The moment stretched, becoming unbearably tight with tension. Macy’s eyes wouldn’t close, no matter how much she wanted to. She sobbed, pleading words pouring out of her mouth as she begged Annette to spare her son. Internally, she knew that Annette wouldn’t relent from her decision no matter how much she begged – she despised Macy too much to do so. Still Macy begged, unable not to. Annette glanced in Macy’s direction briefly. A wicked smirk curved her lips widely when she saw the state she had put Macy into. Her eyes gleaned with malicious pleasure. “You really should have begged when I had asked nicely.” She said, her tone light, filled with a false sympathy.
