Naomi woke up early the next morning in a bed softer than anything she had ever slept on before.
For a moment, she forgot where she was.
Then everything came rushing back.
The contract.
The marriage.
Alexander King.
Naomi sat up slowly, looking around the large bedroom. The room was elegant, with tall windows that allowed sunlight to pour inside.
“This place is unbelievable,” she whispered to herself.
A gentle knock sounded on the door.
“Mrs. King, breakfast is ready,” the butler’s voice said from outside.
Naomi still felt strange hearing that name.
Mrs. King.
She quickly got dressed and went downstairs.
The dining room was enormous, with a long table that could easily seat ten people.
Alexander was already there, reading something on his tablet while drinking coffee.
He looked up when Naomi walked in.
“Good morning,” he said calmly.
“Good morning,” she replied, a little nervous.
She sat across from him.
For a few seconds, the room was quiet.
Then Alexander spoke.
“My family will arrive tonight.”
Naomi froze slightly.
“Tonight?”
“Yes.”
He took another sip of his coffee.
“They are curious about the woman I suddenly married.”
Naomi swallowed nervously.
“And… what are they like?”
Alexander paused for a moment.
“Difficult.”
That answer did not make Naomi feel better.
That evening, a black luxury car stopped outside the mansion gates.
Naomi stood beside Alexander near the entrance.
Her hands felt slightly cold with nervousness.
“Relax,” Alexander said quietly beside her.
“That’s easy for you to say,” Naomi muttered.
Alexander almost smiled.
The front doors opened.
Three people walked inside.
An elegant older woman with sharp eyes.
A tall man in an expensive suit.
And a beautiful young woman wearing a tight red dress.
The older woman’s gaze immediately landed on Naomi.
“So,” she said slowly.
“This is the girl you married.”
Her tone was cold.
Naomi forced a polite smile.
“Good evening, Mrs. King.”
The woman’s eyes narrowed slightly.
“I’m surprised,” she said.
“My son usually has much higher standards.”
Naomi felt the insult immediately but stayed silent.
Alexander’s voice suddenly became firm.
“Mother.”
The warning in his tone was clear.
But the beautiful woman in the red dress stepped forward next.
Her eyes looked Naomi up and down with obvious judgment.
“Alexander,” she said sweetly.
“You married someone like her… without telling me?”
Naomi frowned slightly.
“Who is she?” Naomi asked quietly.
Alexander’s expression hardened slightly.
“This is Sophia,” he said.
“My former fiancée.”
The room suddenly became very tense.
Sophia crossed her arms, staring directly at Naomi.
“You stole my place,” she said coldly.
Naomi’s heart started beating faster.
Dinner with Alexander’s family was already turning into a disaster.
And the night had only just begun.
