The morning sun rose gently over the small coastal town of Bayview, painting the sky in shades of gold and soft pink. The streets were quiet except for the distant sound of waves meeting the shore and the occasional cry of seagulls flying overhead. It was the kind of morning Sofia Reyes loved most, calm, peaceful, and full of promise. She walked toward the old Bayview Community Library with a canvas bag slung over her shoulder and a ring of keys jingling softly in her hand. The library had stood in the center of town for decades. Its weathered brick walls and wooden windows showed signs of age, but to Sofia, it was the most beautiful place in the world. She unlocked the front door and stepped inside. The familiar scent of old books welcomed her like an old friend. She smiled as she switched on the lights, revealing rows of shelves filled with stories that had inspired generations. Sunlight streamed through the tall windows, casting a warm glow across the wooden floor. Every morning, she followed the same routine. She returned books to their proper shelves, dusted the reading tables, watered the small plants near the entrance, and opened the windows so the fresh ocean breeze could drift inside. It was a simple routine, but it brought her peace. After losing both of her parents five years ago, Sofia had learned to find comfort in ordinary moments. She worked as an elementary school teacher during the week and volunteered at the library whenever she had free time. Raising her younger brother, Marco, had become her greatest responsibility, and every decision she made was for his future. Some people her age dreamed of traveling the world or falling in love. Sofia dreamed of paying the bills on time, helping her students succeed, and seeing her brother graduate from college. That was enough. Or at least, that was what she kept telling herself. She placed a stack of children's books on the front desk before glancing toward the large window facing the sea. Sofia looked up. A young man stood at the entrance, dressed in a crisp white shirt with the sleeves rolled to his elbows. He carried a leather portfolio under one arm and several rolled blueprints in the other. His eyes wandered across the room with quiet admiration before finally meeting hers.
