"Hi Alpha, it's been a while," she smiled. I nodded and followed behind her down the dark, red hall.

I could hear the annoying voices pounding my ears of girls turning the building into a sluthouse. But, that's not what I was here for.

"It's like you get more handsome all the time," said Lucy. She flipped her red hair and turned around.

Chapter 1: That Awkward Moment
© 2015 All Rights Reserved  Madeline's POV I looked at the coffee mug on the table when I walked down the stairs and immediately knew that my mother was awake. By the way, my mother wasn't such a ball of sunshine in the morning. She's rude. Like, very rude. I hated it. She must have heard me come down the stairs. "Madeline! You're finally freaking awake. Can you help me with the last box in the truck?" I rolled my eyes. I forgot to mention that I just moved to a new town. The town was pretty relaxing but my neighbors seem to always have fun. Parties, I mean. "Why couldn't David do it?" I said my voice trailing off once I walked outside. I knew she was probably swearing at me right now but seriously, her boyfriend is so lazy. I couldn't wait to see him today so that I could complain at how horribly lazy he is. He made my mom unpack all by herself... Talk about true love, eh? I walked behind the truck and looked over at my neighbor's house. There was a really handsome dude standing near an expensive car. He had dark, brown hair and boy can you say he sure did look like he went to a gym. Wow, he's so hot what the hell. Until he looked over at me and then I realized I was the one looking not so hot. I still had on my turtle pj's. This is so embarrassing. Curse my mom for making me walk out like this. I didn't think anybody would be outside. The unknown guy walked over to the truck. "Do you need help?" he asked politely. "Oh, this?" I said looking at the last box in the truck. My mom must have thought I was the Hulk or something because the box looked pretty heavy. He smiled. "Yes," I said. He stepped in front of me and lifted the box like it weighed like nothing. Wow. "My name is Jayson, what about you?" he asked. "Madeline." "Madeline," he repeated. "Yes?" I asked. "Oh no, I was just saying your name. You didn't have to answer," he said. Ok, I felt dumb. Jayson walked up the steps and I followed behind him. He walked inside while my mom was putting up some picture frames. "Oh god, no. Not that picture," I said to her. I looked at the picture of me when I was in seventh grade. I had on braces and my hair was barely combed. Great way to ruin my day even more. Jayson laughed a little. I bit my bottom lip hardly. I quickly grabbed the picture frame. "Who is this," my mom said looking at Jayson. She didn't even bother to say "hi." "I'm Jayson," he said reaching his hand out. She shook it and fake smiled. "Are you the neighbors?" she asked. "Yes we are." "Nice," she said and walked away. "She's rude," I whispered. "It's alright," he said. "I should get going. My mate has an appointment." "Your what?" I said. "Mate?" he said. "Mate. Like your girlfriend?" I asked. Jayson paused like he realized something. "Yes, my girlfriend." "Oh wow, you had me freaked out for a second," I said. Jayson smiled. I should stop talking now. "Are you going to Westham High?" he asked. "Most likely." "Nice. You can meet my sister," he said. "I will," I smiled. "I should get going," he said. "Right." Jayson turned around and walked right out of the door. He shouted goodbye and I did the same. I turned around and my mom was looking at me from the kitchen. "What?" I said. "You think he's cute don't ya?" she said. "Duh," I said. "You'll find even more handsome guys," she said. "Why?" I asked. "It's an interesting town," she said. Interesting.... -- Madeline's POV Get up. No.Get up. Ready... 1, 2, 3, 3, 3.... I heard my mom's footsteps coming up the stairs and my eyes immediately snapped open. I knew she was going to barge in my room and tell me to do something. However, she didn't tell me to do anything. She walked past my door and locked herself in her room. I was shocked and I was wondering why my mom was acting like this. I got out of my bed and walked towards the door. I was about to open my door when my mom swung it open. I looked into her red, puffy eyes. It was obvious she was crying - she tried to wipe her face. "Oh. Can you go to the bakery?" she asked me. "What's wrong? Are you okay? Why are you crying?" I asked. Her eyes began to tear up. "David broke up with me for no reason. I guess I'm not good enough for him," my mom said. I rolled my eyes at hearing his name. "You need to find a new man. I'm pretty sure the town has some," I smiled at her. She looked up at me. "No, it's okay," she said. My mother had the same features as me but with black hair. She was the complete opposite of ugly. I kept talking to her sweetly hoping she would somehow be nicer to me like the way she was right now. "What are you waiting for?" she said. My eyebrows raised. There was my rude mom again. I knew it was impossible for her to stay nice for a few seconds. She passed me a small piece of paper and it had a list of things she wanted. I looked at it one more time before stuffing it in my pockets. I walked past my mom and ran downstairs swinging the door open and then closing it quickly behind me. I looked over at the house next to me. They had really nice cars and I was wondering if James or whatever his name was, was awake. It was really nice out. I walked down the block past a few houses. I started singing, walking past more buildings. This side of the neighborhood was scary. I started hearing something behind me as if somebody were softly walking behind me. It was definitely a figment of my imagination and I was only paranoid. It's okay Madeline. Just a few more blocks. I picked up my pace and that's when I heard somebody breathing heavily. I snapped my head back and saw that there was nobody behind me. I turned around and was about to scream before the cold hand pressed down tightly on my mouth. I looked at the crazy man in front of me. He looked homeless. His hair was dirty and his nails were filled with dirt. His jeans were dark and wrinkled. He grabbed my arm tightly and my eyes widened. What the hell? "Say anything and you'll be dead," he said looking around. Then I felt something cold and sharp on