Chapter 39

1827 Words

Freya Arvid and I run to Principal Goldstein’s office, eager to talk with her about what just happened. Sadly, we didn’t make it in time. Julia walks out of Goldstein’s office with a proud look on her beautiful face. “Thank you for telling me everything you saw,” Principal Goldstein tells Julia. Her hand is on her shoulder, and she smiles until she notices me and Arvid. Her smile fades slightly, replaced by neutrality. “Mr. Moonheart, Miss Alderwood.” She greets us, her voice like the closing of a heavy tome. “What a pleasant surprise that you’re here right after Julia came here to raise some serious concerns about you.” “We know,” I respond hastily, “and we need to talk about these concerns.” She looks at Julia for a moment longer before stepping away. “You may go, Julia,” she says.
