❁❁ Dr. Juhi Mohan's POV: ❁❁ "Oh good, you've found the supply hall." I turned around sharply. It was Arin. I think that's how he had introduced himself. I hadn't heard him come, he was so quiet. "My apologies, I did not intend to startle you, Doctor." His tone was formal, and his voice was grounded and reliable. "Please, just Juhi is fine." I was embarrassed to have been caught snooping, but not enough to back down or apologize. The answers were my right. He did not hurry me back or make any assumptions. He waited patiently for me to gather my thoughts and speak my mind. "What do you mean by supply hall?" I chose to ask. "How about you having something to eat, and then one of us can take you for a house tour?" He offered, "You haven't eaten anything for twenty-four hours, since your arrival here." "How did I get here?" I asked, feeling anxious. I did not want a house tour, I needed to go out. "I thought the Water Alpha, I mean Hīrō Kata, answered your questions." He said. "He gave me more questions than answers. And what did you mean by Water Alpha? You called yourself Alpha too." I finally decided to ask. A genuine look of surprise washed over him when he realized I wasn't joking and was truly curious and clueless. "Which continent are you from?" He asked. I did not appreciate a question in answer to my question, but I decided to indulge the general information, "Born, raised and worked in America." His forehead creased as he frowned. I did not want to jump to conclusions, but first Kata's inability to recognize Japan and now Arin's reaction to America were making me anxious. He shook himself and focused on me, "Let's eat, and we will try to answer all your questions if you promise to clear up some of our confusion as well. Deal?" He held out his hand and I knew I could not run or overpower him, he was a foot taller than I and even wider, a wall of muscle. So I shook his hand. My plump little hand got enveloped in his bigger, stronger one. I felt his calloused fingers holding mine delicately, making me want him to not let go. He didn't. Despite myself, I loved the secure feeling I got while holding his hand and moved instinctively closer to him, making him smile a little. He swiftly closed the door to the supply hall and led me back to the lobby I had come from. Still holding my hand in his, he slowed his pace to match mine. He was walking beside me as we neared the kitchen area when we heard a loud bang and I tripped on my feet in bewilderment. Immediately, I closed my eyes and got ready for a hard, painful impact with the ground that did not come. Instead, I found myself engulfed in a surprisingly warm embrace from a firm source. I hesitantly opened my eyes to see the heterochromatic eyes staring into my boring brown ones. His embrace was protective and made me feel safe, like I had known this safety in my subconscious and was familiar with its warmth. A soft gasp escaped my lips as another bang sounded and we both returned to reality. ⛰️⛰️ Alpha Arin Akoni's POV: ⛰️⛰️ The decision to catch the doctor was an impulsive one. The bang was disappointing but not surprising for me. I knew these men couldn't be left alone together. Even though the house didn't allow us to use our abilities, there was enough ammunition to blow up the place, now that all four of us had decided to stay under one roof after Juhi's appearance there. What surprised me was the perfect way in which the cute doctor settled in my arms. She filled my embrace and for a second my intrusive thoughts wanted me to not let her go. Maybe even steal a kiss. But that would have been creepy, and I wanted her to feel comfortable with me. She looked scared when the second bang had sounded, and it annoyed me that those idiots were scaring her. Reluctantly, I let go of her soft feminine form as I steadied her first and then moved towards the kitchen with a purpose. I could sense her following me softly. She didn't know what to expect. But I heard the argument going on before we entered. Air Alpha was standing across the kitchen island facing Water Alpha and Fire Alpha was nowhere to be found. The whole place was a mess and was about to be turned into a disaster when the two of them noticed the two of us enter. Whatever it was, one look at the doctor and the two instantly calmed down and fixed the place to make it useable again. I had felt her magic when she came earlier as well. Clearly, the rest of them must've felt her magic too. She was so different, unlike any she-wolf we had encountered in our long lives. She had this innocence around her that instantly made one want to protect her and care for her. I didn't realize the effect was the same on them as well. We were all standing around the kitchen table, the atmosphere starting to get a little awkward without anyone knowing how to begin a conversation under the circumstances. Before the doctor had shown up, we weren't even talking to each other, let alone being under the same roof. But she didn't need to know that. Fire Alpha finally made his presence known, as his weird eyes scanned all of us. I rolled my eyes at his antics. Out of all of them, he was the one who annoyed me the most. With his silence and pride, he thought he was so mysterious. Well, look where mystery brought him. Right along with us, in the same prison. I moved to serve the table. Maybe we could all sit together and eat like normal people for once. Fire Alpha moved toward the doctor and the other two tried to move toward her instinctively, but one look from him made them stop in their tracks. His authority, like he owned us, annoyed me more. We were Alphas of our continents, just like him. None of us was better than the rest. Just because he had been gifted with fire, the toughest of elements, didn't mean ours were not powerful. I don't know what anyone else was expecting, but what he did surprised me more than it surprised the doctor, who was shocked when the Fire Alpha moved closer to her and respectfully pulled a chair from the dining table for her to sit. Her lips parted in a slight surprise as she tried to cover the widening of her eyes at the shock. He stood there waiting for her to sit, so she hesitantly slipped on the chair which he set for her before walking towards the other end of the table and sitting at the head. Of course, he would claim that seat as soon as possible, refusing to admit that we are all equal in front of the Moon Goddess. I rolled my eyes but decided to tolerate his antics for the sake of the cute, confused, and injured doctor. Wait, her attractiveness is not a matter of any significance in this context. I might've gotten distracted by the doctor again if Air Alpha's short temper hadn't been trying to create a scene. One would think he was the Fire Alpha and was waiting for a chance to challenge any of us. He made the curtains on the kitchen window flap wildly while staring at the Fire Alpha. Devgan knew his actions were urging for a reaction, and it had to be Rex who took the bait. Flapping curtains was the only thing that he could use his abilities for indoors. The house didn't allow any more use. The Water Alpha stood in his line of view and said one word, "Isha."* She seemed to have understood the word, but it also helped Air Alpha realize he had a pretty audience. I expected him to walk away to calm himself down. Instead, he shifted focus, pulled the seat in the middle on the left side, and sat down smirking at the doctor who looked like she might explode from her confusion. It was an adorable expression that I should not have been focusing on, but couldn't help myself. I placed the plates in front of her and sat down beside her, leaving the seat on the Fire Alpha's right side free for the Water Alpha, much to his displeasure. "The doctor is here on the condition that we answer her questions truthfully and make them as simple for her as we can. And she has promised to return the favor." I spoke to everyone while keeping an eye on the doctor, who nodded in agreement. "Where shall we begin?" The Fire Alpha began surprising us all again. What had happened to him? Why was he suddenly so hospitable and talkative? Must be the Doctor's effect, I concluded.
