Lisa POV
I woke up dazed and confused. I no longer had a headache. My head still felt foggy. I could remember very few details of the previous day. I was still dressed in the clothes that I had on when I came home. “What is wrong with me? I can’t think straight. I remember telling Collin that I loved him, but I don’t know why I said it. But I feel like I love him. I am so confused.” As I was trying to process everything, I heard a knock at my bedroom door. “Come in.” My brother casually walked through the door and closed it behind him. He had a peculiar expression that was making me feel uneasy as he stood in the middle of the floor.
“I can sense that something is not right. What happened last night? Lance asked.
“I don’t know. I’m trying to remember. I remember Collin and I talking, eating, and drinking wine but nothing else. I could feel my wolf fighting in my head. I couldn’t reach her to find out what was wrong.” I said.
“Your wolf was fighting.” Lance said, putting his hand to his chin. We were silent for a moment contemplating that statement. “What do you think she was fighting? When did you fall in love with Collin?”
“I don’t know, after dinner. I just know he was so charming and wonderful last night.” I said dreamly.
“Don’t you remember that you are bonded to your mate Prince Gray.” Lance said, his voice beginning to rise. He pulled me up from the bed and moved me toward the mirror. Then he turned my head so I could see Gray’s mark.
“Prince Gray.” I feel love for him at the mention of his name staring at the mark. “How can I love two men at the same time? I ask my brother.
“I don’t know, but I am going to find out.” Lance growled.
I could see his wolf emerging as his eyes became dark. We heard a knock at the door. I went to answer it and there stood a tattered, bruised Prince Gray. His arm was wrapped around his gut as he propped up against the door pane to keep from falling. Lance sprang to the door. Gray leaned on Lance and me as we brought him into the room. We gently laid him on the bed. My eyes raked over his swollen lip down to his blood stained shirt. My eyes searched for more injuries. His clothes were a complete mess. My hands immediately went to my mouth, muffling my gasp that wanted to escape.
“How did you get here?” Lance asked.
Gray winced as he tried to bring his body in an upward position.
“I got done with the counsel early, so I wanted to surprise Lisa. My betas and I were ambushed by some rogue wolves.” Gray struggled to say. “It was late in the evening. They surrounded our car. I killed three, not sure how many my betas killed.” He said, holding his side. Then there was another knock on the door. I couldn’t move from my spot to answer who was on the other side.
“Mate.” My wolf kept screaming in my head all the while I stared at Gray’s damaged body. She wanted to kill whoever had done this. I was overwhelmed and confused as to why. The stench of blood and sweat filled the room causing my head to spin. The sound of people talking was faint in my ears. I was moved to the side as the doctor went to the bed to examine Gray.
“W-who called the doctor? I asked, still dazed and confused.
“Terry brought the doctor. He said he was outside when they approached. The doctor already checked out the betas. Gray sustained the most injuries.” Lance sadly stated.
“Doctor, will he be okay?” I hesitantly inquired.
“Yes, he just needs to rest to heal.” The doctor stated, leaving the room.
The doctor gave him some medicine that put him to sleep. Involuntarily my hand extended to Gray’s purplish cheek. Lance laid his strong hand on my small shoulder pressing the side of his head to mine before he left. I decided to take a shower to relieve the tension in my shoulders. I exited the shower and toweled off. I chose to wear my designer capris with a scoop-neck top. Gray looked lifeless on the bed. Again, I was drawn to Gray. I bent at the waist gliding my lips across Gray’s smooth mouth. Gray awakened and deepened the kiss sliding his tongue teasing my mouth. My eyes closed fully enjoying the pleasure he was giving me. He snaked his arms around my waist pulling me on top of him. I opened my eyes with clarity.
“I love you.” I declared, kissing Gray again.
“I love you too. I was determined to stay alive for you. I refused for our bond to be broken.” Gray said looking in my tear filled eyes.
“YOU CAN’T LOVE HIM! YOU LOVE ME!” Shouted Collin.
Gray and I jumped from the shouting. We didn’t hear Collin come into the room. I rolled off Gray to stand. Gray stood next to me with fist balled up. Both men were in a defense stance ready for the other to make a move. I jumped between them. I sent a mink link to Lance. He burst through the door looking between the two men. Lance grabbed Collin by the collar and dragged him out the door as he tried to break free. I could hear my father, Lance, and Collin in the hallway. I wanted to go to the door, but Gray pulled me back.
“I’m going to talk to your father.” Gray stated before going out the door.
