Chapter 1: Origin of Bunnicula
In the quite town of AshenFall, lived Gideon Holloway, a 13 years-old-boy, who like any other child at his age was always energetic and intrigued. A kind heart, loved by many as he made sure the consequences of his auspicious activities weren't faced by any. Ever since he was a child, he had harboured a deep desire to visit Transylvania, where his ancestors resided once, however, despite his many pleas, his parents had always dismissed this subject with excuses. The eerie stories surrounding Transylvania frightened them, perhaps, whereas it was precisely these uncanny tales that tempted him. At this point of his life, he desired nothing but to set foot in the streets of Transylvania, to explore its dark forest where many preternatural creatures were rumoured to reside. And above all, a longing to meet a Dracula. Since childhood, the tales about Dracula always captivated him. Sine Dracula is immortal so could those crimson eyes had seen the very first pyramids? Had they ever encountered a mummy? If no, would they ever fancy meeting one? Why did they only drink blood, and without a shadow how did they shave? There were so many questions he needed to ask. He yearned for the fortunate day, he could find answers. Gideon would go about roaming the streets, or exploring the forest near their town, always with his best friend, Elena, both sharing the fondness for mystery and flair. 'Rena told me that there are rumors about a haunted hut. People found dead animals nearby', said Elena to Gideon one afternoon, as they fed bunnies in the wild forest. 'Really? But why do they think the hut is haunted?', asked Gideon as one bunny jumped in his lap. 'Dracula', he whispered softly as he hugged the bunny. 'Nobody has lived there for four years. But suddenly, there are noises around the hut- eerie ones, like someone crying at night. It's been happening for three days now.' Gideon's eyes light up, 'Wow! Should we go check out the hut?' 'I don't know, it sounds too scary,' Elena said apprehensively. 'Maybe we shouldn't go.' 'When did you start becoming feared?', Gideon teased with laugh. 'You are always the one dragging me to different places.' 'Yeah, but are you sure we should go?', Elena said, stroking a bunny, her tone more serious now. 'Of course,' Gideon nodded excitedly with a wide smile. 'Why not?' Elena grinned, standing up, 'I was just testing you! Let's go for sure!', she exclaimed as the sun dipped below the horizon. They sneaked out in the night. The moon shown translucent in the sky like a blue jewel adorned by silver pearls. As they made their way to the outskirts of the town, where the hut was located, a thick forest loomed before them. A forest was in their way, as they followed the trail, getting into the thick of it. The deeper they went, the denser the darkness became. Tall tress surrounded, their branches reaching out like claws. The moon was no longer visible. A shiver ran down their spines. The winds howled, the trees rustled, shrubs and bushes muffling their whispers as their footsteps echoed in the cold air. 'This forest is too scary', whispered Elena, her voice trembling. 'And it's so cold!', she wrapped her arms around herself. 'Should we just go back?', she turned to Gideon, her eyes wide with fear. 'We are this far, we would out soon', though Gideon said that, his own eyes darted nervously around the forest. The darkness seemed to press in on them as if the trees themselves were mocking their foolishness for venturing this deep. 'We have been in forests before; we will get out of here too.' 'But this one is too scary! it's too dark!', Elena cried, stopping in her tracks. 'I don't like this either!', Gideon admitted, his voice shaking. But before either of them could say more, he suddenly let out a scream and fell down. 'What happened?', Elena gasped, running to his side. 'Something! there's something in my pocket!', he yelled, frantically removing his jacket and throwing it away. Elena backed away, standing beside him, her heat pounding. 'Get up!', she urged, pulling his arm, 'let's run!' But as they were just about to flee, a faint sound echoed through the forest- a low, mournful cry, coming from the direction of the hut. They froze, their breath caught in their throats, as the sound grew louder, closer, sending chills down their spines. Gideon's jacket was pulled up on side as if covering something and after a second something small and furry emerged from beneath it. Elena screamed. 'Dracula!', cried Gideon, relieved as he recognised his favourite bunny. 'You scared the hell out of me!' They both heaved a sigh of relief; Gideon got up, rushed to pick up his bunny. 'Do you know how much you scared me? How did you even get into my pocket?' Elena approached, her fear melting into a smile looking at bunny's innocent eyes, who was completely oblivious to its crime. 