my throat. Fear and adrenaline kicked in then that's when my heart started beating fast and I softly cried. Who was this man and what did he want from me? He pulled me into a dark alley and a bunch of bad scenarios ran through my mind. He kicked my knee and I collapsed to the ground. Pain shot up my leg and I tried wiping my tears away. I looked at the man and quickly tried to make a run for it. The cool air hit my face and then all hope was lost when I felt a pull to my hair. I fell back and the breath was knocked out of me. I noticed it was getting darker out. The man above me pulled me up by the back of my neck. I looked down at my clothes and my shirt was dirty. I took an opportunity to scream and I started losing it when I thrashed around. I yelled out and then was immediately shut up when I felt something sharp in my rib. I looked down and tried to pull the sharp object out but it was agonizing pain. I fell to the ground with my hand near my rib and that's when I saw blood. "Didn't I tell you to be quiet?" he whispered in my ear. This was all happening too quickly. He pulled me into the alley and threw me on the cold ground. I quickly pulled the sharp object out and was about to stab him back with it when I felt him smack my hand away. The knife was thrown to the other wall. The creepy guy got on top of me and started making his way up my shirt. He grasped my breast and I tried to pull him off me. He pushed my hand away and then my cheeks stung. I didn't even notice he smacked me. He pulled at my shorts buttons and then reality hit me. I kicked him off me and he flew away. I tried to get up but I only made it halfway until the guy threw me back down. Now I knew my knees were bloody and cut up. He flipped me over and I felt weak and helpless. I was loosing a lot of blood from removing the knife. He pulled my shorts down roughly and he started laughing. He applied pressure above me as he laid on top of me. Then I felt him grinding up against me. This little horny bastard was trying to get horny! I tried to pull him off me one more time but he just held my wrists tightly. He pulled my underwear down and he was about to pull his down until in one quick, swift motion he was off me. My tears were blurring my vision and I couldn't see the figure who was helping me. I tried wiping my eyes and saw that the creepy guy was already on the other side of the alley, unconscious. Who had enough power to pull him off me like that? I looked up and saw big, golden eyes. My vision started getting worse and a headache was kicking in. All I remembered was turning my head to the side to see my mom's bakery list wrinkled on the ground and dirty. ___________________________________ My eyes snapped open and I was cold. I felt tired and my body hurt. I looked up and saw absolutely nothing. I tried to look around but all I could notice was that the ground beneath me was cold. Pulling myself up, I looked around. The bright moon was trying to spill into the alley. I slid up the wall, using the wall for support. I tried to call out for help but my voice was cracked and dry. Fear kicked in again as I remembered that the man could still be in here. I looked around and almost cried tears of joy. The guy was gone and somebody or something helped me. A cop car rushed past the alley and my face dropped as hope for help was gone. But I was wrong.  A bright light blinded my eyes and many voices were talking at the same time. "She's here," somebody said then I felt a warm blanket thrown over me. I grabbed the blanket tightly. It was the only thing that was comforting me right now. The person who gave me the blanket, pulled me up and held me tightly. More tears streamed down my face as I looked up at the moon. I saw bright cop car lights through my tired eyes. Finally some help. Looking at the woods, something catched my eye. So many things were happening but I seemed to block everything out and focus on the bright, golden eyes that were looking back at me. _________________________________ "Honestly, I'm fine." I said. My mom was walking around the hospital room worried. "No. You're not. Your lip is split, your knees are cut up and all bloody. Your clothes are dirty and you have cuts everywhere and you want to tell me that you're fine?" she said. I started biting the dead skin off my lip. I didn't want to tell her that I almost got raped but I had to. "A guy followed me... He tried to rape me," I admitted. She stopped walking and looked at me with sorrow written all over her face. Then it was replaced with narrowed eyes. "Where is the guy?" she said angrily. I shrugged. I honestly didn't know where he was. "Somebody helped me. Something threw the guy off me and then I saw the man unconscious. But, how could somebody have so much strength?" I started talking to myself. "You didn't see anything? Who saved you?" she asked. I wish I knew. "I don't know. I saw these eyes. They were glowing and they were big," I said. Jayson looked at me then at the floor like he knew something I didn't know. "What? Do you know what it was?" I asked him. He shook his head but I had a feeling that he knew. "I don't know but I do know that I'm going to start giving you rides to school," Jayson said looking at my mom. Oh my goodness, seriously? I'm pretty sure I can handle my own self. "No it's okay," I said. My mom gave me a look. "I have to," he said. I sighed out and leaned back into the pillows. "When can I get out of this hand sanitizing smelling hell hole?" I asked. "Today," my mom said. Relief filled all over me. I just wanted to go home and lay down on my big, soft bed instead of this hard, white one and just call it a day. My life would be amazing. But, no I have to wait. "Are you hungry?" she asked. My stomach began growling and I noticed that I was completely starving and thirsty. "I'm sooo hungry," I said. Jayson got up and grinned widely. _____________________________________ "Slow down cowboy," Jayson said. I took another big bite of the delicious burger. I felt ketchup slowly dripping off the side of my mouth but I didn't care. I was starving. My mom smiled at me and I think she noticed that she needs to be more sincere to me considering that I was the only person she had left since dad died. My eyes almost watered but I sucked it up and took another bite of my burger.
