"Bring me a coffee," he said. His voice was low and flat. "My office." Then he walked the rest of the way to his door and went inside. The door clicked shut behind him. I stood in the hallway for a moment. Bringing coffee wasn't in my job description. I'd read through the assistant responsibilities twice last night. It wasn't on the list. But he'd said it, so I was going to do it. I headed for the break room. The coffee machine in the executive break room was newer than anything I'd used before.