'Aww, He is too cute to say anything.' Gideon chuckled and cradling Dracula in his arms, 'You are a bad bunny.' It gave an excited jerk, and snuggled into him, as if apologising. 'Let's go back now', Elena whispered, her voice still trembling. 'I am done for today. Let's come back in the morning.' 'Yeah, Morning will be better', Gideon said, stroking Dracula's fur. They began to make their way back when another sudden rustling sound startled them. A long howling scream, pierced the silence., followed by rapid sound of light footsteps among the bushes. Someone – or something was chasing someone else. The noises were closer, almost upon them. 'Let's go from here. Gideon!', Elena shouted, panic creeping into her voice. As they made to run, a shadow leapt from the bushes behind them. Both gasped, as they saw a large, menacing figure. Though difficult to see in the dark, they could make out that it was a wolf. 'Run!', Gideon shouted, quickly stuffing Dracula back in his pocket. They were sprinting as fast as they could but the wolf was right behind them, its snarls growing louder each passing second. Mingled footsteps were shaking the forest. But there was something else, another set of footsteps- more frantic and erratic. 'There is something else!', Elena shouted, desperation overtaking her. The wind was filled with chilling howls as they raced through the forest, as they neared the edge of the woods, another dark shadow hurtled towards them. They both jumped back, screaming as the scene before them became horrifying clear. Under the silver moonlight above, two wolves faced each other. On their left was a white wolf, its blue eyes gleaming eerily. Blood dripping from its mouth, tainting its once-impeccable tuff, its sharp teeth were barred at the other wolf on their right- a dark creature bearing an obsidian coat. Its blood red eyes glowing with malevolent intent. Both wolves were tainted with fresh red blood. However, the white wolf was shivering, its body marred with many open wounds. Both wolves lunged at each other, their eyes blazing with bloodlust. They clashed violently, sinking teeth into each other, rolling and trashing in the dirt. The air was filled with sound of growls and sickening crunch of bones. Elena tugged at Gideon's arm; 'We have to get out of here!', she pleaded. They ran for their lives. The horrifying howls of wolves' battle fading behind them. After what felt like an eternity, they finally emerged out of the forest breathless and shaken. 'How would we going to get back?', cried Elena as she choked with tears. 'Gideon!', she yelled, as she noticed he was strangely quiet, lost in thought. 'Why are you not answering me?', she sobbed, shaking him. As Gideon faced, she gasped her, she gasped in horror. 'Your-Your' 'What?', Gideon asked scared himself, 'Is something on my face?', he uttered moving his hands on his face. 'Your-your eyes are red! All red!' Gideon stood shocked, frozen in fear, 'What? No, that can't be!', he quickly ran to pool of water, desperate to see his reflection. But when he looked down, his eyes were the same emerald green as always. 'They are green, perfectly green!', he shouted more forcefully than he intended. Elena cautiously approached peering over his shoulder, 'Yeah, they are green', she said, her voice wavering with uncertainty. 'Maybe the moonlight made them seem like that or something. Gideon, I am scared. Let's go from here.' 'We can't go back!', Gideon said, still feeling the strange tension in the air. 'Not back! Just away from this forest!', Elen replied, her voice shaky. The air around them seemed to thicken with a strange, otherworldly silence. The forest once alive, with whispers and howls moments ago now felt unnervingly still. Gideon's heartbeat echoed in his ears, and though Elena's concern was palpable, he couldn't shake the feeling that something had shifted within him during their frantic escape. Something that made the dark wolves- and the mysterious wolves- seem like more than a nightmare. Gideon's hands instinctively went to his pocket, where the bunny Dracula had nestled during their run. He pulled the small creature out, cradling it in his arms. The bunny's soft fur and gentle warmth seemed to calm him, after the terrifying chase; he hugged him tightly, tears rolled down his cheeks, 'I wan to go home.' 'Me too', Elena cried, her voice trembling. Before them stretched a vast landscape; its vast expanse stretching far beyond their sight. 