Naomi sat at the small wooden table near the window, her laptop open and a cup of tea beside her. The morning light filled the room, but her eyes were fixed on the screen.
After receiving her first payment, she had spent most of the night thinking.
If five dollars was possible… maybe more was too.
She logged into the platform again, her heart beating a little faster than usual. New messages were waiting.
One of them caught her attention immediately.
The client’s name was unfamiliar.
Naomi clicked on it.
“Hello Naomi. I read the chapter you wrote yesterday. Your storytelling is very good. I’m looking for someone to write a longer project — about 20 chapters. Are you available?”
Naomi’s eyes widened.
Twenty chapters?
She quickly read the rest of the message.
“The total payment will be $100 for the project.”
For a moment, Naomi just stared at the number.
One hundred dollars.
Her mind immediately started calculating. That money could help with food, transport, and maybe even some of the hospital expenses.
But doubt crept in.
What if I’m not good enough? she thought.
Her fingers hovered above the keyboard.
Then she remembered something her mother once told her:
"Opportunities don’t wait for people who are afraid."
Naomi took a deep breath and began typing.
“Yes, I’m available. I would love to work on the project.”
She pressed send before she could change her mind.
Minutes passed.
Then the reply came.
“Great. I’ll send the outline. Let’s start today.”
Naomi leaned back in her chair, a smile slowly spreading across her face.
The journey that had started with one small chapter… was now turning into something much bigger.
And deep down, Naomi knew one thing.
This was only the beginning of her story.
