Chapter 24 The Fae

Ronan's POV

I inch closer to the door as my heart begins to skip a beat in nervousness of what's to come from this excursion. I reach out to knock but before my fist can even make contact with the wooden door. It swings open abruptly to show the fae I'm assuming. I see a small woman with blonde hair and blue eyes wearing a long blue dress with white flowers on it. She stares at me for a moment as if she is waiting for me to say something but I don't exactly know how to start this conversation.

"Took you long enough to get here.. what did you get lost Alpha?" She asks with a mocking tone that catches me completely off guard before she adds. "I assumed when I heard about you from the Moon Goddess that you would be fast, smart and straight to the point. But I guess that's what I get for assuming.. now get in here because you have wasted enough time not finding this place on your own, to the point that I had to show you the front door because I got tired of waiting." She mocks me more as she opens the door for us to enter.

I turn around to Sean as I get my mate off of his back by unstrapping her, then holding her tight in my protective hold. She looks so weak like this when I know how strong she really is.. so this sight just scares me as it breaks my heart. I can hear the guys shift and slip their shorts on behind me, as they wait for me to enter first out of respect then enter the hut after me.

It honestly looks too small on the outside of the hut, it's looks like a small storage unit.. and with all of us big werewolves it seems like we will fill it up pretty quickly. I don't even know if all of us can fit and you can tell the guys are thinking this too as they hold back so I can get in first since my mate is the main priority.

Once we enter the place it opens up into a two story window covered vaulted ceiling house that has so much space and room to roam in it with the help of I'm assuming magic because it didn't look like this at all on the outside.

The inside is covered in plants that just look like they are thriving in the exposed sun as if her house is just a huge green house. Even with the dropped temperatures outside it looks as if it's not even remotely effecting their growth or health. like they have their own climate in this house and maybe they do.

She leads us to the living room area and gesturing for us to sit on the open couches surrounded by plants and trinkets. I don't put down my mate, the thought never even crossed my mind no matter how sore I am.. I just hold her tight because I don't know if I will have much more time of this with everything going on at the moment.

"So you said the moon goddess told you I would be coming?" I ask curiously trying to distract myself from the almost inevitable fate of my mate but no matter how much I wish I couldn't think these sad thoughts I can't seem to take my eyes from Ember and her vulnerable state.

I try to enjoy this close proximity, so I take in her scent as the sadness takes over knowing I can't see her gorgeous eyes or her smile let alone hear her amazing laugh or songbird voice.

The faes voice grabs my attention even if it's just for a moment. "Yes she came to me in a vision and asked me to help you.. She said your a great wolf that has his priorities straight when it comes to what he wants in life but needs to have help and I told her I would try my best to help as long as the price is right... So Alpha what would you give to save you wonderful mate?" She asks sitting down in front of me staring at me intently. "Anything." I say without hesitation as she scoffs.

"That's what they all say.. but what about your title to king?" She asks me as I nod vigorously. "You can have that I don't want it I just want my mate and baby to be ok that's all I care about." I say to her as she laughs at my answer.

"Well isn't that interesting, an Alpha that genuinely doesn't want to be an Alpha.. you don't see that at all.. but hey next time just a helpful hint, try to remember to not offer something you don't have yet.. You're not King yet nor can you give away your Kingship if it isn't actually yours.. even if it's going to be eventually because it's not now and this deal is present day.. but it's nice to see you actually care about her well being like I was told you did.. I just had to test it." She says to me as I groan at her getting impatient about all this playing around as if my feelings are entertaining to her. But this isn't a game it's my mate and babies life.

"So can you help her or not? I need to save them please, she has a poison in her system that was introduced directly to her bloodstream.." I try to explain as she interrupts saying, "Yes I know she was stabbed in her already open wound I know.. like I said I have been waiting for you to get here not the other way around pup.. now.. I do have what you need to help your mate survive.. but I need you to do something for me in exchange." She says to me as I listen intently waiting for her to tell me what she needs.

"I need you to aquire something for me.. something of mine that was stolen many years ago and I need it back. I'm going to need it in my near future." She vaguely explains to me.

"So if I aquire whatever this item is for you, then you will save my Ember? But she needs help now and I don't know if I can get what you need in time to save her." I say so honestly to her as she scoffs at me standing up.

"I know that, I know why you're here, how many times do I have to tell you that? Catch up pup.. She needs time to let the medicine and magic pass through her body getting rid of the toxic poisons from her bloodstream.. so while she is recovering from this trauma to her body which will take every last bit of her energy.. she will be kept safe here with me, while you go get me my wand." She says to me.