'Should we go down?', she asked. Gideon nodded and with tentative steps, they began to descend the trail. Dracula clutched safely in his arms. After walking for while, they stopped startled by a noise. A shiver ran down their spine as they heard rustling of footsteps- a person's footsteps. They both screamed, clung onto each other as a figure emerged from the bushes. Overwhelmed by fear, they could hardly contain their panic. But as the light illuminated the figure, they felt a wave of relief- it was just a girl. Both let go of each other and looked at the girl. She was pale with brown eyes and appeared be around their age. 'Who are you?', asked Gideon. 'What are you doing here?' 'I should ask you the same', she said, eyeing them apprehensively. 'What do you want?' 'We are just trying to go home. We don't want anything!', said Gideon. The girl regarded them with dubious expression before turning and heading towards the forest. 'Wait!', Elena yelled. 'Don't go in there! There are wolves in there!' But the girl didn't stop. They exchanged worried glances begore Gideon shouted, 'Stop!', But when she ignored him, they ran to grab her from behind. 'What are you doing? Let go of me!', she yelled. 'You'll die if you go inside', Elena urged, tightening her grip. 'No, I won't!', she cried wrestling harder. 'Let me go! There are no wolves inside! My friend is inside. I need to find him!' 'Your friend?', Gideon loosened his grip. 'Why is your friend there?' 'We were playing and got lost. I came out but he hasn't come out yet.' 'Okay, we'll go with you', Gideon said and looked at Elena. Elena hesitated but eventually nodded. 'Why?', asked the girl suspiciously. 'No need. Stop bothering me', jerking her arms away from them. Gideon eyes widened, his face reddening. 'We were just trying to help!' 'I don't need your help! I am fine on my own', she yelled, her face catching color as well. 'Don't follow me now!' With one last unfriendly glance, she hurried to the forest. Gideon and Elena watched as her figure finally disappeared into the forest. They both exchanged glances before nodding in agreement, Stealthily, they followed the girl's trail hiding behind the bushes as she ventured deeper into the woods. The further they went, the more their hearts pounded and a sickening sensation settled in the pit of their stomach. The girl suddenly stopped. From their hiding spot behind a bush they heard her yell, 'Why the hell are you following me?' Elena and Gideon froze, shocked. They both looked at each other, 'How does she know?', Elena whispered. 'I don't know', Gideon replied. 'But we are hiding so well', Elena put in, 'How could she see us?' 'That's what I am wondering.' Gideon agreed. As they contemplated behind the bushes about their apparent lack of stealth, a shadow loomed over them. They looked up in fear to see the girl standing a, her face red and unfriendly. 'Why did you follow me?', she asked, her tone authoritative. Gideon stood up, crossed his arms and spoke matter-of-factly, 'We are not following you! We are also going this way' 'Oh, by hiding behind bushes,' she retorted. Gideon turned red. 'T-to avoid the wolves,' he stammered. The girl laughed causing Gideon's face to flush even more. Elena stood up. 'There are wolves here. You'll get hurt. We just wanted to help.' 'I told you I don't need any help' 'Our home is this way as well. We need to get through the forest to go home', Elena said gently. 'We won't bother you; we can find your friend and we can all go home.' The girl looked around the forest apprehensively, clearly scared. 'Okay, but', she lowered her voice. 'My friend is special and because he is sick, he is a little violent right now. So, you have to be careful.' Gideon and Elena exchanged worried looks then nodded. The three of them began walking further inside the forest. 'So, what is your name?', asked Gideon. 'Serena', she said. 'And yours?' 'I am Gideon and she is Elena. What is your friend's name?' 'He is Ralph', she said, glancing looking around the forest nervously. Her gaze then fixed on Gideon's pocket. 'Is there something in there?', she asked, pointing with a little finger. Gideon instinctively grabbed his pocket, shocked. 'How did you know?' Her face flushed red and she avoided his eyes momentarily, before glaring at the pocket again, 'What do you have there?' Gideon pulled out Dracula, holding the bunny up, 'This is my pet, Dracula'. 'Dracula?', she looked bewildered. 'This is a bunny. Why have you named him Dracula?' Elena chuckled. Gideon went red. 'Because its eyes look red in the light like Dracula's.' 'But so do all bunnies', Serena said. 'And how do you know Dracula's eyes are red? Have you ever seen one?' He was crimson now. Hugging the bunny, he said in a low voice, 'No, not yet.' Serena laughed. 'You haven't seen one and you talk like you know Dracula.' 'What about you?', Gideon challenged. 'Have you seen one?' Serena's face flushed. 'Huh. You haven't seen one either', he said, regaining his confident. 