Chapter 5 How Much is Your Sperm?

784 Words
Cedric suddenly lost the desire to leave. He had never imagined he would run into her again. He quietly observed the unadorned woman before him with some intrigue. She had smooth skin, rosy lips, and appeared to be in great health. Thinking back to yesterday's glass of water and the smug, cute expression she had after successfully getting back at her ex, Cedric's heart fluttered a little faster. She had come here to apply to be a surrogate too? Given her personality, he found it hard to fathom. However, if she were to be the mother of his child, he might not mind the whole surrogacy thing as much. "Hey, sorry, I don't think I know you," Selena said politely, waving her hand in front of him to interrupt his thoughts. She was here to buy top-quality sperm. Why did she keep running into strange people? Cedric looked at her seriously, his deep eyes resembling a lake filled with unspoken emotions. He smiled and teased, "You owe me a drink." Seeing Selena raise an eyebrow in confusion, Cedric realized she didn't know what he was talking about. He added, "Yesterday, at the café, you took my water and splashed it…" "Oh! I remember now!" Selena quickly raised her hand, signaling him to stop. She was fully aware of the rest and didn't need him to repeat it! She had been so angry yesterday that she'd completely forgotten about it. Her face turned slightly red, and she shyly replied, "Once we're done talking, if everything goes well, I'll buy you a drink. Just consider it a way to make up for the water from yesterday!" Her expression amused Cedric, and he waved his hand, signaling Eric to step aside. Could she be the future mother of the company's heir?! Eric bit his lip, suppressing his excitement. He handed Cedric a file, gave him a thumbs-up for encouragement, and quickly retreated to the corner, pretending to be invisible. Selena, still holding her bag tightly, nervously asked, "You haven't answered yet. Will you agree or not?" Was he planning to end things after just a glance? "We have to talk first to make sure," Cedric said with a smile, waving the file in his hand. He politely gestured for her to sit down. "Besides, if we come to an agreement, I'm sure there won't be just one meeting." After Selena sat down, he took the sofa across from her. Selena took out the file from her bag and flipped through it, planning to learn more about each other. "Alright, Mason, let's begin." "Mason?" Cedric repeated in confusion, tilting his head with a look of complete bewilderment. He explained, "My name is—" But Selena didn't notice, cutting him off as she continued, looking at the file, "Your profile says you're 5'9." "Profile? I'm six two," Cedric corrected with a light smirk. He had already realized she might have the wrong person. A meetup that wasn't meant to happen. Perhaps it was fate who brought them together? Cedric felt a strange sense of amusement and chose not to clarify the misunderstanding. He was curious to see how long it would take her to figure it out. "And you're a..." She stared at the file stubbornly, her beautifully shaped brows furrowing in confusion. "Construction worker?" "Investment manager," Cedric replied, holding back a chuckle, correcting her one word at a time. But Selena didn't catch on. She kept asking questions, and finally noticed that the answers she received from Cedric didn't match the information in the file. Even if the sperm bank had falsified the information, there shouldn't be this many discrepancies. 'Such an unreliable agency! Not a single piece of information matched!' Selena couldn't take it anymore. Her eyes were filled with doubt and surprise. "Did that broker get anything right?" Frustrated, Selena grabbed the file again, biting her lip in vexation. The window in the meeting room was only slightly open, and the scattered sunlight through the glass cast a warm glow over Selena's face, highlighting her frustrated, pouty expression. Cedric silently observed her, feeling an unexpected fondness for her. She was so cute that, for a moment, he didn't want to tell her she'd made a mistake. He chuckled softly to himself, surprised that, workaholic as he was, he'd find himself spend time teasing a girl. However, Selena's patience had been drained by the series of events. Taking a deep breath, she gave up on searching through the unreliable information, casually tossed the file onto the coffee table, and boldly looked at Cedric. "So... Ok... You're a much better donor than I was expecting. But, I don't have a huge budget... How much is your sperm?"
