EPILOGUE
Three days later …
Daniel sat in Deputy Director Burton’s conference room at FBI headquarters. Like his last meeting there, a week previously, he sat at the end of the long conference table facing Burton, the Personnel Director, and Antiquities Division head Keiko Ochiai.
The only person missing was Martin Bradshaw, the Assistant Director for the Behavioral Analysis Unit, Daniel’s old boss. Daniel took that to mean he would not be getting his old position back.
There was another change too. The higher ups didn’t look like they wanted to eat him for breakfast.
Burton spoke first. “So, Agent Walker, I bet you didn’t think transferring you to the Antiquities Division would get you onto a serial killer case.” He let out a little laugh.
“I’m just glad we got him, sir.”
