Part Three: CHAPTER ONE

1090 Words
Clarice's POV I stood up from the bed and held onto Jeffery's arm with tears in my eyes. “Don't you think it's a filial thing to do on our anniversary?” He scoffed and yanked off his arm from my grip looking at me coldly. “It's just a f*****g anniversary, Clarice. I'm tired of shoving my d**k inside that wretched p***y of yours!” Did he just say wretched? My husband? I reached out to hold him again, but he pulled away from me. “You've never touched me for two years now, Jeff! I crave your touch every passing day, but you're always with that blonde girl.” “You're just a jealous bitch.” “Why would I not be jealous when all you've been doing these past two years is pumping your d**k inside that blonde p***y?” Jeffery slapped me hard across the face and I collapsed on the floor the weight of the slap stung on my face. I sucked the blood that smeared my lips and swallowed it. “You cannot call yourself my wife if you don't try to understand my intention. Amelia needs me, but all you care about is getting f****d. Whatever happened to women supporting women?” My palms still covered my face, but I stood up shakily to face him with a cracking voice, I could literally hear the sound of my heart shattering into tiny bits. “What about me?” “It's just an anniversary, we'll do it later. You can't have me all for yourself, find something useful to do with your life instead of waiting all day at home for me to come f**k your old and dry pussy.” My jaw dropped and a wave of embarrassment hit my face. Did he just say old and dry? My p***y? The one he was often gawking at four years ago? Dry!? I let out a dry laughter. I miss my parents. His phone rang. He pulled it out of his pocket and placed it on his ear, the voice from the background was clear as day; it was none other than Amelia. Immediately he heard her voice, his face softened. “Jeff, I need you. I can't peel this apple on my own and the weather is cold.” He apologized. “I'm sorry for keeping you waiting.” Jeffery didn't hesitate, he didn't even look at me twice. He pulled his jacket from the stand in our bedroom, grabbed a few packets of condoms from the drawer and rushed out of the house. I stood there speechless, the sound of his car zooming off reminded me that Jeffrey has lost every iota of love and respect he once had for me. My mum always told me that sometimes in life, things don't always go your way no matter how much you try to make it work. After six years of giving my life and everything to Jeffrey, he has chosen to abandon me for a blonde girl who became his assistant two years ago. When she started working as his assistant, I got worried and asked Jeffrey to fire her, but he called my suspicion off by saying that I was just jealous. Then gradually, he began to stay out late. He started ignoring my phone calls, giving flimsy excuses about his whereabouts until he no longer hid his affair with her again. I wiped my tears, grabbed my sweater and ran out of the house. I will fight for him even if it turns me into a shameless woman. I cannot give up the life I have built with him for the past six years. He's my first love and the only man I promised to love all my life. I won't let Amelia ruin everything for me! The employees were whispering when they saw me, but I ignored them and pushed open the office door. There they were! Amelia was on his lap kissing him wildly while he fondled her breasts. I slammed the door behind me, and approached them. Without thinking twice, I yanked her off Jeffery’s laps, hitting her hard across the face. Jeffery stood up, his eyes deadly and his face cold and smashed my face hard in retaliation. I was stunned beyond words. He didn't even hesitate to slap me because of a woman. He advanced towards me and pushed me angrily. I fell backwards hitting my head hard on the table. The world around me became blurry, I could not stand up even when I tried to, their voices were muffled. I tried to pick up what they were saying. Amelia screams. Jeffery rushed to pick me up, but dropped me back in panic with his hands shaking while he kept muttering. “Blood. There's blood.” His face that was once cold and frowning at me, softened a bit. He was calling my name, begging me to wake up. I wanted to wake up. I wish I could, not for everyone else, but for myself. But my body was not moving. I lay limp on the floor in a pool of my own blood. Amelia came closer to look at me with a sneer on her face. “I think she's dead. Let's hide her away.” “What will the people that saw her walk in say?” “We'll sort that out later.” Slowly, my eyes began to drape. I was beginning to feel drowsy. Tears rolled down my cheeks as the thought of my death gripped me in fear. They didn't even care to save me, they were thinking of covering my death. I started praying, hoping, begging for my life. My world was gradually becoming white while my thoughts lingered. The realization of dying a vain death because of a man who doesn't even care about me struck me hard. “I wish I would be given a second chance.” “Is this how I'm going to die?” “This is too unfair. I'm just 24 years, and I've not lived my life to the fullest.” “To whoever is listening, please, grant me a second chance to live, to take my revenge. I'm an orphan and dying like this is a waste of my parents' sacrifice.” “I really want to live…” I released a last breath, the world slowly becoming silent, and so am I. “She's dead.” Jeffery’s words escorted me as my eyes slammed shut for the last time.
