PROLOUGE
The sky was a dark blanket and the winds howled and moaned through the trees. The noise from the town that held her pack was gradually fading and with each step she took, comes the hit of reality that she has become a rouge. As much as she admit her mistake, she felt it was too cruel of her pack to send her away in the condition she was in. She was heavily pregnant and she was almost due, she was already feeling sharp pain, her pace was laboured and she panted heavily now. Her mate, Beta Orion just stood there, watching as she was banished, they didn't even care about her condition.
Infidelity was not accepted anywhere, but this was too harsh a punishment for her to bear. To be cast out of her pack in the middle of the night and in a vulnerable condition. Orion has always loved her. He has always protected her when they were at war and has been kind to her, even when some male wolves treated their females as weak objects only for the production of pups.
Suddenly, she felt she heard footsteps following her behind, but when she turned, she didn't see anyone. She could smell it, but the pain shooting through her couldn't let her concentrate on it. Her water broke and another unbearable bolt left her crashing to the ground and she cried out in agony, sobbing. The rumbling of thunder and the flash of lightning confused her. The road was lonely and there was no promise of help, but she was grateful that she fell by the bush.
She felt that presence again, stronger this time. Were they going to kill her also? she thought and wondered who was following her or have the vampires found prey tonight. The vampires were their eternal enemies, even though some of them were nice people, like the man that had captured her heart and the father of her unborn child.
The vampire King had captured her heart for an instant. People said he was brutal, but he had been kind to her and she had been caught in the spur of the moment and had had an affair with him. That one affair that night resulted in the baby she had in her womb.
"Ahh!" she screamed and her voice rang out through the woods. She knew now that the baby was coming. She needed to stay strong for the baby at least. She pushed her legs apart, took the blanket from the only bag she had left home with, and managed to spread it over her knees.
She didn't dare go to the vampires that night. The vampire queen won't have a wolf coming to claim that her seed was for her husband. The vampire queen would surely rip her apart and make sure she died in this vulnerable situation. She wasn't going to let it happen. Even though they spared her child, they would make life unbearable for him or her.
A rain dropped on her cheek, she peeked up at the sky and wondered why it was going to rain in summer. She wiped the tears falling from her cheeks and laid down on the cold earth. Feeling uncomfortable, she propped herself up with her elbows and pushed, screaming in pain in the process. She heard a rustling sound beside her and turned quickly, but no one was there. She was certain that she had been followed. For a while, she entertained the thoughts that it might be Orion following her, she didn't want to believe that he would let her go just like that. But when she concentrated, she realized that it wasn't a wolf. She was too distracted by labour pain to pick up the scent of whoever it was.
"Ahhh!" she cried again in pain as thunder clapped loudly and lightning drew zigzag lines across the sky. The rain started coming down in drizzles, hitting her face. She closed her eyes.
Then she pushed one last time, non-stop, harder, and relentless, her eyes almost bulging out of their sockets, her teeth biting her lower lips. Finally, the baby's head came and she knew she was making progress. When she finally pushed the baby out, her whole body spasmed and her eyes rolled up in surrender. The rain started coming down in sudden heavy drops, but she was so tired to even lift a finger. Life was leaving her slowly and all she wanted to do was hold her baby.
The sky grumbled loudly and ferociously while lightning sparked as bright as day. She kept losing strength and breath until all she had was a blurry vision, and then the shrill cry of her baby rang out throughout the whole woods. She smiled to herself, even if she felt she was dying, her babe was alive. Then she saw a blurry vision of someone, probably the person that had been stalking her. Whoever it was stood over her for a while, then they bent down and when next they stood up, she could tell they were holding her baby from the way their hands were clutched in front of them. She watched the blurry figure as it walked away. A lone tear trekked down her temple as darkness enveloped her.
Who was taking her baby away?

Orion was enraged, he walked up and down his chamber in the pack house. He was mad and frustrated at the same time. He was mad because his mate betrayed him and humiliated him in the presence of the whole pack. How could she cheat on him even after everything he had done for her?
He met her as an orphan and he had every reason to reject her when he found out she was his mate. That was what everyone had expected of him, but he had accepted her, taken her in, even when everyone was against her, he had stood by her and what she paid him back with was cheating on him with a vampire!
He loved her, and he still does, but this time, he had to do what his pack wanted or he would go rogue. He couldn't bear the hurt his mate had caused him, even though he loved her, but he couldn't go rogue for his enemy's baby. That seed inside his mate was a seed of a vampire, their eternal enemies.
He had watched as she was banished when she was heavily pregnant. He didn't want to appear weak to his pack members. Apart from being the Beta, he was also a fierce warrior and his duty was to his pack. He couldn't do what he might regret later.
But now, he was frustrated because he kept thinking of her condition. He could just hide her until she was put to birth then he would send her away. The baby needed to survive at least. He looked out of the window, it was raining heavily now and the thunder roared. He shook his head. He wouldn't allow her to get drenched in that condition.
He wore his raincoats and took an umbrella and a flashlight. He already knew a lie to tell the guards and anyone who asked where he was going. He stealthily left his room and the pack house and set out into the woods in search of his mate who betrayed him.
He combed the woods that night and when he finally found her belongings, neither she nor the baby was there. But he saw the trail of blood and the placenta which showed that she had given birth.
