Part 1
On that tension-filled morning, the sound of debate rose in the newsroom of "The City Daily" newspaper, located in the heart of London, where journalist Jonathan found himself in a direct confrontation with the editor-in-chief, Mr. Arnold. Mr. Arnold (with escalating voice): "Jonathan, this report does not meet the required standards! I gave you a simple task, and I was expecting much better results than this!" Jonathan (trying to defend himself steadily): "I believe the report covers all aspects of the incident. I've verified all the facts and..." Mr. Arnold (interrupting sharply): "Facts? Jonathan, you know our mission is not just to recount facts; we need to tell a story that engages the reader, creates a dialogue! That's what makes us the leading newspaper in the city!" Jonathan (with frustration but a firm tone): "I'm doing my best, but it seems my efforts are not appreciated here." Mr. Arnold (with a sarcastic tone): "Appreciation, huh? Appreciation comes with success, and success requires..." Before Mr. Arnold could finish his sentence, Jonathan interrupted him with a determination, gathering a courage within himself he had not known before. Jonathan: "Perhaps it's time I find a place that appreciates the effort I put in and the passion I carry for this profession, a place that sees value in the work I do." A sudden silence enveloped the room, the colleagues who had been following the escalating tension between Jonathan and Mr. Arnold witnessed Jonathan's bold decision moment. Mr. Arnold, taken aback by Jonathan's reaction, tried to backtrack a bit: "Jonathan, there's no need for rash decisions, we..." But Jonathan wasn't listening to his words anymore; he had made up his mind. With confident steps, he gathered his belongings and left the room, leaving Mr. Arnold and the colleagues in utter silence. This moment marked the end of a chapter in his professional life and the beginning of a new chapter filled with adventures and mystery. After storming out of his job, Jonathan Moore walked through the city streets that suddenly seemed wider and stranger than usual, trying to comprehend what had just happened. He didn't know where he was heading; he just wanted to get as far away as possible from the newspaper office where he felt his value and effort were diminished. On that day, with the air growing colder and his steps quickening, Jonathan noticed an eccentric person standing at the corner of a street. This person was wearing a long coat and holding an old-fashioned postal bag. As Jonathan approached, the man called out to him in a low, hoarse voice, "Mr. Moore? I have a telegram for you." Surprised that someone knew his name in this moment of confusion, Jonathan stopped and looked at the man cautiously, "Me? How did you know my name? And how come I have a telegram here and now?" he asked with a tone laced with doubt. The man, without answering his questions, extended his hand holding the telegram and said, "I was instructed to find you and deliver this to you personally. That's all I know." "Who instructed you?" Jonathan asked. But he was surprised to see that the mysterious man turned his back on him and walked away quickly, disappearing into the crowd as if he had never been there in the first place. Jonathan stood for a moment, staring at the small envelope that seemed like a piece of the past. With growing curiosity, he opened the telegram and began to read the message written in elegant and precise handwriting. The message was cryptic, containing an invitation to a meeting at a place Jonathan had never heard of before, with a promise that this meeting would reveal information and secrets that could change the course of the world and, consequently, his life. For a moment, he hesitated. Everything about this situation was strange and unexpected, but curiosity and his desire to escape from his current reality pushed him to make a decision. Whispering to himself, "Perhaps this is exactly what I need," he took his first steps towards the unknown. In the depths of London's cold night, where raindrops danced on the ancient stone sidewalks, Jonathan Moore, the young journalist with an endless passion for uncovering hidden truths, walked. Jonathan, of average height with wavy brown hair hiding sharp blue eyes, carried in his heart a passion that exceeded fear and hesitation. He advanced with measured steps towards the building about which he had received a mysterious telegram earlier in the day. The building, with its old appearance and closed windows, hid stories from the past within its walls. Located in one of the side alleys, away from the noise and prying eyes, it seemed as though time had stopped there. Jonathan, with his usual curiosity, stood in front of the ancient wooden door, pondering how he had been chosen for this task. He pulled out his old pocket watch, a gift from his father, to check the time, then took a deep breath before placing his hand on the worn brass knob to slowly push the door open. The interior was dark and the air was stagnant, filled with the smell of old paper and rotting wood. Jonathan used his small flashlight to illuminate his path, following the wooden floor that groaned under his feet. The walls were lined with shelves holding dusty books and manuscripts, while old chandeliers hung from the ceiling, adding a majestic atmosphere that hinted at hidden secrets. As he wandered through the room, Jonathan stumbled upon a small wooden box carefully placed under one of the long tables filled with papers and maps. He opened the box to find a bundle of letters sealed with red wax, each written in precise and meticulous handwriting. The letters seemed to date back decades, yet the ink remained as bright as if written yesterday. Jonathan read one of the letters, which contained vague instructions and references to locations that might be keys to understanding the mystery surrounding a secret organization that controls the world. Suddenly, he heard footsteps approaching him. Quickly, he returned the box under the table and hid behind one of the shelves. His heart pounded violently, and his hand gripped the small flashlight tightly. He breathed with difficulty, trying not to