Chapter 16 Bayley's POV After dinner, I was a little tired from walking around sightseeing. Don't get me wrong, I loved everything that I saw today, but it wore me out. I'm used to just hanging out in a room for a few days, then leaving when I couldn't find my mate. Now I'm here and I call it home, but I'm not so sure if home will accept me. After dinner, I helped clean up, and then we went to our room. That's where I took my shower, and since I didn't have clothes, he let me use one of his shirts that looked like a dress on me. "Your things will be here in the morning, so you will have everything that you need. Come on, let's get some sleep. We still have a long day tomorrow. I want you to meet my daughter; she's coming tomorrow around noon," Did he forget I had already met her? I'm her protector. That reminds me, I need to project over there to see how she is doing, but I will need to sleep first. "Listen, I know you're wanting to mate and mark, but can we do this tomorrow? I'm exhausted. I promise once the clothes get here and I put them away, and as Jessica leaves, I will drag you up here and mate you, and then we will mark each other." "I'm not in any rush, honey. It's when you are ready, but let's get to sleep." It didn't take long for me to fall asleep. I was really tired. I projected over to where Jessica was at. I saw that she was sitting in her room, now the alpha suit. She was looking out at the balcony. "I know you're there, I just can't see you. I hope my dad is making you happy. Just know that I'm okay." Wait, what? How did she know? Maybe she knew all this time as well. I stood there watching her, just making sure she was okay. I saw a single tear come down her face, and then she started talking again. "You know, I really thought my father was dead just like mom. I can't wait to see him tomorrow. I wish I could have met my mother before she passed on, but the goddess knew what she was doing. I know you can't stay long, but thank you for coming every night to check up on me. It means a lot to me. I will see you tomorrow." She was right. I couldn't stay long, but before I left, she said something else. "You know what? I think it's the reason why I hang out out here. It's because you know where I will be when you come and see me. Just know if any time you come and I'm not here, something has to be wrong." Then, just like that, I was pulled back. But I wasn't back in my body. I was pulled into a weird dream. I was walking along in the woods when she appeared to me: his wife that passed away. She was so beautiful. She came close to me and held my hand. "Don't be scared. I only have a little time. I'm here to warn you. Hunters are coming after you. They know you are the last of your kind. They are hiring a witch to get someone to look like me, to break you and Hunter up. Once he rejects and banishes you, they will come after you. I want you to be strong. Warn him about what I said. He can't lose you to Bayley. He will go crazy, and then they will have to chain him up because he will go on a rampage. He's done it before. I know he's slowly getting over me, and I'm okay with that, but don't let that siren get close to him. Once she touches him, he will be under a spell. He will kick you out. Tell him what I said. And Bayley, don't ever worry, okay? Yes, I loved him with all my heart, but I think you will love him even more." And then she was gone. My eyes shot open. What the heck was that? Was the dream really a dream, or did she really come to warn me? She told me to tell him. But how would he know? I had to go to the bathroom, so I went in there to use it. After I did, I washed my hands, making sure they were clean. Then I went back into the bedroom. I stopped when I saw him sitting on the edge of the bed. He had his head in his hands, so I hurried over there to make sure he was alright. “Are you okay?” he didn't say anything at first, so I caressed his arm then gently said again, “Hunter, are you okay?” He raised his head to look at me, shaking his head, then he said, “I had a dream about us. You were being hunted, but I couldn't find you. I couldn't find you on time, Bayley, I can't do this again,” I went down on my knees to look into his eyes. “Hunter, look at me, honey. Come on, look at me, listen to me, okay? I'm not going anywhere, alright? I have something to tell you, you might think I'm crazy, but I need to tell you.” That's when I told him about the dream. "She told me to tell you that you couldn't lose me. If that woman comes, she can't touch you. If she does, then the spell will be cast, and I will be gone. We will fight this, honey." Before I could stop myself, I reached up, kissing him passionately. I wanted him to know how much I cared about him. I've done things before, and I know he has, so it could be easy, right? Oh boy, I was wrong.
