Chapter 3: The Week After

1077 Words
Sky decided to take them and keep them with her card in her purse as a memory of tonight. This whole wedding had felt like a dream. Sky didn't know how she should feel, but she felt like she had her own little secret. One just for her and Gabriel. As soon as Sky got home the next day, she asked her mom if she could use her laptop to go on f*******:. Usually she was only allowed to use it on Thursdays for a couple hours, but it being the summer, her mom had been a little more lenient. "Sure, but only for an hour or so," her mom, Sonja, said. "Thanks, mom," Sky said, hurrying to turn on her mom's laptop. The first thing she did on f*******: was search for her cousin, Gabriel Hayes. She found him under the name 'Gabe Hayes' and quickly added him. She also added her cousin Michael, who went by Mike Hayes on f*******:. She didn't share a last name with them, since they had the same last name as her mom, Sonja, and Sky had her dad's last name, Abbott. Mike actually added her back right away and started chatting with her. She had been so focused on Gabriel at the party, that she had barely spoken to Michael at all. He seemed pretty cool. She felt that they could be friends like she was with her cousin Tristan. She enjoyed talking to Mike, but she was really just hoping that Gabriel would come online and accept her friend request. At the end of the hour, she said goodbye to Michael and logged off, feeling disappointed. Sky badgered her mom over the next few days to let her go on f*******:. She tried not to seem too pushy or her mom wouldn't let her on it at all. She couldn't help it though. She kept thinking about holding his hand and feeling the warmth of his skin electrify her body. The hug, even though in front of her family, was still great. Finally, three days later, her mom was feeling generous and said she could go online for a few hours while she napped and watched TV. She logged into f*******: and saw Gabriel had accepted her request and she had a message from him! His message said, "Hey it was really nice meeting you yesterday." Yesterday. That means this was from the same day she had added him on f*******:! She quickly wrote back to him and said, "Yes you too! I am sorry I didn't respond the other day. My mom only lets me go on f*******: sometimes. I don't have my own laptop or phone yet." She waited to see if he would respond. It said he was online, but she couldn't be sure. Sometimes people leave their f*******: open and do other things. After about ten minutes, he responded. She felt her heart skip a beat when she saw the little message icon. She clicked it open and read his message. "I loved getting to know you. Who knew I had such a cute and cool little cousin? not me! hah, " he said. Although she still didn't like the little cousin comment, she loved that he thought she was cool and cute! They talked back and forth for an hour and a half. She didn't do anything else but sit there and wait for each new message. Finally, he said something that made her heart drop. "Sooooo just so you know," he wrote, " I actually have a girlfriend." A girlfriend. She could not believe it. She felt like such an i***t. Such a complete fool. She had been thinking about him non-stop for days and there he was with a girlfriend! She wanted to die of embarrassment. "Oh, that's awesome. Good for you. What is her name?" What else could Sky do but seem excited for him? He was her cousin, after all. He lived hours away and he was three years older than her. Sky wasn't even allowed to date until she was fifteen! "Her name is Christie. I go to school with her. I usually only hang out with her at lunch time and sometimes on the weekends though," he said. She didn't know what to think or feel. Maybe she could just be his friend. She felt heart broken even though it had only been a couple days of this crush. He sent another message before she replied to his first one. "I am kind of bummed we don't live in the same town. I would love to spend more time with you though. Christie is cool, but you are so much fun," his next message said. Her heart fluttered again, feeling a confusion of emotions. "Aw thanks. I think you are pretty awesome too," she said. Then she sent a riskier message. She felt her cheeks warm as she wrote it. "What would you want to do if just the two of us got to hang out together?" she asked. It felt like Gabriel was talking forever to respond. She could see the typing bubbles. Finally, his message said, "I would honestly love to cuddle up on the couch with you and watch movies. I liked holding your hand and walking you down the stairs at the wedding. I am sorry for making you go back up the stairs by the way. I was trying to be funny." Oh my gosh! He wanted to cuddle her! Sky imagined them cuddling on the couch together. Holding his hand and putting her head on his shoulder. It sounded so amazing that she felt a warm tingly sensation coming from her crotch area and her panties were wet. She liked this feeling but she wasn't sure what it was. For several months, Sky and Gabriel whenever Sky was allowed to use her mom's laptop. They imagined cuddling on the couch together, going for walks and holding hands and sneaking touches in front of their family. Gabriel turned 16 and Sky turned 13 a couple months later and started high school. Sky felt like she had her own dirty little secret, just for her. So, naturally, she told her best friend Kyra about it. Kyra was shy and didn't talk to other people very much. When Sky told Kyra, she didn't say anything about it being weird or gross, which made Sky very happy. She needed someone to talk to about this.