make any sound that might reveal his location. The steps grew closer and closer until the mysterious woman, who seemed to know every corner of this place, entered. Elizabeth stood in the middle of the room, lighting the lamp around her, as if searching for something lost. Jonathan, from his hiding spot, watched her attentively, wondering about her identity and the role she plays in this story. After moments of tension and silence, he decided to reveal himself and confront her, unaware of the transformations that would occur in his life after this encounter. In the dark room, amidst piles of ancient books and manuscripts, Jonathan Moore stood before Elizabeth, his eyes filled with questions and astonishment. The stagnant air carried the weight of ancient secrets, and the silence between them was almost audible. "Why me? How did you find me?" Jonathan initiated the conversation, showing the depth of his curiosity. Elizabeth, with a complex look blending appreciation and caution, answered, "We didn't find you by chance, Jonathan. You found yourself on this path because you possess the ability and the passion to see what others hide. Your investigations, your articles... you've been gradually getting closer to the truth, even without realizing it". Jonathan narrowed his eyes, absorbing the information, "But, what is the truth you're talking about? What is this secret organization and what is its purpose?". "The truth is too vast to be explained in a single session," Elizabeth replied in a calm yet serious tone, "This organization, which you are now a part of, has been working for centuries to protect secrets that could change the balance of power in the world. We stand in the shadows, guarding knowledge that could either destroy or build civilizations." Jonathan takes a deep breath, trying to grasp the new reality that has been opened up before him, "And what do you want from me? How can I contribute to this mission?". Elizabeth walks slowly towards the window, looking into the dark sky, "You have a pivotal role, Jonathan. We work in the shadows to ensure the continuity of peace and safety. As for you, you have the ability to spread awareness through your writings, to educate people about the danger facing our world and how we can all contribute to protecting it, thus our goals are close and shared." Jonathan, in astonishment and surprise at her words, says: "Does it mean that I will help in raising awareness and protecting our community through my pen?". Elizabeth, with an encouraging smile, responds: "Exactly, you possess a talent that can make a real difference. We need people like you who can influence public opinion and steer the discussion towards important issues". Elizabeth walks slowly towards Jonathan and looks into his eyes, speaking in a husky and firm voice: "Your first task will be in Paris. There, you will discover a lot about our organization". "And what about the danger?" Jonathan asks, his voice reflecting a slight concern. "The danger is real," Elizabeth speaks, turning to face him again, "but remember, the secrets we protect are worth every risk, and you will not be alone. As an organization, we will support you at every step". Their conversation deepens, moving from the history of the organization to the specific details of his upcoming mission. They talk about the symbols and codes used throughout the ages to hide secrets, about the historical figures who were part of this hidden game. "And how will I know I'm on the right path?" Jonathan asks, trying to gather as much information as possible. Elizabeth smiles lightly, "You will know. Secrets always leave threads that can be followed, and Alexander in Paris will be your first guide". "Alexander?" Jonathan asks curiously. Elizabeth answers him: "Yes, he is one of the greatest guardians of our secrets, and he will be your mentor on this journey. But be cautious, the truths you will discover will test everything you believe in". After a deep and meaningful conversation between Jonathan and Elizabeth, which revealed the existence of an upcoming mission in Paris, silence enveloped their final moments together. Elizabeth stood holding a brown envelope and an old, carefully folded map, speaking to Jonathan with a voice that carried a tone of importance: "Jonathan, this envelope and the map will be crucial in your mission in Paris. The envelope contains information and documents you will need to review before your meeting with the mentor who will lead you on your journey. And the map, despite its age, shows a specific location you must visit." Jonathan, standing in turn, tried to absorb everything that had been said. Her words revolved in his head, weighing down his steps with their meanings. Jonathan, as he carefully takes the envelope and the map in his hand: "A specific location? Does this place relate to the secrets you mentioned?" Elizabeth, with a slight nod: "Yes, this place holds great significance for your mission and may be the key to understanding the secrets that have long been protected. You must use the map to guide you there once you arrive in Paris". Jonathan, examining the envelope and map intently: "And how will I know that I've reached the right place?". Elizabeth, with a voice filled with confidence: "You will know, Jonathan. The signs are on the map, and you will feel their significance as soon as you arrive. I trust in your ability to connect the dots and uncover the path". Jonathan responds hesitantly: "I will go to Paris, and I will find the truth, whatever it may be. Thank you, Elizabeth, for this trust... and for everything". Before Jonathan leaves the place, Elizabeth stops him with a final word, her tone carrying a mix of affirmation and a warning he hadn't noticed in her voice before. Elizabeth: "Jonathan, one moment". Jonathan, sensing the seriousness in her voice, turns towards her again, ready to hear what she has to say. Elizabeth, looking directly into his eyes: "There's something essential I must emphasize to you, under no circumstances should you attempt to open the envelope or the map before arriving in Paris. This is of utmost importance, not just for your safety, but to ensure the success of your mission".
