The Alpha Within

“Oh, the big bad Alpha, you dared to come here, to me? You should've known better, mutt.” she spat through gritted teeth.     I had finally caught up to her, Alana, the dark witch. She'd evaded me time and time again. Now here she was surrounded by my warriors, in the outskirts of our packlands. She would not get away this time.     “You dogs do not learn, now do you,” she placed a heavy emphasis on the word not, crossing her arms in an act of defiance, “Ah well, you'll just-”    “You murdered our pack members, Witch. Innocent lives, children, my father. "I cut her off before she could continue.    Her eyes swirled as they shifted from a swirling gold, to a glowing reddish-purple color with gold specks a menacing smile creeping across her lips. Her glee showing through.     “It was all for a good cause, I promise.” she mused, taking a step forward, her eyes returning to gold.    I tried taking a step back, only to realize my body was frozen. My eyes shift around to get a view of my warriors. They too, could not move. I could see the fear and confusion in their eyes.     An icy hand is placed on my cheek, bringing my attention back to her. Her warm breath could be felt on my face, her eyes boring into my own. “You underestimate me, Al-pha. Just like your father did before you.” she clawed my face, digging her dark pointed nails deep into my flesh, blood staining her fingers.    “Thank you,” she said licking some of the blood that began trickling down her pale arm.     She twirled around, her long raven hair shimmering in the moonlight, “Now what should I do with you?”    “Ah yes, Grand Al-pha. I know exactly what to do to you. It will benefit me very much in our future. I will place a little curse on your progeny. You will understand very well once your mate gives life. Your father could not be the one to face me, so you shall face my ire” I didn't like the way she said Alpha or anything else for that matter, it made my hair stand on end. I had been too cocky.    Her eyes glistened as she licked her fingers, mumbling something as she did so, suddenly the woods became a blur in a dark fog and right before darkness took me, I heard her say, “My love, I will return ...”
