CHAPTER TWENTY FIVE Remi was up and running a second later. By memory she ran down a short hallway, hands outstretched until she banged into the staff door. She flung it open and just as quickly shut it behind her. Now she was in one of the upper galleries. A few small, high windows let a little of the streetlight to filter in, just enough that she didn’t knock over any priceless art as she passed. Still, she couldn’t run like she wanted to, only manage a quick walk. She did not dare turn on the flashlight on her phone. She jumped, suppressed a yelp as the staff door she had passed through banged open a second time, the beams of two flashlights poking into the darkness. Remi ducked behind a large bronze sculpture. “Where’s the emergency generator?” she heard Daniel ask. “This way.”
