Arrival
Karen's POV My van stopping with loud creeks as I slowly hit the break. I felt them miles before I could see them. I stoped fully in a safe distance and looked over the patrols who lined up across the road. Five omegas and a gamma. By now probably a beta is heading here too. I let out a deep sigh as I stepped out from the van and silently pray to the Goddes for getting out from the situation without another wound. Crossing a werewolf town as a packless healer not easy. Even if it was practicly middle of no where (in other words, 100 or more miles far from the nearby cities and towns). If I didn't heard about their situation, I not even wanted to come here. I am already know that this will be a very unprofitable trade, but I will be loyal to my late master's ideas and help on those who are in need. I slowly walking closer, while I kept my hands in the air, tried steady my pace and look friedly as much as i can. I looked to the Gamma for signing, I know he is in charge here. "I mean no trouble and harm" say to him. "I am a travelling healer, I came here to trade" The Gamma stepped closer too. His eyes narrowed as he looked over me. "What is in the van?" he asked. "Herbs and crystals. You can search it if you want, but I sincerly ask you to not broke anything. Most of them very rare and can heal the most dangerous illness too. Your pack's healer will probably certify my words." A car approach and stoped behind them. A tall man jumped out and the patrols are stepped back. Probably the Beta what I was expected to come. He is an indian descendant for sure. Short black hair and eyes, lightly brown, but not creol skin with several tattoos on his biceps and chest, what seemed tribe based patterns. These are well visible because he wears a sleeveless t-shirt with jeans and canvas shoes. His earthy scent pushed down the patrols weaker smells. He wasn't too much older than me. Maybe with ten years, maximum fifteen. So the Alpha is young too. Great. I arrived after the Alpha ritual. My chances dropped to almost zero, since new Alphas always trying to prove their authoritiy. "What's happening here?" he asked. "This rouge wants to cross the border. She stated she wants to trade with us" answered the gamma. I pushed down a growl when he called me rouge. I hate that word, even this wasn't the first time in the last five years when someone called me that. I lost my pack, not left them like rouges used to do. "Why are you came here, rouge?" asked the Beta. "I am a travelling healer" I say. "I would like to trade with your pack's healer, maybe collect herbs if your Alpha let me. I am intend to stay just a few days, fully under your terms. I mean no harm." "I never heard about travelling healers. Specially not rouges being healers, and you expect me to let you in? You are either brave or absolutly fool. Now get back to that wreck and go to the hell from here!" "With respect, Beta, this isn't your call. I requested to cross your pack's borders and accept or deny it is only the Alpha's authority if the laws didn't changed since I last checked them." I say firmly. I used to this kind of conversation since betas alaways acts like this. Maybe this is a requirement of their postion. I mean being a total jerk. "And I want to hear the answer from his mouth. So escort me to him or call him here." The car's back door opened and an older man steped out. He has tan skin and deep brown hair with matching color eyes. His muscels tense under his shirt and his scent immedietly filled the air with obedience. The Alpha..... Interesting. Alpas and their Betas always in the same age, but they are not. "No need to that" he said. All of the other wolves bowed to him. "I am already here. My name is Derek Miller, Alpha of the Thunder Pack. So tell me, girl, why are you want to come here this much?" The Thunder Pack. One of the oldests packs in the kingdom. Once they were the most fearful warriors of the kings, but the Godess wasn't kind to them. They suffered under her curse for decades what almost destroyed their Alphas pure bloodline from the pack's founder, who was the Beta of the very first Alpha of the werewolf history. So, yes, this pack is very famous. And here I come, offering the way out from the curse. "I belive I have something what your pack needs more than anything else now, Alpha. I have petals of night-lily" i bowed. They all became nervous from my words. Some of them quietly growl too. "As everybody knows, your pack suffered in the black claw decades by now because of the curse of the Godess. I don't know how you did, but you almost stoped it. You spread that you all cured by now, but both of us know that's a lie. Black claw is a very resistant disease and it can sleep for monthes before strike again. You already have sick members, aren't you?" His face became rigid. I hit the soft spot. Only the petals can cure the black claw. It's a rare disease what always appeared after someone disrespected the Godess or her will. The first symptom is always the same: the nails became black as obsidian. Then the virus spreads and attacks the nervous system what after two painfull week causing death. Healers were able to creat a vaccine around twenty years ago, but that's not final solution. The virus became weaker from that so the patient's own organ system get a chance to fight. The death rate lowered from 100% to 40%. The only cure stayed the night-lily, what sadly almost extinct by now. I find them by mere luck three month ago when rouges attacked me. I almost died that night and definitly lost a piece of my soul, but in the end, I left that valley with the most valuable herb on the world. "I came here to help your pack, Alpha. I am ready to give you all the petals what I have, exchange the same amount of a similarly rare herb what your pack has. I am even ready to find and collect them myself if you let me stay for a few days. It's a fair trade i think." "Yes, it is" growls the Alpha. "What's your name, girl?" "Karen Howards, sir." I bow again. "Then follow us, Karen Howards. I give you permission to stay in the Thunder Pack for a week. But if you cause any trouble...." he pulled his thumb in front of his throat. Yeah, I was find that out myself too.