'So, how can you know anything for sure.' Serena glared at him, 'Dracula's eyes are not red.' 'They are!' 'How would you know?' 'Then how would you?' 'Calm down, both of you!', Elena cried. The bunny, meanwhile, began to squirm in Gideon's arms, trying to break free. 'What's the matter, Dracula?', Gideon asked. Serena's face dropped. Her eyes widening in horror. She muttered something unintelligible. Gideon and Elena turned back as she pointed a trembling finger behind them. There it was: A white wolf, now, stained with so much blood that it was almost red. It advanced towards them with heavy steps, its blue eyes glaring menacingly, blood dripping from its mouth as it barred its teeth. 'We were done for', Gideon thought. 'Sorry dad, I should have listened to you when you told me not to sneak out.' 'I don't want to die this young.' Elena prayed. 'But if this is the end, so don't let mom find out those tests, please.' She added, 'I wish I haven't saved that ice-cream for tomorrow.' The air hung heavy as the wolf approached. Their feet went cold and their hairs stood on their end. 'Gideon', Elena grabbed his hand, tears streaming down her face. Gideon was paralyzed with fear. Serena clung to both of them. 'We told you there were wolves', he cried in a shrill voice. 'Now can you do something?' 'What can I even do?', cried Serena. The fell silent; Their breath caught in their throats, shivers running down their spines as wolf's rattling breath echoed around them. The bloodlust in its eyes was terrifying. They all screamed for their life as the wolf lunged at them with clear intent to kill. From other side, another figure leaped at the wolf. It was a grey wolf; two wolves began wrestling, ripping at each other's flesh in a frenzied. As the white wolf, hurled the grey wolf towards them, they all dove to the side and fell to the ground. Dracula rolled a short distance away. The white wolf dashed towards the bunny, grabbing it in its mouth. 'No! No!', Gideon yelled, pleading. 'My Dracula!', he quickly got up and chased the wolf as it sprinted into the bushes, venturing deeper into the woods. 'Gideon!', Elena screamed as Gideon chased after the wolf. The grey wolf chased after them. 'Let's go!', Elena shouted, grabbing Serena's hand. They both ran after them. The wounded wolf's pace was slower, making it possible for Gideon to catch up. Gideon ran, crying, his heart pounding, his sole focus on Dracula's safety. He would offer himself if it meant saving his Dracula. The other wolf followed. Its red eyes gleaming in dark and hurled at it. The grey wolf hurled the white wolf aside, Dracula with it. Gideon saw Dracula lying near a bush. His breath caught in his throat as he sprinted towards the bunny. The wolf stood up, glaring at Gideon. Gideon lunged for Dracula, his hands trembling. The wolf grunted. Its menacing presence making his skin crawl. He was shivering with fear, dragging its feet to where Dracula was. Just as he was about to grab Dracula, The wolf was thrown aside by a huge rock. Tears in his eyes, Gideon hugged Dracula tightly, he looked to the side, and saw Serena. Following her was Elena, holding a burning piece of wood. 'Are you alright?', Elena asked crouching beside him. Gideon nodded. 'But-', Tears brimmed his eyes. He looked at Dracula, who was bleeding. 'We can still save him, let's run!' Elena's expression became sombre but she didn't say a word, but nodded. Serena gasped when she saw the wounded bunny, her eyes filling with tears. There was a low grunting sound. The wolf had risen up. Elena stood before Gideon, holding the burning wood defensively. The wolf retreated some steps back. 'Run!', she shouted. 'I am not leaving you!', Gideon shouted, standing up. 'Nobody is leaving anyone!', Serena shouted, hefting a large rock from the side and standing beside Elena. Before he could express his shock, the grey wolf returned. A sense of dread filled them when another wolf emerged from the bushes. 'No... No', Serena uttered. Elena eyes were filled with tears. Gideon look defeated look. He glanced at Dracula, his heart pounding. They needed to save him. The two wolves hurled at the white wolf. 'No!', Serena yelled, throwing a stone at one of them. 'What are you doing?', Elena yelled back. 'That's my friend!', Serena cried. 'The white wolf? Are you crazy?', Elena demanded. 'He is!', cried Serena. 'He wasn't like this. He ate something strange. That witch tricked him!' 'What the hell?', Elena shouted. The white wolf fell, exhausted. However, Serena had angered the other wolves. Their target had shifted. The white wolf could be her friend but they certainly weren't. They were now in direct danger. With a heart dreading glare the wolves advanced, they all screamed, covering themselves. There was no place to run. A sudden eruption of smoke obscured their view. They slowly opened their eyes; the mysterious fog cleared. A tall figure in a black cloak stood before them, holding his right out. The wolves were thrown aside, knocked out. 