MEETING ALPHA HELIOS

2083 Words
She felt his fingers tighten around her when her legs trembled. She blinked twice to make sure he wasn't a figment of her imagination but he was still there, still holding her. Helios Castillo, the boy who had rejected her seven years ago, claiming she was a weak human. He was now a man. A tall, broad man with sharp, endearing features and an unforgettable face. He was still the most capturing handsome man she had ever seen and he had matured into perfection. The line of his jaw had gone from defined to powerfully rugged, his lean arms and his lean body were now packs of big, strong muscles. His piercing green eyes were more intensive than ever and they were staring down at her quizzically. What was he doing in Elmwood? She willed her heartbeat to something approximately normal because she had long gotten over him. But she didn't see any recognition in his eyes. He didn't recognize her or was he just pretending not to? He was still arrogant to her even though he had done nothing but curse as she bumped into him. Then she suddenly realized she wasn't going to stare at him forever, huffed, and tried to wriggle out of his arms still rendering apologies. "I am sorry for bumping into you, Helios, but I have to go," she said quickly, forgetting that she was supposed to pretend not to know him too. "You know my name?" he asked, holding her firmly now, refusing to let her go, his eyes searching hers. She froze in shock for a moment and recovered immediately. Searching for lies to tell, she nodded her head. A smile crept into his face—a smirk actually, one Rain found too smug. "We have met before then, I'm sure I wouldn't forget meeting such a beautiful face. So where did we meet?" Rain had to fight herself from rolling her eyes at him. He was flirting with her and it was so typical of Helios Castillo, but his deep, smooth voice sent a warmth all through her body. "Well, I overheard it somewhere and your face is not that forgettable." She hoped he would buy that. Then she moved out of his hold. "Shall we have a drink?" he asked so casually that she felt resentment warring in her. He hitched his shoulders. "A couple of drinks maybe one or two glasses." She almost scoffed in resentment. He was still too arrogant and possessive and an unapologetic flirt. She knew him too well to fall for his pranks again. She was no longer that seventeen years old girl, seven years back who was shy and withdrawn, that girl who had been head over heels in love with him, that girl he had felt was not good enough for him. She was a strong woman now, a strong twenty-four years old woman, who knew what she wanted, and right now, what she wanted was not Helios Castillo. "I will pass," she said and moved away from their proximity. She went over to where her phone was lying picked it up and was ready to go. "Hey, wait," Helios called. She stopped in her tracks, waiting to hear what he had to say. For some weird reason, her heart was suddenly racing. He started to move closer to her and she wondered if he couldn't say a thing without coming so close to her. "Can I know your name at least? I know I'm quite popular, even though, we have been here for just a few months, but I feel it's a bit unfair that you know my name when I don't know yours." Still arrogant. Rain was not prepared to tell him her name, not that if he remembered her with it, it was going to change anything, but she just didn't want to associate herself with Helios Castillo or the Castillos as a whole, they were too elite for her liking. And did he say 'we have been here for a few weeks?' He and who? Did the whole Castillo immigrate? Did the Blood moon pack immigrate? If so, why? Why did they leave Autumn Falls? "Rain!" a female voice yelled her name, arresting their attention. Jenny was coming out of Sunset. Her wide eyes glanced between them in askance. Rain didn't want Jenny to assume anything she was too extreme with everything and had pestered her to get herself a boyfriend at least. Jenny's eyes stayed on Helios, but she moved towards Rain, then her eyes suddenly became wide. "Oh, my God. I hope I am not interrupting anything?" she asked. "Not at all," Rain quickly moved towards her grabbing her hand and leading her away from Helios and the whole scene, grateful that Jenny came out when she did, she had saved her. Something hit her as they were about to enter the door to Sunset again. Jenny had just called out her name and Helios would remember her with that name. She quickly turned to see the expression on his face but he was no longer standing there he was nowhere to be found. Jenny turned too and her grip tightened on Rain. "That guy is a werewolf, do you have any idea?" Jenny asked. "I know," Rain said still looking at the place where Helios was supposed to be standing. "You knew?" Jenny asked wide-eyed, even though Rain was not seeing her expression. "Did he tell you that?" Jenny gasped. "Oh, my God, are you his mate?" That brought a frown to Rain's face and she turned to look at Jenny this time and scoffed. "What mates? I am human and I will fall in love with one and live a happy life ever after." Jenny twitched her nose. "Is that what you want or what your mom wants?" Jenny asked. Rain eyed her. "It doesn't matter who wants it, after all, all she wants is the best for me. Now, let's go and have fun." Rain slid her broken phone into her back pocket and tried to drag Jenny into the bar, and stir the conversation away, but Jenny was adamant. "You might end up with a wolf, you know. First, you