The Mark Of Blood
An old woman stepped out of a hidden spot. Much older than my mom would be even if she was still alive.
I stared at her just maybe I would know who she was, I thought I was still in Moonstone that I knew almost everyone.
She walked down closer to me, slowly as she approached.
“Don't be scared Lydia,I won't hurt you” She said!
“How did you know my name”?
“Oh come on,I know everyone's name, I always do!
Didn't Kyle tell you?
“Tell me what? As I held tight to the door in case she made any move, I would run.
“Oh I see, he hasn't told you yet” she continued!
Just then the door was pushed open by Kyle, just in time.
“Oh Kyle, I see you're here, I was just having a word with Lydia “ she stated!
“Who is she and what is she talking about, how does she know my name?” I exclaimed as I closed my eyes, battling back the years that were threatening to break free.
Kyle lowered his head as if battling something deep inside him. He stepped closer, his voice thick with emotion.
“She’s the Seer of the pack,” he explained. “That’s how she knows your name—she knows everyone’s name without being told”.
I barely had time to process his words before he continued.
When I found you at the lake, I saw a birthmark too on your hand, can I see it?
Hesitantly, I reached out to my clothes, I pulled the sleeves up, “there is it” I said as I stretched out my hand.
“How did you get that?” he asked as he held on to my hand.
“I was born with it” I didn't know much about it.
What happened to your parents?
Where are they? The seer said as she looked tenderly at me.
“I lost them both when I was young” I responded.
What was their name? Kyle said.
I didn't like this conversation, but I had no choice.
My father's name was Kael, and my mother, Selene.
Kyle dropped on the ground with tears rolling down his eyes.
I've never seen a beta cry, not even when I'm telling my story, they usually laugh and mock me.
I couldn't help but cry too.
“I’m your brother,” Kyle whispered, lifting his sleeve to reveal the same birthmark on his hand.
I stared at Beta Kyle, my mind racing.
Brother? That couldn’t be true. How could it be? It make no sense to me. I have spent years alone, convinced that I had no family left.
“You’re lying,” I whispered, shaking my head. “That’s not possible.”
Beta Kyle wiped his face, his chest rising and falling with unsteady breaths. “I wish I was, Lydia. But it’s the truth.” He turned his palm upward, the birthmark an exact match to mine. “This isn’t a coincidence. The Seer knew. That’s why she came.”
I stepped back, gripping my arm as if the mark itself were burning me.
“No… no. If you were my brother, where were you? Why didn’t you come for me?”
His face twisted with sorrow. “I didn’t know. I was just a child when our parents were killed.
The pack took me in, but I had no memory of you. The Seer always told me there was someone out there, but I never thought…” He exhaled sharply, his voice breaking. “I never thought it was you.”
I clenched my jaw wanting to believe him, but the pain of abandonment was too deep. I asked myself “Why now? “Why did it take so long?”
The Seer stepped forward, her aged eyes filled with understanding.
“Fate works in its own time,my child. The truth reveals itself when the moon wills it.”
I wasn't sure if I believed in fate.
Kyle reached for my hand, his grip firm but gentle. “I know this is a lot. I can’t change the past, but I won't lose you again,I promise.”
Tears blurred my vision. For so long, I had been alone. I trained myself to survive without expecting anyone to stay. But now, standing before me was someone whose blood we both shared —someone who had unknowingly been searching for me too.
I looked at Kyle, then at the Seer. My heart pounded, torn between fear and hope.
“Then tell me everything,” Kyle said at last. “I need to know the truth.” tell me what happened out there with you, I need to know” Tell me how they treated you, and why did they cast you away?
My eyes filled with so much pain and joy, as I reached out to him for a hug, he let himself free, that I could hug him so tight, and not wanting to let go.
“Isn't this beautiful?, perhaps, you should believe in fate!” The seer whispered as she excused herself from the room,
“Wait” my voice trembling round the room as I shouted!
“Tell me about my parents, tell me about my father seer”I demanded.
“You're a true daughter of your father, and a through child of your mother, speak to your brother now that you have one, and he would tell you everything I have told him”.The Seer said!, her voice calm and knowing. Then, just like that, she vanished into the wind, disappearing as if she had never been there.
“What has she told you brother”?
Tell me what you know!
“I would tell you everything, our father was a beta here in Blackwood pack, where she married our mother.
But one day they were attacked by another pack, called “Moonstone”
“Moonstone? My voice began to shake with fear and tears rolling down my face like a river.
“Yes” he responded, they made us orphans, they killed both mom and Dad, as if it wasn't enough, they separated us from each other, they took you away without looking back.
The seer took care of me, she's always been like a mother to me, she's been the one guiding me till I get to where I am now.
Enough about me sister, I think it's time you tell me what happened, tell me where you were, and why you were cast out of the pack.
“I was at moonstone” I breathe, my fingers gazing at his wrists.
Same Moonstone? and they did this to you? he roared, his voice echoing through the room as he slammed his fist against the table.
They'll pay back with their blood, for everything they've done to us.
“Yes,same moonstone. I was accused of stealing Luna's silver” I continued!
Tasha, she did that to me, she was my best friend at moonstone.
“How could you be accused of something they didn’t even find on you?”
My brother’s voice thundered through the room, filled with confusion and anger as he demanded answers.
“Actually” they did, and Tasha planted it all.she hide the Luna's silver on my bag, and made them search me,
“Why would she do something like that?”
He asked!
The Alpha prince Dario, was in love with me, and she was jealous of me, she always had been the whole time, she was just pretending as if she was my friend.
Kyle looked at me, his eyes burning with determination. “I always had one plan—to avenge our father’s death. I was going to strike them down and make them pay for what they did. But now, I have two things to fight for. I will also make sure no one ever dares to accuse my sister again.”
I met his gaze, my heart pounding. “And how are you going to do that, we have no Army, neither the equipment, I'm weak, I can't fight too, how are we going to do that?
Just in time, a voice murmured from across the room! the—seer, come I've got something to show the both of you.
I think it's time..she whispered!
