I'll Need You To Trust Me
Marie
Starting from today, my plan was to go on a strict no sugar diet. I mean, if I didn't want to die before I turned twenty from being overweight then it was in my best interest that I shed off a few pounds or more.
However, of all days, today was the day my mom decided to make my favorite Alfredo pasta and steak for breakfast. She even packed up some in my lunch box for lunch.
Oh well…
As I left the house, headed towards the school bus waiting area, I caught a glimpse of Aiden coming out from his family house opposite the street from mine.
Aiden Zayn Ferdinand was the Alpha in line to the Silver Raven Pack. That aside, he was the hottest guy in my grade, the most sought after sweetheart of most if not all the teenage girls in school and above all, he was my first love even though I would rather eat a king sized hamburger and die of obesity than to tell him.
The school bus was taking too long to come pick us up from the bus station. And with each passing time, I couldn't keep my eyes off Aiden who stared at the road, sighing loudly.
“I swear to God, if I end up going late for swimming practice. I won't let this slide.” He threatened, huffing and puffing like he could do anything.
“What school body do you think is best to report this matter to?” He asked, directing the question to me.
“I… I don't know.” I stuttered out, taken aback that Aiden would even want to talk to me.
Finally the school bus arrived, fully packed with students from various destinations within the pack all headed to the same direction; Quest Werewolf High.
At school, the latest gossip and non stop conversation that buzzed around every nook and cranny of the entire building was the incoming twenty fifth prom bash being held this weekend at the school ground.
As for me, I had no intention to attend prom, not because I didn't want to. But because no guy would want to be seen in the company of the school's fattie on such an auspicious and special day.
On my way out of the locker room, for my first class of the day, I stumbled into my only friend in school, Avery. She was in the company of her boyfriend who, unknown to her, kept on checking out the girls that walked past us.
“Hey girl… I've been looking everywhere for you.” She said, leaving his side to come hug me.
“So what are your plans for prom?” She asked, well aware of my answer to that question.
“There’s this thing I have to attend to this weekend. I won't be able to make it.” I lied through my teeth in the hopes that she would buy my excuse.
“We both know there is nothing going on with you this weekend. Don't lie to me Marie Claire…” She chuckled softly, nudging me playfully on the shoulder.
“Be my prom date. Let's make this year's prom about us girls.” She offered, holding me in the depth of her warm blue eyes.
“Let's do it!” I chimed excitedly, the both of us squealing loudly.
The day of prom arrived, Avery being a professional at anything she put her mind into, caked my face to perfection.
A gasp of disbelief left my cherry red lips, as I stared at the stranger staring right back at me in the mirror. Avery had outdone herself this time around, and I couldn't be more pleased.
“Is it too much… Do you like it?” She asked, visibly holding her breath.
“I don't just like it… I love it.” I replied, blowing an air kiss towards her direction.
Even my dress slapped my chubby skin to perfection. I felt confident, seen and for the first time I didn't feel the need to hide inside my shell because of my looks or appearance.
My dad drove us to the venue, and as usual left us with the ideal parental advice of being careful and drinking responsibly.
The moment he left, Avery pulled me inside the basketball court, the prom venue and handed me a cup of red wine.
“The plan is to drink until we drop. And have fun till the sun comes up.” She cheered loudly, taking a healthy sip from her cup, urging me to do the same.
In no time we both danced to the rhythm of the song that played in our heads than the soft ballad playing in the background.
“I need to take a piss… I'll be right back.” Avery shouted, even though I could hear her perfectly, before hurrying towards the direction of the rest room
For reasons I couldn't explain, my eyes, like it had a mind of its own, moved through the crowd of people on the dance floor and settled on the tall, lanky figure of Aiden.
To make matters worse, before I could divert my gaze elsewhere, Aiden took deliberate steps towards me, a coy smile that showed off his well aligned dentitions planted on his face.
“Hi…” He slurred out, the thick baritone of his voice, sharp and witty tonight.
“You look…”
“I know what you are about to say… save it. I really don't want to hear it.” I snapped, a flush of embarrassment creeping up my cheeks.
“Actually, I wanted to say you look beautiful. I don't get why you have to hide these beautiful curves for anything or anybody.” He commented, giving my body a good appreciative stare.
“T…tanks.” I choked out, feeling even hotter after his compliment.
“Wanna try something fun?” He asked, biting down on his lower lips in a seductive manner.
“So far it doesn't involve doing drugs and getting high. I'm in.” I pointed out, checking the area for Avery who was taking too much time to come back.
“It's none of the above Marie…” He replied, a smug grin filled with mystery plastered on his face.
“But I'll need you to trust me.”
