Chapter 33
Bayley's POV
Guys, was this even necessary? I know Hunter had sent you to check up on me. You're lucky that I didn’t kill you. But you could do me a huge favor.” I handed one of the trackers a package with four items inside of it. There was also a note inside the package.
“I want you to take this package to Hunter. Then I want you to tell him not to send anyone else. I am fine. I had them all surrounded by a tree full of thorns that could kill them. One snap of my fingers, the tree branches will snap, and then the thorns would kill them. That’s how I killed the four hunters. They weren’t the last. The trackers were hunters. They were lucky I stopped the branches from snapping. What were they thinking? What is Hunter thinking sending trackers to see where I was at? Is he crazy? I told him I was doing this on my own. If the hunters knew what he was doing, they would come after him and the whole pack. I sent him another message from the trackers.
“I want you to also let him know that if he tries to track me down again, he won’t be able to find me, no matter how many trackers he hires. I will make sure of it. Now go before any more hunters come,” I watched as they left. They were scared shitless of me, good. They needed to be. I can’t believe Hunter would do this. As a matter of fact, I'll send him a mind link. Did he forget he could do that? I mean, for crying out loud, he could get people killed. So, I sent him a link. I’m not sure if he would get it, but I can force it so he would.
“Hunter, do not send any more trackers. I could have killed them. What were you thinking for crying out loud? I told you, I’m doing this on my own. If they knew what you were doing, they could come and kill you and then burn the place down.” I shut the link down. If it reaches him, that would be good. If not, then the trackers would give him the message. I didn’t make it four miles when another hunter came from the ground. The asshole dug a hole and waited for me to come along. He grabbed hold of my leg with a spiked glove; the spikes went through my leg. I screamed out because they hit the bone. he smirked, getting up from the hole by pulling on my leg. The more he pulled, the more the spikes went into my leg. I waited until he was up. Then I kicked him with my good leg. He went flying and hurried to get up from the ground. He screamed a war scream that hurt my ears. He knew what he was doing; he could make me deaf with that scream. Then I did my own, something they didn’t know I could do. I screamed so loud that he went down on his knees, holding his ears. His head was on the ground, pleading for me to stop. When I did, he looked up, blood coming from his eyes. Walking over to him, I told him to stand up,
“You are a new hunter. What made you come after me? What did they say I did?”
“Yeah, I’m new. They didn’t have to say anything. They said you’re the last of your kind, and if I killed you, I would be the winner.” I was confused. Winner of what? Winner of the assholes that killed my family and pack? Was he crazy or something? So I asked him.
‘Winner of what? Do you know they killed my kind, burnt down my home and my people. I am the only one left of my kind.” He laughed, then turned away. When he turned back, he had a silver dagger. He swung his arm, cutting into my chest. Hunters never learn; silver does not bother me, and neither does wolfsbane. I had a gash in my chest now, not deep, but it was there. Blood was dripping on the ground. He swung again, cutting a gash in my stomach. I grunted, “This motherf*cker, h3ll to the no.” He wanted to play this game; I can play it better. He swung again, catching his arm. I twisted his arm, breaking it, and then tore it off. Screaming in pain, shaking my head, I took the silver dagger, slicing his throat so badly that his head was hanging by a thread. He fell dead on the ground. I left him there. I was on foot now, as a hunter had yet again killed my horse. I ran to an abandoned house, found a way inside, and didn't light anything up to avoid attracting attention. There was a bed that looked like it could crumble, and I needed to heal, so I laid down to rest, hoping the hunters wouldn't find me.
When I awoke, I was healed. My lycan needed to rest as well. I lost track of time and the days. I missed my mate, but I needed to get rid of these hunters.
“Alpha, I miss my mate. Why do they have to come after me now, just after I found him and was happy? Why do they need to do this?” She sighed, also sad, not wanting to be out here hunting them down but longing to be with her mate. We both missed him greatly, but we needed to be tough.
“I don't know, Bayley. But maybe this is for the best. The longer we stay away, the better. The further we get, the further they do, too. I think we have forty left, but maybe more. I can’t stand these bastards.”
‘Neither can I. They are keeping us away from our mate and happiness. When we’re done with them, we will go back and claim what is ours.”
Let’s get this done and over with because I'm already sick of these hunters. There's no telling how many are out there.”
