Ava froze as she stared at the figure before her. She tightened her grip on Oliver, gently pushing him behind her. “Kai.” She whispered, trembling. “You are running away.” He said, with a deep voice as he took slow, intimidating steps towards her. He stood looking like a scene pulled from a magazine—Tall and confident. His singlet clung to his body tightly, highlighting every defined muscle and his six-packs. He wasn’t fine—he was dangerously handsome. His dark eyes stayed on her, then slowly shifted to Oliver, who was trembling behind her. “I’m not running away,” She hissed. “I need to take Oliver far from here. while I’m on my mission, I can’t let Babylon get a hold of him.” She shoved her hand into her pocket, pulling out a sharp knife, “you can choose to fight me….or let me go.” Kai eyes narrowed, silent and unmoving. But then, he rushed towards her. He grabbed her wrist, kicking the knife from her hand. He pulled her against the wall. Pinned her with his legs then covered her mouth. Ava struggled against his grip but then he gently place a finger on his lips, silencing her. She paused. Just then she heard sound of footsteps approaching. Some one was coming. Her eyes narrowed as she realized just how close Kai was to her. Her heart raced. She felt chills spread through her veins but this time it wasn’t cold. She felt butterflies. The footsteps slowly faded and then disappeared. Kai’s gaze was locked on her. Ava couldn’t move. She couldn’t help it, her heart with confusing excitement. His hands finally dropped, revealing her damp lips. He blinked, cleared his throat and took few steps back. “Go.” He said softly. Ava stared at him in disbelief. She was always a man of rules and discipline. He never goes against the rule of the syndicate. NEVER. She smiled faintly. “Thank you,” She whispered. She helped Oliver jump over the wall as she climbed behind him, but before she jumped, she gave a one last glance. Her eyes said everything should couldn’t voice. Just then, a loud alarm blew. It was a danger signal. Ava eyes widened as she jumped down quickly. A car was parked just up the street. She rushed towards it and assisting Oliver into his seat, wrapping the seat belt around him. She had barely finished when she spotted armed men in groups, chasing after them. “Oh no!” Ava heart pounded but she couldn’t afford fear. She jumped into the drivers set and sped off. Back at Eva’s mansion, she ran through the hallway in tears. She went straight to the parking lot and slide into her car. Her hands trembled as she tried inserting the her car key but it wouldn’t go in. She kept on trying, once, twice, three times. The key refuse to fit in. Then it finally fell off her hand. Eva screamed in frustration, slamming her palm against the steering wheel, over and over again. finally, she collapsed on it. She placed her head over the steering wheel as she cried softly. She shook her head repeatedly, gasping between sobs. Then she slowly lifted her head, staring into space. “I won’t marry him,” She whispered. A new fire sparkled in her eyes. She grabbed the key off the floor, the she inserted it again but this time, it went in freely. Her grip on the steering wheel tightened then she drove off in full speed down the empty road. The wind began to pick up. First it was gentle but within moments it escalated— the once gentle breeze turned violent. Trees swayed violently, dust danced furiously across the road. The clouds gathered, thick and dark. A sudden flash of lightning ripped through the sky as thunder cracked loudly. Soon after rain started, pounding heavily. Eva kept speeding through the storm. Realizing how heavy the storm was, Eva reached for the brake. But then the pedal sank under her foot, soft and useless. Eva eyes widened. She pressed harder again and again, but it was useless. Her heart pounded as she realized the horrible truth. The brake had failed. She tightened her grip on the steering wheel, trying desperately to control the vehicle. Just then, she saw headlights, sharp, blinding light from an oncoming vehicle driving fast. Too fast. The car horn continuously. Eva panicked, her heart racing fast. She shut her eyes as she realized there was nothing she could do. The vehicle had already closed in on her. Her breathe caught in her throat. The situation was already out of her control. She screamed loudly. And then, CRASH! Metals slammed against metals. The cars pickup off from the floor, launching into the air before slamming fatally on the floor. Eva body jerked forward, her head striking the steering wheel with a painful thud. And then, her vision blurred, sounds around her faded slowly and then all she could see was darkness. She slowly slipped into unconscious. At the other side of the road, thick black smoke erupted from the wrecked car. Ava lay nearly lifeless on driver seat, blood pouring down her forehead. She stirred weakly, turning her head towards Oliver. Tears slipped from her eyes as she saw Oliver covered in blood on the seat. “O….li,” she whispered brokenly. She squinted, reaching out her trembling hand towards Oliver. She gasp, struggling to breathe. Her fingers weakly brushed his arms but Oliver didn’t move. “Oliver…. Wake up.” She said, her voice barely audible. Her hands slowly slipped from him as her dimmed. Her head slumped to the side as she lost consciousness.
