Chapter 2

"Aurora, get up!"I heard from outside my door. I groaned as I pulled off my covers. Ever since I had gone late to school last week my dad had decided to start waking me up himself. Two hours before school! I got up and walked into the restroom. I brushed my teeth, took a long shower and got changed. I dried my long blonde hair and brushed it. Staring at my pale skin in the mirror, I sighed. Sometimes I would wake up in the night to use the restroom and scare myself when I glance in the mirror. That’s how pale I was. I giggled at the thought before going downstairs for breakfast. "Morning sleeping beauty!" my Dad greeted. Apparently, the name Aurora fit me well since I sleep so much and Aurora was that Disney princess, Sleeping beauty. I muttered a response and slumped down. Mornings were the only time I was grumpy, give me an hour after I wake up and I'd be skipping around and singing. "Lucky charms?" he asked. I grabbed the bowl out of his hand and started eating. "Okay then." he sighed and went back to get himself some cereal. My Dad was a morning person and annoyed the crap out of me. After breakfast, I still had an hour and a bit before school so I decided to catch up on my assignments. "How's school?" my Dad asked from across the kitchen island. I shrugged. "Fine." "Anything new? Friends? Boys?" "No Dad you don't have to worry, there are no boys."I giggled, my grumpy mood wearing off. "Good, that's my girl." he smiled proudly sipping his coffee. "You're basically saying you're proud that no one wants to date me."I laughed. "Which means you're proud that I'm ugly." He frowned as he thought about it, then smiled."You're right." "Hey!"I shouted throwing my pen at him. He ducked and laughed. "Only joking sweetie, you're beautiful and I'm sure loads of guys want to date you but they can't cos you're not allowed to date until your eighteen...." He stopped as he realized something causing me to smirk. "Eighteen? Like in two months when I'm eighteen? I think I can wait that long." My Dad had been telling me I couldn't date till I was eighteen for years and now I was almost eighteen. He frowned again." I change my mind. Until you're twenty. No, twenty-four!" he frowned. I laughed. "It's too late to change it, Dad. Besides I don't think you'll have much of a say in me dating after I'm eighteen." He frowned. "Don't worry, it's not like anyone wants to date me anyway, so you're fine." Before he could protest I walked into the hall to get my sandals. "I'm gonna go now, Dad, "I said putting on my school bag. "Okay, but where a coat, I don't know how you wear sundresses all year round." he shook his head and I giggled. "I can't help it, I love them!"I said twirling around and then almost tumbled over from the weight of my bag. I laughed and looked up at my Dad. My Dad gave me the look he always seems to give me, that 'are you demented?' look. Poor him, having to deal with me. I ran up to him and kissed his cheek and then walked out of the house. I loved to walk to school. It was when I got to think, I never ever accepted rides from my Dad even when it was raining or snowing. I just loved the outdoors. I skipped down the road, my bag bobbing up and down. I wondered how crazy I looked right now and laughed. A grown girl skipping around in a flowery dress and sandals. I reached the school and grinned at everyone as I walked in. Some people smiled back and some people ignored me but that didn't stop me from smiling even wider. "Sorry! That's my locker, can you just move a bit?"I asked a couple, who had always thought my locker was the most comfortable place for a make-out session. They ignored me at first but after I kept on tapping the guy's shoulder with my eyes closed- I wanted my eyes to stay virgin, thank you very much- they moved. I sighed happily and opened up my locker and got my books. After homeroom, I headed to Calc. The only person that was in the room when I came in was that guy that had taken my seat at the bleachers. Before last week, I hadn’t seen him in school at all, like never, but now I saw him in almost all my classes. I think his name was Jeremy or something. It was just weird how I had never noticed him. I took a seat at the back of the class in a corner while he sat at the other side of the room. I tried to stay as far away from him as possible since every time I glanced at him he was glaring at me. I brought out my books and sighed. I turned to look at him out of boredom to see him glaring at me once again. I stared at his green eyes with my blue ones. His eyes stood out well from his chocolate skin. I offered him a small smile like I did to everyone and he rolled his eyes before looking back down at his book. I had also noticed that just like me, he had no friends. I could see why though, he was rude and unapproachable. Yet I had no friends and I was the complete opposite. Before things could get more awkward