Oh my God. You're awake now." An unfamiliar voice rang into his ears. He inhaled sharply before turning towards the direction of the voice. His deep dark eyes fell on a girl of maybe five to six years old, staring at him with a pair of big blue eyes filled with concern and curiosity yet relief. Who was she? Before he could ask her, she scurried off with tiny feet which got him confused. Did he scare her or was it something else that scared her away??
He breathed slowly closing his eyes before opening them again in a really slow pace, because breathing was as painful as what he felt in his head. He got a chance to take in the view of his surroundings. He was in an hospital room not really a modernized one though. What was he doing here actually??? Why was he feeling so much pain? The worst pain was the deep and hollow feeling clawing at his chest like a monster's claws. A tear unknowingly fell off his eyes.
His head turned sharply towards the door hearing the sound of hasty footsteps. Two men steep in alongside the little girl from before. One of them dressed in a white coat , spectacles and a stethoscope hanging freely around his neck strolled towards him with concern. Checking his temperature and heartbeat, he tired to the other man.
"He's better but I have to ask him a few questions" he stated earning a nod from the other man.
"Do you feel pain?" The doctor asked turning back to him. He shook his head yet his free hand went direct to his chest. "So, what's your name little one? " He asked again. For a moment, the world around him stilled as he frowned......he hadn't the slightest idea who he was or where he came from. None of them seemed familiar to him. He felt completely lost as his dark eyes looked at the three people in the room. They were all staring at him with curiosity in their eyes.
" I .....I don't know. I can't remember anything." He replied finally making them all sigh.
" Mr.Boris, your patient has amnesia and it's really serious. " The doctor stated turning to the other man. The little girl sighed in horror. " Oh no!!! Is it contagious???" She asked with widened eyes. The two men laughed.
" Amnesia isn't contagious don't worry. He'll be fine and hopefully he'll recover his lost memories someday." The doctor replied. Mr.Boris smiled looking at the little girl named Pearl. Since they brought him to the hospital three days ago, she's been restless, checking on him every minute, now he's awake and she's shy. Looking at the boy, his age was probably seven or eight.
"It's a miracle he's alive. He's a strong one". The doctor stated and they smiled.
"You can introduce yourself now. I don't think he'll mind."Mr.Boris suggested softly as she walked towards his bed slowly. " H...h..hi I'm Pearl," she stuttered shyly playing with her fingers. His eyes dimmed for a split second before replying as fast as a swift air. " Hello Pearl". She smiled shyly. Thinking, since he couldn't remember his name, she could give him one at least before he recalls. The name of her imaginary guardian angel, she'd so much love for him to get it..
" Can I call you Michael?? Please?" She asked with hope in her eyes. His dark eyes searched hers to see if she was kidding but all he say was seriousness and willingness. He didn't like the name Michael but he was helpless at the time. It could be better going without a name till he remembers his.
"Okay" he replied as quick as a breath. Her eyes lit up in excitement as she jumped happily.
" Yeeeeeee nice to meet you Michael" she squealed as the two men laughed. The boy's Michael.
"I guess it's time to go home" Mr Boris reminded checking his wristwatch..this time Michael was going with them. The name home sounded weird in Michael's ears but he ignored it.
"Thank you so much doc" Mr Boris appreciated shaking hands with the doctor.
" Anytime. Take care of Michael for us" the doctor replied while Pearl supported Michael as he climbed down the bed as the three of them walked out of the hospital. A bus was waiting for them. They hopped in as the engine went into motion. Trees moved back rapidly through the window as Michael found it familiar...the only familiar thing that's happened to him since he opened his eyes.
