Chapter 27The door slammed, and he jumped. Kenna, who sat at their smallish dining table, did the same. Terrell looked up at them innocently. He went outside to hook the RV up to a charging station, and the door slipped out of his hand on the way back in. Dakota recovered right away. But the loud, sudden noise shook their young ward.
In fact, he noticed that a lot of things bothered her. Just last night, when Terrell had a small campfire going, she took one look at the blaze and hid inside their vehicle until Dakota put it out. Just seeing the flames terrified her. She went completely non-vocal, trembled, and cried. A panic attack. At least half an hour passed before she recovered. While the reaction made perfect sense given what happened, it concerned both of the adults.
