Chapter 20
Rose, Macey’s mother.
I was sitting in the living room with Roger. He had a sour look on his face, and to be honest, I was really getting sick of his attitude toward my daughter. When we met, I was already pregnant with Macey. It was a drunken night at a bar; I was drowning my sorrows as I was mateless and so tired of being alone. I was already on my sixth shot when this handsome man came up to me asking to buy me another shot. We drank together. We were too drunk to drive home, so we rented a room for the night, and things happened. When I awoke the next morning, I hurried to dress and left in a hurry. I never saw him again. Two weeks later, I found Roger. We were fated mates, but he knew I was pregnant. He didn't like the idea, but he said he would treat the baby like it was his. However, when she was born, he wouldn't hold her, and as she got older, he would push her to the side, acting like she wasn't even there. Now that she is 15, he wants her out, and if I didn't like it, I could leave as well. Did he forget this was my house? After I spoke to Macey, I went downstairs to confront him. He was smirking as he watched me sit in front of him.
"When were you going to tell me that you've been hitting my daughter? And don't you lie to me; I've seen the bruises. She has tried to cover them up. And if you forgot, this is my house. You came to my pack. So if you don’t like my daughter, you can leave, and if you ever tell her that she's weak, I'm going to show you differently. Why do you keep calling her an omega? She's not an omega, dude. You really messed up big time; you know this, right? I know she's not your daughter, but when you're under this roof, you will not hurt my daughter. Is that clear? I know we have rejected each other; the only reason why you're here is that you asked me if you could stay. Fine, you're here, but don't ever put your hands on my child again. Is that clear?" The look on his face said it all; he didn’t know I saw those bruises on her. Well, I did; I'm the one that works in this house. I'm a damn warrior, and it's about time that Macey finds out who her true father is. She might hate me. I've been looking for her father. Though I wish I never ran out of that room before I knew his name; maybe he’s forgotten all about me. Maybe he's gotten a mate and doesn't even remember who I was. He probably has forgotten about me, but that's okay; I understand. We were both drunk that night. He might have thought he was just dreaming; who knows? I have my daughter; that's all I need. The only reason why Roger is still here is that he wants to be here, but I'm about to kick him out of my house. I need to wait until Macey gets into that warrior training cabin to make my move.
Flashback
Alpha Parson Pov
I woke up with such a headache; I thought I was back home, but I was in this hotel room. I remembered going to this bar called the Wolfin Pub, but humans come here as well, so we always have to be careful not to wolf out or shift. "Wolf out" means when we find our mate, we start howling, then we have to fight the shift because we can't shift in front of humans. Walking up to the bar, I was smelling all kinds of scents, but one caught my interest. I saw a woman at the bar who seemed to be on her tenth shot of the night. Walking up to her, I thought I would buy her a drink. I was already tipsy from drinking at home, I just needed some company. I think I found it; she smelled so delicious; I wanted to taste her and lick her all up. At the end of the night, I didn't remember much. I know we rented a room for the night because we were both too drunk to drive home. I remember her name was Rose, and her scent, oh my goddess, her scent; I just wanted to howl at the moon, but humans were there as well. When I woke up the next morning, she was gone, but her scent was everywhere in the room. I wanted her to come back, but she never did. I think I'm going to a warrior competition to find the strongest warrior. It's going to be a lot of fun. But what I want is to find her again. Maybe that night, I put a pup inside her, and she couldn't find me again to tell me. I needed to get to my computer to see which alphas I knew; maybe then I could figure out who wanted to come for the competition. Anything can happen; it's just a friendly fight to see who the strongest is. And maybe, just maybe, I can find her again; who knows? If I can, then she's coming back with me.
