Her Hybrid Alpha (book 2)

Chapter 8 Darius POV

" Everyone quiet" Bridie shouts. She has to shout it a few times, but eventually everyone starts to settle down. Once they are quiet, she laughs mockingly and looks down on me like I'm some sort of crazy person. She sweeps a hand out in my direction. " Are we really going to believe some stranger we've never met? Who turns up here with a group of vampires and witches? We all know how Cage has betrayed us to go be with one of them. This is probably an elaborate scheme made up by them all". She walks down the steps towards us, her gait confident.

When she's nearing, she leans forward and sniffs, "Last time he was here he was nothing but a vampire, now he says he's the long-lost Shawn. He was just a vampire, so how can that be true ? ". She points at me more, murmuring. Looking at Cage, I saw the frustration on his face. He sees it too, sees through her. Of course, he would. She's his sister.

" My grandparents had my wolf muted. They had to because your, or should I say, our grandfather was trying to hunt me down to kill me," I snapped. Her nostrils flare, her eyes turning wild. "Don't speak ill of MY grandfather ". It's actually Jett that steps out of the crowd, his arms up in the air. " There is only one way to solve this. Shawn was thought to be the next high howler, right ? " He looked around at the crowd. " Well, show them, show them your wolf then how can she state you're not one ".

For the first time, I saw her hard face stutter. She actually looked worried , her arms dropping by her side. " That could just be an illusion. He lives with witches, does he not? They could just be making him a wolf by using a spell. He claims his wolf was hidden by a spell. Maybe it was actually made by a spell ". Cage laughs.

" Bridie, have you heard yourself? " He mocks her. She points at him. " You shut up, you're a traitor, I order you all off my land, guards get them off if they won't go kill them", she growls.

Hybrids step forward, and I have no choice but to act. " Vax now " I say internally, and he replies " my pleasure ". I feel my bones crack and clothes shed as I transform. I'm soon on all four paws and gasps and silence is all that can be heard. Then Anya leans towards Sophie, whispering. "Is it me or does he look bigger this time? " Sophie nods her mouth open slightly as she stares at me.

" Silver fur, and its size, can you feel that ?" It's a random woman in the crowd that spoke. People around her agreed, but the guards who had been advancing got orders to kill us all. Screeched hysterically by Bridie as soon as she saw me, they advanced on our group. The men all crouched ready to fight, but that's not what I wanted. I didn't want a brawl. So I leaped and landed in front of them and in the middle. I growl low in my throat , " Order them to submit", Vax says, and I ask him how.

" Feel the power in us and push it out of your body. They'll submit if they feel power ". The hum of power I feel below the surface humms along my skin, so I concentrate on pushing them out while I bare my teeth at them. It doesn't take long before they all roll over belly up. " Impossible it has to be Shawn " my head snaps up at a bewildered Leon. He's looking at me in awe. " You shouldn't be able to make them submit, not while they're loyal to another Alpha " he continues. Bridie slaps him across the face, her eyes flashing.

" He's an impostor, Shawn is dead " but no one believes her anymore. It's written on their faces, she looks around at everyone. She looks frantic and desperate. Then she raises her arms in the air. " ubbidire" she shouts loudly. Everyone seems to freeze around us, still as statues, even Cage and Mathew. It's eery all of them stood still not moving their eyes, looking blank. Dante's looking around us, so are the girls. Even Leon seems frozen.

Every Hybrid except Bridie and us , her eyes are glowing green . Her chest heaving " kill them all " her voice sounds funny, almost tinny and hollow. All the Hybrids around us eyes turn in our direction. " Sh*t we need to leave " Dante shouts. " What about Cage and Mathew? " Valerie shouts. Rose is looking at her mate worried too. But they look gone, blank behind the eyes. Their attention is on us and not in a good way. Claws and fur start erupting on their skins they're about to change. " We need to leave them. She's done something to them", Anya says.

We are all starting to back up into a group as the Hybrids start to advance. " I can't leave him " Rose cries. But the Jinns don't give any of us a choice. We are all transporting before the first hybrid pounces. We land back in the castle. " What the f*ck was that ?" Dante shouts. Rose is in tears and Valerie looks furious. " We have to go get them " she demands. Emily holds her arm. " Valerie we can't. We don't know what she did, but they were both ready to tear us apart along with the rest of them. She's just a hybrid. How did she command them all like that? What was it she said ? " Emily asked.

She looks towards Fero and Tiron. Their faces are both deep in thought. " She said Obey, " Tiron mutters. I nudge Anya, and she turns to look at me. I nod my big furry head in the direction " clothes " I say through our link, and she nods, following after me as I trot off. Once I'm in a bit of privacy, I go back, and she zaps me some clothes.

Grabbing her hand, I rushed back to our family. " Her eyes were green. What would do that ?" I demanded walking back. That hadn't gone at all, as I'd planned. " Legend Warlocks, they are different to your average one's the green-eyed thing. The story says legend warlocks do that " Fero says, and we all look at him. He looks deeply troubled. " What would warlocks be doing with Hybrids ?" I ask and he looks up at me.

" They deal in contracts and bargains. They do your bidding for a price. Most of them. Anyway, there's only a few left in existence that we know of anyway. No one's heard from them or seen them in thousands of years", Tiron states.

" So why now and why are they around hybrids, around bridie? How do we get Mathew and Cage back ?" Lisa says and everyone is silent. "We know hardly anything about them. In all honesty, They are not meant to be interested in menial beings. As we said, they are legendary, meaning really, ancient, like back in the days of God's and mythical beasts , they used to go after the gods. When they all remained strictly up there, they disappeared. They were Loki's prodigies, made out of bordem given powers they shouldn't have. Other gods hunted them and killed them off because they knew no right from wrong. Loki wasn't bothered, and soon got bored and left them to fend for themselves. The story's say three were never found and killed " Tiron points up towards the sky , meaning when the gods were told to stay put.

"So Loki made Fafnir, Vaxs father, as well as these legendary warlocks " I ask, and Fero looks at me and grins. " He used to get bored easily, always conjuring up one thing or another. Fafnir was meant to cause trouble, but he remained loyal to the moon goddess. He is the god of trickery after all ".

Dantes groans," Great gods and warlocks. Last week, the fates, a demon and dark witches. What next a giant three-headed unicorn coming to eat us all ? Let's get our guys back first. Can we magic them into the cells to see if we can break whatever hold this Bridie has on them. Then we shall revisit the fact we may have warlocks created by a god helping our latest enemy ". The girls all get to work with the help of the jinns. They need to be prepared to send them back, if they can escape the magic of the cells. Who knows what could happen if what the Jinns are saying is correct.
