Chapter 17

Hunter's POV

I knew I was sleeping. I was having the best sleep I have had in a long time until I started dreaming. It was a crazy dream with Bayley in it. She was laughing because I was chasing her. I kept laughing and saying, "Oh, you're going to get it good when I catch you." Then suddenly, I couldn't see her. I heard her scream for me to help her. I kept running toward her voice. When I got there, it was too late; she was gone. I woke up reaching for her, but she wasn’t there. I heard the water running in the bathroom. I sat on the edge of the bed with my head in my hands. She hurried over and asked if I was okay. I told her about the dream. After she calmed me down, she shared the dream she had where my wife came to her and gave her a warning. After our talk, she shocked me by kissing me. And let me tell you, she laid one heck of a kiss on me. I couldn't stop myself. I pulled her close, then gently laid her on the bed, shedding her shorts and top. I removed my boxers. I was hard as a rock, and I really didn’t want foreplay right now. It was late, and I needed her. I would savor her some other time, but at the moment, my wolf and I wanted to mate with her. Opening her legs wider, I could smell her arousal. She desired me as much as I did her.

Exhausted, I collapsed on top of her.

"If I knew it was going to be this amazing, I would have done it sooner," we both laughed as we cuddled and drifted back to sleep.

"Moon goddess, do you think this is going to happen? Will he listen to her?"

"I hope so, child. If he lets her go, it will be the end of him. He will be in the void, and I won't be able to pull him out."

"Is there anything I can do? I could go to him and try to speak with him."

"Child, we both know if you go to him, you'll want to return. What, then? It won't be the same. You're training to be a moon goddess; it's too late to go back. You won't be the same."

I sighed as I watched them sleep, yearning to protect them. I did what I could and hoped he would heed her words.

"Child, it's going to be okay. Let's go now; the higher-ups want to see us." I understood what that meant – they wouldn't allow me to return. Selena was right. If I did go back, I wouldn't be the same. I didn't want to return. I was content here. Until we meet again, my loves.

Bayley POV

The next day was a busy day. At nine a.m., a truck arrived with all the things that Hunter bought for me. I felt so bad because half of this stuff I would rarely wear. I'm just so used to wearing clothes for a few days, then buying more and tossing the old ones away. Maybe I should change that. I am in a pack now, and I'm going to be a Luna, or I am one. I'm not sure yet. Like I said, this is all new to me. We got all the packages that the delivery guy gave us. We took them upstairs, then opened everything up. We hung, folded, and put together several things. Once it was done, I was happy. It was a lot to do, but it was all worth it.

"Do I still have time to go and watch them train? If possible, I want to start training with them."

"Yeah, let's head out and see what they are doing. I'm sure they would be happy to see their Luna joining them."
