she's gone 25

Chapter 25 Jessica's POV I thought they would have been back by now. I was healed and ready to go, but I felt my father's anger. He was furious to no end. What in the world is going on now? Getting out of the bed I was laying on, I got dressed and hurried to my father's pack house. I heard things being thrown and broken; something serious must have happened. I mean, yeah, me getting shot was serious, but he kept his cool until he found out that Bayley wasn’t with him. He told me to get some rest and then hurried out of the room. I ran upstairs into my dad's room and touched his arm. He quickly turned around, almost causing me to fall over, but he caught me. I was grateful because I would have fallen to the ground. "Where is she, father? Where is Bayley?" He didn't say a word. He just walked over to pick something up and then handed it to me. I started reading it. "I'm sorry, Hunter, but I had to leave. I will finish this. They killed my whole pack, my family, and burnt my home to the ground. I have my memories back; I'm going to hunt them down one by one. Once they are dead, I will be back. I know you're angry because I can feel it, but if I stay, they will do the same to you. Please forgive me, my love, I will return after this mission is done. Love, Forever yours, Bayley." Sighing, so this is the reason he is angry. She left, and he didn't want her to leave. Placing the letter on the only object that wasn't tossed at the wall, I then said, "Dad, she’s coming back. She will not stay away. She will be back. She's doing this to save us, to save this pack. There is no need to go on a rampage. Look at what you've done to your room. Listen, I'm upset as well, but what's the use of getting angry? It's not going to make her come back any quicker. What are you going to do when she comes back and sees this room the way it is? It's damaged now, Daddy. It's destroyed. What are you going to do?" He stood there, thinking for a while. Then, his shoulders dropped. I knew he was lost without Bayley, but I really didn't know what to do for him. "I don't know what I’m going to do. I just want her back. That's all. I want her to come home where she is wanted and loved." "Daddy, I love her too. But being like this isn’t going to bring her back any faster. Just get this place cleaned up, get some new furniture, and get a new window because she is going to notice that. Come on, let's go downstairs. You can drive me home. She's going to be okay, Dad." "I know she is. But she didn't have to leave like this. Not like this. I didn't get to say bye to her. I didn't get to try to make her stay. We could have done this together." I didn't know what else to say. I helped him clean the bedroom up. This place was destroyed. We cleaned it as much as we could before I needed to head home. I was an alpha to a pack; I just couldn't stay here. But I could come back in a few days to help Dad if needed. Something tells me he's going to need a lot of help. We left the house, getting into the car. He took a deep breath, inhaling something. I think it was Bayley's scent. She must have been in this car not too long ago. Dad drove me home. Once he dropped me off, I bent down and told him, "Dad, remember she's going to be back. It might take some time, but she will be back." I kissed his cheek and then went to the pack house. I needed to know something; I needed to see if she's been here. She told me once that if she had to leave, she would come and tell me. I waited a few minutes. I wanted to make sure that Dad left. Then I went into my office. I wanted to see if she left me anything. She meant more to me; she was my protector, and I loved her as well. She was my friend. Slowly opening the door, I was hoping she would be in here, even just a little. Stepping inside, I shut the door. I just wanted to be alone, then I heard her. ‘I was hoping he would drive off and not come in here. I didn’t feel like arguing with your father. Do you have everything I need?” I didn’t say a word. I ran up and hugged her. “I’m so happy you’re here. I was nervous I wouldn't be able to get to say bye to you.” “I know it's the other reason why I stayed, but I need to get going. If they figure out I'm here, they will destroy this place. Do you have what I left here, right?” “Yeah, I do. Hold on, give me a few minutes. I need to get to it. Moving to my filing cabinet, I moved it out of the way. Then I pressed on the side of the wall. When it opened, there were all sorts of weapons in the hidden room - swords, spears, bows and arrows, and even guns. They all had their own bag. While I was handing them to her, she was placing them in each bag. When done, I closed the wall and then pushed the cabinet back in its place. “Why didn't you just grab everything and leave? You could have just left a note.” Shaking her head, she told me. “I didn’t want to do that to you. Your dad already freaked out and ruined the furniture in the bedroom. Yes, I know. I saw it through your eyes. I can do that. I also saw how hurt he was. You're just like him, maybe even worse. So I didn’t want to do that to you. Just don't tell him you saw me. I don't want him freaking out again, okay? I need to head out. How's my horse doing?” “She’s doing good. She’s all ready for you. Good. Alright, you stay safe and keep your dad out of trouble. You did not see me, okay?” She hugged me, picked up her things, and then she was gone. I waited a few minutes, then looked out the window. She was riding away with her horse. I'm going to miss her. I just hope she doesn't stay away for too long. Dad is going to lose it if she does.
