Chapter 22 Macey's POV I guess I drifted off to sleep because I heard someone knocking on my door. I slowly opened my eyes, yawning, then got up to answer the door. It was one of the new recruits, and she was smiling at me. "Hi, we were all looking for you. We didn't even notice this one in the corner. My name is Stacey, it's really nice to meet you. We were wondering if you would like to come downstairs to watch a movie with us." I thought for a moment; was this girl for real, or was this a setup by my dad to get me in trouble? Oh, what the heck, why not? If this was a setup, I'm going to go through it and see what he had planned for me. So I simply said, "Sure, I would love to. I hope all of you picked nice rooms." "We did, thank you. We are going to pop some popcorn and watch scary movies all night. We decided that if we went out, we might not make it back on time. It's a shame that some of us didn't show up, but like Mrs. Evans said, "we are all a family." They can try out again in four to six weeks. Come on, we are all waiting for you." Sighing, I really didn't want to watch movies, but since she was nice, why not? I'm just hoping we don't stay up too late watching these movies. So we both walked downstairs. I sat in one of the comfortable chairs with a throw around me that I brought from home. Two of the guys brought out bowls of popcorn, passing them out. Then they made theirs. The first movie was "Mirrors"; it wasn't really scary, but some of them thought it was. The next one was "The Hills Have Eyes." I really didn't like that one at all, and neither did any of us, so we changed the movie to something different. But we couldn't figure out what we wanted to watch, so we turned the TV off, ate the popcorn while we all talked. Everything seemed nice. They said their names and why they wanted to become a warrior. Some were cool; their parents were warriors, and they wanted to become one. Some said it's something to do to protect the pack. And then it was my turn. So I told them, "Well, half told the truth, "I wanted to become a warrior because I want to be strong and prove my father wrong. I know I'm not an omega, but I just want to prove to him that I can do this." They all nodded. Then the guy sitting on the loveseat with two other girls smiled at me. His name was Josh. "I can see what you mean. I know parents can be a pain in the butt sometimes. They want you to do better." "No, my mom, she always tells me I can do whatever I want to do, but my dad, on the other hand, says different." "Oh, I see. Well, your dad is wrong. We watched you out on the track; you're a badass. Never let anyone tell you differently. But listen, guys, we all need to rest up for tomorrow, or we will never get out there on time. Remember what she said? Five am. sharpen, and it's already ten." We all laughed, then got up to head to our rooms. Josh stopped me before I headed upstairs, "Listen, I don't know what your dad's problem is, but don’t let him get to you. Go get some sleep." “Thanks Josh, good night.” I headed upstairs, and as I heard a girl giggle, I looked down to see a girl flirting with Josh. I couldn't help but smile; he is handsome. If that girl is his mate, then she is the lucky one. Walking into my room, I went to the bathroom to do my business and then washed my hands. I then walked out of the room and finally laid back down. I was tired but had fun tonight. They were all friendly. I lay there, putting on my headphones. Sometimes, music makes me sleepy. I was listening to a song, "No Saviors," when I heard a voice. “Girl, how many times are you going to listen to that song? It's driving me nuts!” Opening my eyes, I looked around the room, wondering who the voice belonged to. I didn't see anyone or sense anyone else in the room. “Of course, I'm not going to be out in the open, silly. I'm your wolf. Have you forgotten about me?” Sitting up, I almost threw my headphones across the room. I was shocked; I haven’t heard from her since I was just a little girl. "Izzy, is that really you? I haven't heard from you since I was a young pup. Where have you been? I thought you left me." She giggled in my head and then told me, "I've been here. I've been growing with you. I'm sorry we shifted at a young age, but the Moon Goddess wanted us to. I never left you, Macey. I've always been here. We just needed to get away from Roger first." "But why, he's our mom and dad, Izzy. He would never have hurt us if he had known I had a wolf." "It's better this way. Once you figure out everything, you will be just fine. But I'm here now. Your birthday is next month, right? It's just in time for everyone to see our first shift. Well, technically, our second shift, but to them, it will be our first. Don't worry, I know it's going to hurt, but if it gets too much, I will take over." "I'm going to be 16. Isn't that too young for a warrior pup?" "Like I said, you will find out soon what this is all about. Let's get some sleep for training tomorrow."