'Dad!', Serena shouted. Running to the man. Elena and Gideon stood stunned. 'Serena', the man said, glancing at the white wolf and sighing, 'How many times have I told you? What were you two doing?' Serena went red. 'Sorry, Dad. But it was that witch!' 'We will talk at home. You are in big trouble this time! Ralph's parents had been worried sick', he said, crossing his arms. Serena looked down and apologised. 'Dracula!', yelled Gideon as Dracula made a low sound. 'No, no, no, no, hold it my friend. I'll save you', he said with tears in his eyes. He went to her Dad in front of him. He could already see these people weren't normal. If only their peculiarities could save Dracula. 'Sir, can you please do something? Anything please.' He moved his arms to the front. Dracula was barely breathing. 'Oh no', her dad's expression turned grave as he saw the wounded bunny. 'I-I am not sure if I can do anything', he said defeated. 'I am sorry!', Serena cried. 'This is all my fault!' 'Please, I don't want to lose him!', Gideon begged. Dracula's breath was getting irregular. 'No, no, no, don't go', he began to sob. 'Please, don't, don't, don't', 'It is still alive', Serena said, 'I can smell him. But it is losing life' 'Then do something about it!' She looked apprehensively. 'There is one thing I can do' 'Anything please!', Gideon sobbed. Serena held the bunny in his arms. she looked at her father who looked confuddled. As the realization dawned on him, he cried, all red in his face, 'No! You can't do that! That is against the-' 'You can yell at me about this as well when we get home!', she yelled before sinking her fangs into the bunny. The bunny screamed in pain. His father slapped his head, 'Oh, snakes.' 'No!', Elena cried. 'What the hell are you doing?', Gideon yelled, his anger reaching its peak, grabbing back Dracula from him who had stopped moving at all. 'Why did you do that? Why? Why?', he began to sob, holding its still body. 'I hate you! I wish I had never tried to help you!' Serena's eyes were filled with tears, 'No... I was just I thought-' Elena gave a Serena a disgusted look. 'What were you doing?', she cried, tears filling her as she stared at Dracula. 'What did you think? Just go away from here alrea-' But the bunny moved. Gideon looked down. It moved in his arms. It was slowly getting up. 'It is alive! It is getting up!', he held him up in the air. Dracula was alive again. 'It has come back to life', he hugged him tightly and kissed the bunny many times before holding him in his arms again. 'I love you so much I am so sorry!' Gideon's heart raced as he clutched the now-animated Dracula, who seemed to recover with every passing second. His tears of anguish shifted to tears of relief and joy as he hugged the bunny tightly, feeling its warmth and heartbeat once more. The bunny gave a happy jerk as it snuggled into him before looking at him with innocent eyes. Gideon gasped. 'It has red eyes!', he looked at Serena whose father though clearly conflicted sighed deeply, resigning to the events. Serena still shaken by the drastic measures she had taken, looked at Gideon with a mix of sorrow and hope. 'It is a vampire now', said her father. 'You have a vampire bunny now.' Despite his stern demeanor, he softened slightly at the sight of reunited friends. 'We can't change what happened', he said gently, glancing at Serena, 'Anyways, he is okay now.' Gideon and Elena exchanged looks then looked from the bunny to Serena to his father. 'You two are a vampire?', Elena asked, unable to digest what they just heard. They both nodded. Gideon face lit up; he looked at the father with newfound respect. Jumped in happiness, He went forward to shake the man's hand, holding bunny in one, 'Hi, I am Gideon. I have always wanted to meet a vampire. Can you give me your autograph?' 'S-Sure', said her father. 'Thank you very much!', Gideon cried, 'You brought my Dracula back.' 'You're welcome', her father replied. His expression became serious, 'But you should understand that what Serena did was risky. Vampires don't usually use such methods lightly. Serena, do you want to say anything?' Elena, still grappling with the revelation of the supernatural, stood still in shock. Serena whimpered, looking apprehensively at Gideon who was giving her a stern look. Though pleased about Dracula's revival, he still hasn't forgiven her for pulling such trick. 'I am sorry, very sorry', she cried, her face streaked with tears. 'I just couldn't think of anything else to save him!' 