What did she just say?
She wanted to buy... his sperm?
"Pfft..." Cedric sprayed water out of his mouth in disbelief.
He slowly looked up, his eyes fixed on Selena's innocent expression.
The remaining water in the cup splashed around, spilling onto his handsome face.
Even Eric, who was standing aside pretending to be invisible, was startled. His eyes widened as he quickly rushed over, handing Cedric a neatly folded handkerchief.
Cedric swallowed the water in his mouth, took the handkerchief, and wiped his mouth, trying to calm his rapidly beating heart.
Did she even know what she was saying?
As the new head of the Rosenthal family, countless women lusted after his body, hoping to give birth to an heir, as it could help them enter the elite circles and change their social standing.
But no woman had ever been so bold as to directly ask to purchase his sperm!
God, what kind of miraculous woman had he been sent?
Seeing Cedric's exaggerated reaction, Selena tilted her head in confusion.
She didn't understand why Cedric was so shocked. Wasn't he here... to sell sperm?
As a sperm donor at the sperm bank, he shouldn't be hearing this for the first time...
Perhaps Selena's expression was too innocent, Cedric quickly regained his composure and spoke, "It's free."
Selena furrowed her brows in confusion, and then heard the man continue, "But I have one condition: you have to co-parent the kid with me."
Hearing Cedric's words, Selena was surprised, but more than that, she felt a sense of joy.
She straightened up, stared intently at Cedric, and nervously asked, "You need a baby? Are you being pressured by your family too?"
Selena hadn't expected to find someone with the same struggle as hers.
Cedric didn't answer her question. Instead, he fixed his gaze on her eyes, and after a long pause, he asked, "Something like that. Do you agree?"
Without hesitation, Selena nodded and answered eagerly, "Of course!"
Seemingly pleased with Selena's response, Cedric's previously serious expression softened. A smile tugged at his lips, his eyes warm with affection as he nodded slightly and said, "Good. Then we've come to an agreement."
He then instructed Eric, "She's the one. Tell legal to send me the contract ASAP."
"Yes! Let's have a pleasant cooperation!" Selena exclaimed happily.
Having settled the most important matter, Selena was about to leave, but when she remembered yesterday's glass of water, she still felt a little guilty. She blinked and turned back to look at Cedric, asking, "By the way, do you have time to grab a drink later? It's on me! I'm really sorry about yesterday."
*****
The crystal-clear blue sea sparkled with tiny golden glimmers under the warm sunlight.
At the end of a white boardwalk stood the high-end restaurant that Cedric had chosen.
After selecting a table, Cedric walked ahead and gentlemanly pulled out a chair for Selena.
"Please."
"Thank you."
Looking around at the elegant decor, Selena felt a little nervous. She glanced at Cedric and asked, "You know this place is pretty expensive, right?"
"I know." Cedric raised an eyebrow, signaling for Selena to continue.
Selena took the hint, looking around at the surroundings, and added, "The dishes look fancy, but the ingredients are cheap..."
Selena couldn't help but speak the rest of her thoughts.
Hearing Selena's words, Cedric chuckled.
She seemed to be the kind of person to blurt out unexpected and oddly amusing complaints.
At that moment, the restaurant owner approached and greeted Cedric familiarly, "Welcome back, Cedric. The usual, for two?"
"Yes, thank you, Jeffrey."
"Right away." The owner nodded and then turned to Selena, greeting her, "I wish you both a pleasant date."
After greeting the two, Jeffrey instructed the waitstaff to take good care of them and then left.
Once he was gone, Selena widened her eyes in surprise and asked, "You... know the manager...?"
Cedric nodded with a smile and explained, "My friend owns this place."
Upon hearing this, Selena's mouth fell open as she tried to hide her shock and embarrassment.
'Oh my God! What did I just say? I just bad-mouthed his friend right in front of him!'
"Hmm..." she quickly forced a smile and tried to salvage the situation, "Oh! I... I always thought the food was so inventive..."
Selena exaggerated her laugh, waving her hands, trying to use body language to prove that she didn't mean to offend anyone.
Then, in an attempt to hide her mortification, she grabbed the glass of water on the table.
Cedric watched her cute reaction and was amused.
Just as Selena was about to take a sip, she suddenly realized something.
She looked up at Cedric, "Wait, why did he call you Cedric? Aren't you Mason?"
