Collin POV
My plan didn’t happen as I planned. We were not supposed to go to war. Well, I was to have the upper hand having my pack with me. Cambridge pack would fight along the side of us and Prince Gray would be outnumbered. Now I am sitting in the hospital with a huge bite of my flesh missing. The doctor said I could be released in a few days. I’m not looking forward to going home.
“The doctor said that you will heal,” said Lance coming into my room. “I should have killed you,” he added.
I didn’t say anything. I stared out into space counting the minutes that he would leave.
“I thought about informing the council of your plot to kill Prince Gray, but I did even better. I contacted your father.”
I looked over at Lance with a puzzled look. I didn’t know what to think. Lance exited the room as quietly as he came in. I got out of the bed and found my clothes in the closet. The pain in my side was excruciating. I carefully put my shirt on being mindful of my stitches. I had to sit down to pull my pants on. Then I slipped my feet into my shoes. The nurses did not try to stop me as I was leaving the hospital.
“How do I get back to the palace? I asked one of the nurses.
“Take the walkway that leads through the garden.” she said.
The sun was high in the sky and beaming down on me as I slowly limped through the garden stopping periodically because of the pain. I made it to the palace and continued walking to my car. I sat in the car without starting it. Both of my hands gripped the steering wheel. I finally put the key in the ignition and started the vehicle. As I drove off, I looked in the rearview mirror to see Gray, Lisa, and Lance standing on the steps of the palace.
After two hours of driving, my home came into view. The feeling of relief washed all over my body. I managed to get out of the car and limp my way to the side of the palace taking the stairs that lead to the second floor. I used the wall as support to get to my room. I laid on my bed until the heaviness of my eyelids caused them to close.
King Vlad POV
I received a phone call from Prince Lance informing me of the events that occurred recently. I wasn’t sure how I was to take the information regarding my son. I had been receiving information from many of my pack members. I called for my beta. Nick came immediately to my office.
“Evening Nick, I hear that my son has made it back to the palace. I need to put an end to the things that are happening.” I explained.
“What would you have me do? Asked Nick.
“I need to first talk to my son. Then I will have you to do what you do to make things right,” King Vlad said with a piercing stare toward Nick.
“Are you sure that is how you want to handle things,” said Nick unsure.
“Because of my son King Odin is dead.” I stated.
Nick nodded in understanding. I paced the floor thinking of my next move.
“Bring me my son,” I stated.
“As you wish,” Nick said, departing.
I waited for Nick to bring me my son. I mind linked my warriors to come to my office. Nick and Collin came in before them. My back was to the door as I stared out the window.
“Hello, my son,” I stated as calmly as I could muster.
“Hello father. You sent for me.” He said.
“I have heard some interesting things regarding you,” I said, turning around to face him. I noticed the bruises he had on his face and hands. He looked a little nervous sitting in the chair.
“In your thirst for power, King Odin was killed. But your plan didn’t quite work out like you wanted because you were supposed to have married Princess Lisa first. Then you were going to come back here and kill me,” I said, bending at the waist to look him in the eye. “But that was not all you had planned. You planned to kill other kings as well.”
“F-father, I don’t know what you are talking about. I could never kill my own father.” Collin expressed.
The warriors came into the office with Collin’s beta Rich. Collin quickly stood up, winced from the pain in his side, and sat back down.
“What is he doing here?” Collin shouted.
“Well, he is the reason that I know all the information that I know. He was jealous that you were with Lisa and was wanting to get back at you.” I said with a smile.
Collin’s eyes were as big as saucers.
“Father, let me explain.” Collin begged.
“Take him and Rich away.” I commanded.
The warriors took hold of both men and led them out of the office. Nick assured me that things would be taken care of. I told Queen Rae that I was going to send Collin away for his protection.
Nick sent me a mind link that it was done. I didn’t ask for details. I sat at my desk thinking. My only heir to the throne is Luke.
