Chapter 6

Tessa’s POV

I knew I was late; it took longer than I thought. I got stopped for a speeding ticket. I didn't care; all I could think about was getting to Angela. It was crazy. The cop was trying to flirt, but when I told him I had a boyfriend, he handed me the ticket. After he walked off, I laughed and then took off. I couldn’t speed; I wanted to make sure he wasn’t following me at first. Then, I put the pedal to the metal. I finally got to her van. I followed the scent of a newly shifted wolf. Oh, fu*l, I missed the shift. s**t, I followed the scents. When I saw them, I ran to my friend, hugging her. "Angela, I'm so sorry I missed it. I got stopped for a speeding ticket, but I got here as soon as I could."

“It's okay. The alpha helped me through it, and then I let Bella take control; she shifted the rest of the way. But I need someone to drive. I'm exhausted from this.” I looked over at Alpha Austin; he was looking at Angela with a want in his eyes. I knew that look. I had a feeling that Angela was his mate, so I suggested, "How about if Alpha Austin drives you to the pack? That way, I can drive my car. Alpha, is that okay?" He smirked, then dropped it when Angela looked at him. 'Sure, if that's fine with her; I don't mind driving. I got here in Wolf Form, so it's fine by me.'

“I don’t care as long as I don't have to drive right now. As soon as I'm rested, I'm sure I will be alright.” I got into my car as the alpha helped her into the van. He shook hands with the other alpha, and then off we went. It took a few hours to get home, but we finally made it to the Red Oval pack. The pack gathered, welcoming me and the alpha home. They were curious to know about the newcomer. I was excited for her; she would finally have a home that she might love.

Angela’s POV

I knew Alpha Austin was my mate, but I was just too tired to care right now. Bella insisted on talking to his wolf. I don't care as long as I can get some rest. I don’t care who you talk to.

“We are just bonding. He’s so sweet; he says we are beautiful, and he can't wait for us to go on a run together.” I was just too tired right now to talk. From being rejected to running from shifting, what I needed was a good night's rest. I didn't know how long I was sleeping when I felt someone's hand on my shoulder. I felt sparks going up and down my body, and my eyes slowly opened, looking into the sexy green-eyed man who was my mate.

‘We're home. The pack wants to meet you. Are you okay with that?” Was I okay with it?" I yawned a little. I knew I was still tired, but I also didn't want to be rude and make a bad first impression on everyone.

“I'm okay with that, but can we go on a run tomorrow night? I'm still exhausted.” He chuckled and then said to me,

"It's fine with me. Come on, let's get out before they start knocking on the van doors." We got out of the van; people were all around us. Wow, I thought to myself, so many people. The Romans pack barely had over a hundred people; this pack maybe has over three hundred. Goodness.

"Guys, guys, give her some room. I would like for you to meet..." He stopped, looking at me. "Oh, what the heck, why not. I could go along with it as long as he wants to go along with it. Maybe this will work. Who knows." I smiled, then nodded at him. He smiled widely at me, then turned back to the crowd.

"I want all of you to meet my mate and your Luna, Angela Moore. She is newly shifted, and what I hear from Tessa is one heck of a warrior." Everyone cheered, then welcomed me to the pack. Once that was done, we did a little ceremony to officially make me a member of the pack, letting some of my blood spill onto the ground. Then the pack link opened up. I could hear everyone, but I knew how to block them out, so that's what I did.

"Alright, guys, I'm taking her up to the room so she can rest. We will have the pack run tomorrow night, so get some rest." He walked me up to the room, opening the door.

"It's not much right now since I never had a mate. But if you're okay with it, we can sleep in the same room. We don't have to do anything until you are ready. I will stay on my side as long as you want me there, okay." Well, that is sweet of him, but I won't be ready to sleep with him until I get to know this man. Some mates just jumped into bed together, but that was in my old pack, I don't know how they do it here. Pulling the blankets back, I forgot about my clothes. There was a knock on the door. He went to answer it. He was talking to someone, and then he shut the door. He had two duffel bags; those were mine.

"Tessa brought these up for you. She said she would see us in the morning. That way, we could unload the van." I nodded, taking one of the bags. He pointed to a door; I guessed that was the bathroom. I went to it. Yep, it was the bathroom. I did my business, then washed my hands. Opening the bag, I took out some night clothes, shorts, and a shirt, putting them on. I felt more comfortable. Walking out, I got into bed.

"I have some paperwork to do. As soon as I'm done with it, I will be back up, I promise. Try and get some sleep, okay?" He kissed my cheek, then left. I didn't have to be told twice. When my head hit the pillow, I was out like a light.
