I was waiting for Jayson, my husband to come back from the store.           I knew he wouldn’t be ringing the doorbell, so I went to answer, as I opened the door my heart fell, as I saw two officers standing there. I knew something was wrong, I just felt it in my heart. The same way I had felt it when our parents died.           “Are you Ruby O’Connell?” the blonde headed officer asked. “Yes, how can I help you gentleman today?” The brown headed officer said, “My name is Officer Shell. Do you know a Jayson O’Connell?”           “Yes, that is my husband, he’s not home right now, but I expect him anytime. He went to the store for a few things.” I said trying to delay the reason for them being there in the first place.           “Mrs. O’Connell, I’m sorry to say that your husband was involved in a major car crash? He has been taken to the hospital and is in critical condition. We are here to offer you a ride to the hospital.” Officer Shell said.           My heart sunk in my chest as tears began following down my cheeks. My knees buckled and I began to slide down the door, but the blonde headed officer caught me and helped me into a chair near the door.           “Mrs. O’Connell are you okay?” he asked. I replied, “No, my grandchildren are here, I can’t leave them alone.” “I’m officer White, I can call someone for you.” He asked. . . . . . .to be continued . . . . .