the class started to fill with people. Simran walked into the class and once her eyes landed on the anti-social dude she sat behind him. That was something I also noticed. She always sat behind or in front of him. I think she was trying to get his attention but he paid her no mind. I wasn't surprised she liked him. He was hot. Like really hot, model worthy, no, no, Greek god worthy. His chiselled jaw, his cheekbones were to die for, his lips were plump and pink and his hair! His dark brown silky hair was soft curls on top of his head... He turned to me and raised his eyebrow and my eyes widened as I realized I had just been full on staring at him for half the class, I offered another one of my smiles before looking away, my cheeks red. When class was over I bolted out and headed to my next one. *** At lunchtime, I got something to eat and greeted Mrs. Peters before leaving. I was excited because the boys were having practice today and even though I knew other girls would be coming to watch, where I sat was further up than where they were so I could eat in peace. I sighed in frustration as I saw that guy was sitting in my seat again, after last week he hadn't come back and now there he was sitting purposely in my seat reading his stupid book. "Why?"I whined as I walked up to him. He looked up at me a and smirked. "Why what?" "Why are you sitting in my gosh darn seat again!"I huffed. "Gosh darn? Do you mean god damn?" he asked. This dude made me angry and I didn't like it one bit. "Please move?"I begged. He sighed and then rolled his eyes before moving to the seat beside him. I grinned. "Yay!" I said sitting down. "Thank you." He nodded and went back to his book. I happily watched the football players mess around on the field as I ate my Jell-O. "My name's Aurora by the way, "I told him. "Jeremiah." He said back without looking up. I nodded and looked back down at my food. A shadow cast over us and I and Jeremiah looked up. Simran smiled brightly at Jeremiah and then scowled at me. "Why are you sitting here?" she asked me glaring. I looked around then looked back at her. "Because I can. I always sit here."I answered. "You always sit beside Jeremiah Summers?" she asked. I now realized she wasn't asking why I was seated in this seat, she was asking why I was sitting beside the great Jeremiah Summers. "No, but I didn't ask him to sit here so why don't you ask him yourself instead of acting like he isn't right beside us."I huffed and took a sip of my juice. "Go away." Both I and Simran's heads snapped to Jeremiah. He hadn't looked up from his book so it was hard to tell who he was talking to. "You heard him."Simran crossed her arms smugly. Tired of talking to her, I was about to stand up when a hand shot out and pushed my shoulder down planting me back in my seat. "You, go away," he said again staring intently at Simran, making it clear who he was talking to. She opened her mouth and closed it back like a fish for a few seconds before glaring at me fiercely, turning on her heel and stomping off. I couldn't help but giggle a little. Jeremiah looked up and raised his brow at me, I immediately stopped and he went back to his book. For some reason I really didn't want to get on his bad side, he had this dangerous aura about him. Having that said, I didn't quite mind him, even though he was rude, when he didn't speak and he was just reading his book, he was actually great company. "Do you like Jell-O?"I asked him. He closed his book with a sigh. "Why do you ask?" "Cos it's amazing! Why did you close your book?" "I closed my book because I've hardly read two pages with all of your drama and I don't think I'm gonna get any more than that if your gonna be asking me stupid questions." "Hey! First of all, it’s not my fault Simran came up to us and second, My question isn’t stupid! I'm just trying to get to know you."I explained. "You're trying to get to know me and the first thing you ask about is Jell-O?"He asked. "Yep."I smiled. He rolled his eyes again. "You roll your eyes a lot." I pointed out. He shrugged."Only when you're around." I huffed. "I'm not that bad!" "Trust me you are. Like that whole singing about being happy? That's just plain weird." "It's not actually. Some people chant to themselves to make them feel better or motivated, "I explained." I sing." "No, You're weird." I grinned. "Thank you!" He facepalmed then leaned his head back. "Someone kill me." I laughed. "Don't be silly. I'm really not that bad!" "You’re like a unicorn barfing rainbows, candy floss and flowers," he muttered. I beamed at him."I love unicorns, rainbows, flowers, and candy floss!"I said clapping. "I'm leaving now," he said quickly standing up. "Okay, bye Jerry!" He turned around slowly and glared at me. "Don't call me that." I pouted. "What about Jeremy?" "No!" he called walking away. "Jer?"I called back. When he didn't say anything, I grinned. "Jer, it is!"