'That is my friend, Ralph. He is a werewolf. We both ran from home and were residing in a hut here.' She turned to her father, 'But now we have learnt our lesson! We would never do anything like this that could hurt others!', she covered her face, sobbing harder. 'I am sorry! Very sorry! Its okay if you don't forgive me, I promise we'll never bother you again.' Gideon cut her off gently, though his voice was still tinged with anger. 'I get that you were trying to help. Just... please think things through before.' He still gave her stern look but held out his hand, 'Thanks for saving me back there. It was not your fault directly, anyways.' Serena stood shocked before jumping happily to hug Gideon. 'Thank you so much!', but Serena's father quickly separated them. 'A handshake would be enough I think', he said. They all shook hands. A new friendship had formed. Her father, taking a deep breath, spoke up. 'We need to address Ralph's condition. He's in need of our care. Serena's father went to check on Ralph, who was still unconscious but stable. 'Now I have a vampire bunny', Gideon smiled. 'How cool is that!', he held it up, which gave a happy jerk. 'I will call him Bunnicula! How is that?'' 'Better than naming a bunny Dracula', said Elena. Serena and Elena both laughed. Gideon went red. 'Shut up!' The white wolf behind them grunted. They all turned back to see him struggling to get up before it fell again. 'Serena, we should go back now', her father said. 'His wounds need to be tended.' 'Where do you live?', asked Gideon, though, he already anticipated the answer. 'Where else?', his father smiled, 'Transylvania.' Gideon gave a huge smile. Bunnicula resting in his arms, watching them all. 'Come on, we'll drop you both home on our way. Your parents must be worried', he said as with a dramatic flair he rose into the sky and, with a puff of smoke, turned into a big bat. Its red eyes gleaming under the moonlight. Serena also did the same. 'Are you going to carry us?', asked Elena apprehensively whereas Gideon seemed to like the idea. 'What about him?', she pointed to Ralph. 'Don't worry, Serena's brother is coming to pick him up', he said. They hovered over both of them, Serena holding out her feet for Elena to hold onto and his father for Gideon. Gideon held it happily, whereas Elena was tentative in this approach. Slowly and slowly, they rose in the air, up above the lush green forest, among the clouds. They were among the stars and the moon, one with the sky. Feeling the great wind carry them in its embrace, kissing them on their cheeks. Gideon couldn't contain his excitement as he cradled Bunnicula, marveling at the tiny vampire bunny now nestled in his arms. His smile stretched from ear to ear as they soared through the night sky. The moonlight bathed them in a silvery glow, making the moment feel even more surreal and magical. Elena, gripping Serena's feet with a mix of nervousness and thrill, glanced at Gideon, who seemed to be reveling in the experience. She had never imagined that a simple day could turn into such an extraordinary adventure. The wind whipped through her hair, and she couldn't help but smile as the initial fear melted away into pure exhilaration. The world below was nothing but a patchwork of dark forests and faintly glowing towns, a distant memory compared to the stars that seemed so close now. The freedom of flight, the rush of the wind, and the endless sky above them filled their hearts with a sense of wonder and possibility. As they began their descent, the familiar rooftops and streets of their town came into view. The ground approached faster than expected, and before they knew it, they were gently landing in front of Gideon's house. Serena and her father gracefully transformed back into their human forms, their eyes still glowing faintly in the moonlight. Gideon's feet touched the ground, and he felt a pang of disappointment that the flight had ended so soon. Yet, his heart was light, and his mind buzzed with the excitement of what had just happened. As they all exchanged farewells, Serena shyly approached Elena, her voice barely above a whisper. 'Can I... Can I come over to play sometime?', she asked, her eyes hopeful. Elena's face lit up with a smile. 'Of course! I'd love that.' Gideon grinned, 'I'll bring Bunnicula,' he added with a chuckle, holding up the bunny who seemed content in his arms. With that, Serena and her father turned and began to walk away, their figures fading into the night. Gideon and Elena stood there for a moment, watching them go, before turning to each other with shared smiles. He looked down at Bunnicula, who blinked up at him with his new red eyes. This was only the start of a new chapter in his life, one filled with wonder, mystery, and perhaps even a little bit of magic.