"A wand.. and do you know where it's at or a general area?" I ask her as she nods and says, "A vampire that people call Bullseye stole it from me one hundred years ago and he has kept it at his mansion since."

My heart just sinks at that clue. "But my mate just killed him.." I say to her sadly as she retorts, "So? I never said I wanted him.. I want my wand that's at his place.. you don't need him to get to his place." She states as if it's just obvious.

"Ok.. I'll do it.. I will get you your wand if you save my mate and baby." I say to her as she smirks and nods putting out her hand to shake mine, sealing the deal. I meet her halfway, locking our hands, shaking them as our hands glow only for a moment then go back to normal.

This confuses me as as I let go of her hand and staring at mine, top and bottom.. she waves it off at me saying, "That's just the magic that's intertwined in our agreement.. so here we go I will help your mate now and you will help me after and if you don't then the magic will reject your mate and she will die.. so let's get a move on." She says to me as she hops up out of her chair. She snaps her fingers as Ember lifts out of my arms and drifts to the table behind us, getting set down gently, with me trailing right behind her because this whole magic stuff makes me so uncomfortable. I know I need the help of magic right now but that doesn't mean I trust it.

"Don't worry I know what I'm doing, I'm the only one that knows how to do this.. I have performed this only 10 times in 150 years but I still know what I'm doing so you have to trust me whether you like it or not." She says to me as she starts to walk over to her counter that's filled with different types of herbs that are separated and labeled in multiple containers. She takes one after the other throwing the herbs into a bowl as she chants under her breathe as if she is whispering to the herbs.. and who knows maybe she is.

Then she starts grinding the herbs up in the bowl as she adds liquid that's also labeled here and there. Once she is done mixing it thoroughly into a paste of sorts I watch her turn around letting out a deep breathe.. She gets closer to the table, closing her eyes as she sets the bowl thats holding the paste, down on the table.

She steps closer as she stretches her arms straight out in front of her, putting her hands above the wound on Ember's leg that still has the knife in it. She opens her eyes walking to the counter as she splashes some liquid on her hands and rubbing them together. She starts chanting while approaching my mate's lifeless body once again. She reaches out across as she hesitantly grabs the hilt and slowly pulls out the knife from her leg making Ember groan in pain but not waking up.. My heart races at that sound alone as I watch my mate have a look of pain on her face.. "She will be ok just breathe Alpha." The fae says to me reassuringly as she sets the knife down in her kitchen sink before coming right back to the table.

The fae takes the herb paste into her hands, rubbing it between her fingers as she whispers to it just continuing her chants as she puts the herbs into her wound on her leg looking as if she is filling it up. She keeps the hand motions moving around the wound as Embers wound starts to glow from the open area and then slowly through her whole body. I can see her veins glowing through her skin brighter as the fae's chants get louder and louder. Until the fae opens her eyes and glowing recedes. Ember stops cringing in pain as she let's out a huge breath looking asnif she is sleeping peacefully.

I let out the breathe I didn't even know I was holding in as the fae catches my attention.

"The process is complete and I swear on my life she will be fine as long as you get me what I need.. the magic of our agreement will hold her tight in a safety cocoon if you will.. until you get back with what I need." She explains to me as I'm worried for my mate, to leave her with a stranger is hard to ask of me but she did just supposedly saved her and I'm a man of my word.

"So how am I suppose to know what wand I'm looking for?" I ask her wanting some type of clarification to make sure I get the right item because I'm not going back and forth.. this will already be hard enough to do, let alone if I make a mistake and grab the wrong item so for my sanity, so I don't feel like I'm on a complete blind chase.

"They have it stored in their safe because they know the importance of a faes handmade widdled wand. I made it with magic, from the last magically created red wood tree. It's the last of its kind and over 100 years old.. It's red and wood of course hence the name. It's two skinny branches twisted together." She explains as best as she can so I stand up in nervousness.

"Ok, am I allowed to bring any help or does that null and void our contract?" I ask curiously staring at my mate but still talking to the fae.

"They cannot come with you, the deal was that YOU would be the one to aquire my wand.. that's something you need to think about when you make a deal with any fae, is your wording of the deal.. but it's better this way anyways because with all of you wolves there, you will be easily detected no matter how good your stealth is... but one wolf will be able to make it past undetected was easier.. and with your well known war battling tactics I think you can do it.. come here Alpha." She says to me as she waves me over to her.

I hesitantly walk towards her as she gently touches my exposed stomach where my wound is trying to heal as fast as possible with the help of my fast wolfhealing. She whispers something as I feel a pressure in my insides. My body clenches as it illuminates up with a bright light then disappears as quickly as it came.. but suprisingly takes the pain with the light. I look down and my wound is completely healed.