were a mate to a bloodline Alpha and he rejected you, now you met a werewolf that is smoking hot. It's a sign that your true mate is a werewolf, a good-looking one at that." "Stop bluffing," Rain waved it away. "I bumped into that guy and was just apologizing for that." "Do you mean your heart bumped into his? Did you feel any sparks? Any connections? Did he tell you that you are his mate?" Rain spanked Jenny's shoulder. "Stop being ridiculous." Jenny yelled and held her shoulder, her face crumpling into a frown as she feigned pain. "But you agree with me that he is smoking hot." Of course, Rain agreed with her, and he was not just any werewolf, he was still that wolf that had rejected her years back and they had just met again. For some reason, she didn't believe it was a coincidence and even though her heart spiked when his face flash in her mind's eyes, it made her feel uncomfortable in a weird way. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Rain! Her name is Rain. Such a unique name. He didn't remember anyone with that name but something about her was strickenly familiar, yet he couldn't put his hands to it. He kept repeating that name in his mind as he walked toward his car. She was human, but a strong one and this wasn't going to be his first time dealing with humans, but something about her threw him off balance. He knew he was a man who could turn heads. He knew just how good-looking he was and his looks had aided him to get everything he needed. The women, the contracts, and other things, and to crown it all, he was the alpha of his pack. He was so used to women fawning over him, he was so used to capturing attention wherever he went. His greatness always radiated about him and he was so confident in himself, he was so sure that he could just get any woman he wanted just by staring them in the eyes. His green eyes seem to hold charms of their own because it always makes any woman, be it human, werewolf, vampire, or witch feel so weak in their knees. Sometimes, he was glad he hadn't found his mate yet, because it was his excuse to be with just any woman he wanted. It was a good thing it wasn't a criterion for becoming an alpha in his pack. But Rain or whatever her name was made him feel so small about himself tonight, she had reduced him to his knees. At first, he had seen that spellbinding look in her eyes, but it had not lasted, it had disappeared almost immediately and was replaced by something like recognition and then resentment and it had hung between them throughout their conversation, although it had been a short one. He had a feeling that they had met before and she didn't just overhear his name. She knew who he was and there was a possibility that he knew her too, but why can't he remember her even though she felt familiar? He also couldn't pretend to ignore the little tingles touching her had brought to him. He had become even more interested in her when she seemed to be immune to his charms. She was the first woman who had made him feel resented and interested at the same time. Could she be his mate? He would have to find out who she was first and then find out if she is his mate. He watched the human and the wolf from his parked car until they went back into the bar. His plans of going to that bar tonight were ruined. Javier had recommended that place to him as a good place to have fun and make some friends. Even though he wanted to know more about her, he didn't want to come off as a stalker. Rain and Jenny parted ways by the junction. They had finally left the bustling part of Elmwood and had returned to their suburban areas. They had decided to hitch a ride home after a few more shots of tequila and they have been dropped off by the junction, where they would have to trek down to their various houses. While Jenny's house was a little outside by the road, Rain and her mother lived farther inside, almost in the woods. Rain had never stopped to wonder why her mom chose to live in that hidden part of town, in that small house, when she had enough money to get them a bigger house in a more convenient part of town. Rain had never been scared about it or anything, it's just that, that area didn't fit her personality. Only a few people were living there and she was a chaotic type of girl. She wanted liveliness but this place was too quiet for her. She turned her back from Jenny who had walked into her alley, after saying their goodbyes. Walking farther down the road that was only illuminated by low glowing lights hanging off poles, she felt a presence. She didn't know why, but she could feel a presence and could sometimes perceive people or even animals around her. She had heard it was a werewolf trait, but if she was one, she would have shifted a long time ago. She had watched the moon a lot of times, but nothing happened to her, no strange feelings, nothing. She became sure when she heard footsteps. Someone was following her or she was just being paranoid, maybe it was a late-nighter like her, just walking back home just like she was walking home. She didn't let fear envelop her, so she kept walking as casually as she could, not wanting to exhibit fear, but for some reason, her whole hair stood on edge. The footsteps grew louder and she had no other option but to turn, seeing no one behind her, she turned again to run home but bumped into someone else right in front of her. A loud yelp tore through her throat and she found herself falling on her butt, completely startled by the presence. Her eyes widened when she saw who it was.
