A Stranger's Mercy My heart beats so fast, I crawled just so I could get away, but I wasn't so fast. The guard took me up on his shoulder again. Tasha looked at me with a pleasure in her face of finally getting rid of me. Tears flowing down my eyes. I was taken away. I didn't realize how dangerous the world out there could be, till I was taken to the lake. The guard dropped me, he stared at me for a while laying at the ground, “poor girl” He admitted. Why the sudden pity? He tore me from the pack, cast me aside without a second glance. He never even met my eyes, never spared me a shred of kindness. But now? Now, he looks at me with something that almost resembles care, as if regret has finally found its way into his cold heart. He left without looking back.something inside of me kept telling me it's a dream, I thought I was having a bad dream as usual, some nights are usually worse, but today's was different, and the difference was, "it wasn't a dream”. But I kept assuring myself that perhaps, or maybe the Alpha would realize I was innocent and send for me. I searched front and back, far and wide, but there was no sign of anyone coming for me, the gate had been locked from behind me, five miles away. Now I realized I could be there a thousand years and nothing is going to change. The cold water lapped at my skin as I lay motionless on the shore of the lake. My body is trembling with exhaustion. For a moment, I simply breathed, my shallow gasps mixing with the distant whispers of the wind through the trees. The damp earth beneath me pressed against my palms as I slowly curled my fingers into the mud, feeling the grit bite in my skin—a reminder that I was still here. With a shaky breath, I pressed my hands down and tried to lift myself, but my arms wobbled, I could barely hold my weight. My muscles screamed in protest, but I clenched my jaw, forcing myself to move. First, my elbows locked, then my knees dug into the ground, immediately sending a jolt of pain through my body. My vision blurred as droplets of water slid from my lashes,I tried to blink them away. I had to stand” I assured myself!. With one last desperate push, I staggered on my feet, swaying like a newborn fawn. My breath came in ragged gasps, my chest rising and falling in uneven waves. Slowly, I straightened my back, my legs trembling beneath me, yet refusing to give in. I was weak and broken. But I was standing. And that was enough. It's time I stopped crying "I assured myself! As I walked down the lake, I could hear the sound of my feet from the mud, but the sound was becoming too much, becoming faster than the way I was moving. I got to realize I wasn't just the one making all the sound, it wasn't from beneath my feets anymore, but the sound was of something else. Suddenly, something huge crawled out of the lake, a creature covered in wet, dark fur. A hulking shape, half-man, half-beast, Its glowing yellow eyes looked onto mine, with sharp claws, long fangs, growl that made my hearts rest. I turned to run, but the werewolf was faster, it crabbed me, snapping its jaws, I couldn't even dogged a thing. I kicked its face, but it didn't let go, pain shot through my arm as its claws scratched me deep. The creature's breath was hot, with a taste and smell of blood-my blood. I was pulled under the water, I struggled but the beast was too strong, I could barely see or hear a sound. The last thing I remembered seeing before I was covered with darkness was the gleam of its fangs, bared in monstrous, as it flew away. “Come sit with me, my love” Dario said to me! as he stretched his hands towards me, I walked slowly to him, what are you doing here? I asked! Quickly, he responded, what do you mean by what I'm doing here? “Come sit, I have a surprise for you” He continued! I asked Tasha to fetch your surprise, she'd be here soon. And what is that? He said to me! with a quick smile, you'd see. Finally Tasha is here, with a beautiful flower. Its fragrance is sweet and light, a mix of honey and fresh rain, drifting softly through the air. “Come on, take it” with his sweet voice and his smile was beautiful. It's yours, you deserve it. I reached out to it, but the look on Tasha's face, a werewolf while on an attack looks more happier. I didn't care why she was looking that way, I just got overwhelmed with joy, I jumped on his lap, “thank you” with a kiss on his cheek. You're always welcome, “I love you” he said to me! He reached out to me for a kiss. Just then, a voice pulled me away. “Hey” Wake up, My eyes opened slowly, I was dreaming, wasn't I? I found myself in a room where I've never been, as I searched widely with my eyes wanting to know where I was. Then I heard another voice just beside me, “you're awake, what were you dreaming about”? He was right beside me the whole time, but I couldn't see him. The warmth of the dream was gone, replaced by the cool quiet of reality, then I saw the person right next to me, (Kyle) looking concerned. He gave me a small smile, “seemed like a nice one” he said! “What are you talking about”? I asked slowly! “I mean the dream” he responded! I forced a nod,”yeah it was.” but as I sat up, the emptiness of waking up hit me. Maybe it wasn’t such a nice dream after all. What I had just dreamt about happened a year ago when Dario surprised me with a beautiful flower, Tasha wasn't happy about it, I saw it on her face, but I didn't care to know why. But now that I'm dreaming about it, I think I understand why. she's always been jealous of me the whole time. I just didn't see it, I thought she was my best friend. Who are you? And what I'm I doing here? I said to the man beside me! “I'm Kyle, a beta of the Blackwood pack” he responded quickly, "I found you at the lake, you were attacked by some beast, you were injured, so I brought you here so I can save you”. “Do you remember what happened”? He said to me! How long have I been here? I asked as my voice began to shake. “Three days” he responded! Do you remember anything? I don't, I'm sorry, all I remembered was how I was cast out from my pack, You were cast out, why? What happened? I'm sorry, I can't tell you, I decided not to say anything, I didn't want to expose myself to danger more than I've been, I didn't know anyone there, how sure was I that I could trust him. But the way he looked at me, sent a chill down my spine. His eyes weren’t just cold—they were calculating, like he was trying to decide what to do with me now. I swallowed hard, my hands trembling at my sides. Had I made a mistake? For a moment, he didn’t move. Just stared. Then he took a slow step forward. My heart pounded as he kept walking towards me!