"What do I owe you for that?" I ask suspiciously so she says softly because of the close proximity as she stares up at me. "That's a gift because not all faes need something in return for their help.. and besides you're going to need all the help you can get pup.. good luck and I swear on my life your mate will be fine in my care but if it would make you feel better you can leave your friends here with her."

"I will do that because no offense but I don't know you well enough to trust you, but thank you for all your help.. I greatly appreciate it.. I'm in your debt.. only for a little bit.. I'll be back." I say to her as she smirks at me and replies, "I know you will.. that's why you're here.. now say your goodbyes and get this mission underway.. with the long traveling ahead you will need all the time you can get so you can use the cover of darkness to your advantage."

I nod at her as I turn to my men. Who have witnessed everything and knows what needs to be done by me so no explaining luckily enough.

"Ok please keep my mother updated about what has happened here and that I'm headed on a mission but don't tell her where.. I forbid it.. because she will send help and as the fae said I have to do it in my own or it will break our deal and that's my families lives on the line I won't take that risk. I know she will start some type of retaliation giving away any cover I have in my defense.. so I will go as fast as I can but there is no way I'm rushing this.. because this is my shot and that's when people make mistakes is when they are rushing.. I'm going to take my time and hopefully it will work out in my favor... but just in case I don't ever see you guys again.. Please take care of yourselves and your mates when you all find them.. because I know you will. Thank you for always being there for me when I needed you most.. You're all my brothers whether it's by blood or not. I love you all and you don't know what you mean to me.. thank you." I say with so much honestly because I won't have another chance if I die out there. I step forward and give Roary a hug as he says, "Don't get yourself killed dumbass.. we won't be able to run the pack without you." He says as I smike and nod. I ket go and hug Sean as he says, "Remember to keep your head up and just keep in mind that you might not be as good as you think at fighting so don't get cocky." He playfully spats as I hit his chest and say, "Im at least still better than you." I state as he scoffs making me laugh as I turn to my brother who has tears in his eyes.

we both hug each other tight not letting go as he says. "You know you're stupid for running into a coven if vampires to get a wabd.. just think to yourself that you can't die with that as your death everyone will make fun of you for being so stupid.. don't make our family look bad like that.. if you come back at least you will get your prize ad your mate and qe can only make fun of you a little bit.. that is until Ember kicks your ass for risking your life like this for her.. I think that will be more entertaining anyways.." He says to me as I hear him sniffle.. this is how we deal with our emotions is mostly just by joking about them. I hug him tighter as I say.. "I'll try to make sure I don't die by captures so I can die by my mate's hand so you have a better show.. you feel better now?" He laughs at that as he nods. "Sounds like the perfect plan. See you soon little bro." He steps back and ruffles my hair just like he knows I hate but this time I really don't. I take his teasing because I know what it really means.

"See you soon and I love you too." I reply then step back as I nod at them and to the fae, she doesn't break her eye contact with me, as she says across the room.

"Even when things seem dark and endless.. just remind yourself that it will all come to an end, you just need to push through.. not just for yourself but your future.. and what it could be with your mate.. It could be something amazing for you, I have seen it, it's beautiful and completely fulfilling making your life worth living.. but I have also seen what could happen if you fail and it's nothing for the feign of heart.. but don't despair, you can do this.. that's why you were chosen.. everything has happened for a reason and you're the key."

I think about her words and nod silently not knowing how to respond to that.. but I understand what she is saying. I look at my mate on the table looking so peaceful as I slowly walk to her side. I gently brush her red vibrant hair out of her face as I gently touch her lips. I can't resist as I lean in and press my lips to hers. I take in a deep breathe enjoying her sent for one more moment before I leave. I feel my tears slipping down my cheeks but drip onto hers.. I break my kiss as I wipe away my tears from her cheeks.

Leaning forward I lean my forehead against hers. "I love you Ember." I whisper to her as I stand up and let out my nervous breathe. I turn then walk through the house away from them as I open the door and step outside. I slip my shorts off, then shift into Cormac, grabbing my shorts into my mouth.

Let's get this done with so we can get back to our mate.

I say to him as he huffs and says.

I like the enthusiasm but it's going to be harder than that dumbass.

He says playfully back to me as I scoff.

Nice to know you can actually comprehend the seriousness of this mission.

I humorously spat back making him grunt in response.

Alright let's do this.

I say as I take of like a bat out of hell, headed to Texas where the main lair coven of Bullseye was known to be.. he has multiple covers under him but I would just assume something of value like this would be hidden as close to him as possible so that's where I'm headed.
